Epic Games General Thread - Its time to talk about what the AAA gaming industry does not understand about the PC console.

Which is a bigger evil: EGS or Uplay?
They both hand out your passwords to slavs/the chinese and have competitive shooter games.
The unique thing about Uplay is that you have to install it and make an account if you buy one of their newer games on Steam.

Fucking chinks took Ancestors the humankind evolution.

Even halfway decent "god games" are so fucking rare. Ive Finally gone and done it.

Ubisoft calls Steam's business model "Unrealistic", and claims it doesn't reflect the world we live in today, due to the revenue share. Will continue to do business with Epic for exclusives.

Sooo...Wanna tell this the console companies, Apple who take a good chunk for mobile games. An hey, if you guys care so much about revenue why aren't I finding your games on Discords store, hmmmm?

Because Discord isn't paying them a big chunk of money for a semi-elusive IN ADDITION to a better cut. Ubisoft is unironically saying that Valve should pay them for the honor of selling their game like EGS does.

Ironic, since people would usually buy games from Uplay anyway since you'll need to play Ubisoft games. So in both cases of steam and valve you cut out the middle man.

It's the year 2029, you got several different VR and regular games you want to play. Over the years new DRMs pop up, all trying to compete against steam. Now you got several gaming studios making different deals with different DRM providers to be exclusives. You now have 22 different DRMs on your computer to play games now.

I hope it won't get that bad.

Ubisoft hasn't made a good game in nearly a decade so I think I'll be fine.
Have to disagree with this for the sole reason that For Honor is fantastic. Other than that though... well, i guess they did Rayman too, and then forgot about it completely.
Definitely nothing to care enough of to touch EGS. The only reason i didn't buy the new Anno (outside that it had those annoying pointless "search this area" missions) is that it was sort-of-kind-of EGS exclusive even if not really.

Just wait until some abusive shit like GameGuard realizes they have a stranglehold on companies in Asia, so why not start their own platform... That, or good old Securom doing the very same.

I don't think it will. Epic is practically hemorrhaging cash to get limited exclusives on their site. We haven't seen actual sales numbers, but I doubt they are taking a significant amount of the marketshare. Fortnite is their only money maker and unless they can pull something amazing off, I think that game has peaked in terms of users.
Unless Epic has enough capital to keep up their guaranteed sales in perpetuity, they are in for a world of shit as devs (particularly indies) realize they'll have to do simple things like multiplayer and cloudsaving on their own dime while piracy in poorer areas climb, due to Epic not having the API and support Steam provides. Any dev currently on Epic is only there because it's the safest bet for success they will ever make.
On another note, Ubisoft going Epic might actually be a wise decision, because I know several people who bought using some of their EGS games on Uplay because it's more secure than Epic, and they already had it downloaded. They finally got people to actually purchase through Uplay, amazing.

Koch media also wants to do more business with Epic, even after the Metro backlash.

Ubisoft is milking Tim Sweeny and has wanted off Steam for years. Epic just gave them the excuse with money.

And of course Koch want to. Their executives get free money no matter how the game does. Game sells like shit? Still got paid.

Like nigger, do you really trust people who got free millions of dollars without doing a fucking thing? The most these fuckfaces had to do for this payday was slowly lurch over and sign a piece of paper and make sure it got directly deposited into their personal bank accounts. I mean of course you're going to suck his dick. He just gave you massive profits to show off to investors for literally nothing.

EDIT:
Also, Ubisoft? You had your own launcher for years and years. You didn't have to be on Steam. If it 'didn't reflect the world we live in today', you would have bailed long ago. But you didn't, did you? You know why Ubisoft? Because nobody wanted to use your faggot launcher until Tim Sweeny got the checkbook out and paid people to do it for you.

Your product was so fucking shitty that people have had to be forced to use it. You hypocritical fucking faggots. Your product was so garbage, you wouldn't make the cut and were too pussy to go on your own like Origin did. You were so scared of leaving Big Bad Gaben. You only did it when you got paid to do it. I don't remember EA saying anything about how 'Steam's cut is unrealistic'. It just wanted its games on its own platform. And it just did it, like that. Thing is, as much people hated Origin and EA, people could accept it. Because it was their product. Their IP. And at least they had the balls to do it.

You just used Steam, then like little bitches, ran away only because someone took that risk of leaving Steam for you. Ubisoft. You're a bunch of French faggot cowards. Nigger, nobody believes you.

So, apparently Epic said how they arent gonna be making any annoucements about further or future updates to their store.

I still hate how Epic Games bought Easy Anti-Cheat, essentially breaking a lot of games on Linux (both Epic-created and non Epic-created).

Fuck Sweeney and his hostility towards Linux.

That was actually a direct spite-fuck to Valve, since Valve was working with them on Linux games. It'll probably be quietly regulated to the dustbin.
