Really? Autistic high functions kids I could see maybe some of them doing dress up of their own volition (not at night in shady clubs but you know what I'm talking about) but Down Syndrome kids? They are so easily taken advantage of.

God damn it.

PL I know people with Down Syndomre, I know that they are human and that they can take their own decisions (to a point, it depends), but when some shady guy comes and manipulates them... they are a really vulnerable part of the population..,.

I agree that this is exploitation. Downies have a wide-range of function level but down syndrome produces a strong need for social acceptance and a tendency to over trust, similar to lower functioning autists. Drag is inherently a sexual performance and the congressman made the right call IMO.

What is even this "I have the right" shit? And why are parents even enabling it?

Yes, children have rights, but it's not like they have a right to do whatever they want. What about the right to be protected by their parents without having stupid liberal activists trying to override their parental duties to keep them away from pedophiles and encouraging them to put themselves in danger instead?

In my experience with Downs kids when they reach puberty their sexuality is just out there and like everything else they have to be taught appropriate channels of expression for their feelings. I can see a pedo/perv taking advantage of it so fuck this "right to be a drag queen" bullshit. Having a special needs but high functioning child is hard enough without pedos demanding you allow your child to be abused.

You would not believe how many people have, and yet nothing is being done.
Children are innocent and should not see the evils of the world through their parents.
I wish someone would step in and rescue this poor kid from the Hell he is going through.
Of course rescue would probably be in the form of kidnapping since CPS does't seem to want to do a damn thing
about it.

In my mind one of two realistic scenarios is going to play out for this kid.

1. He ends up committing suicide before the age of 18.

2. Ends up being kidnapped and murdered by some sick pedo before he's 18.

That's the thing. Desmond isn't the cow here, despite him being the focus- it's Wendy, and the society that has robbed him of his childhood innocence.

Not that the right is much better though.

But yeah its just... god it makes me frustrated thinking about it, drag "culture" is already messed up, adult and drug filled as it is, and as someone who's something of an insider in certain aspects, this kid is in for a rough awakening in the future, but if something did happen, the reaction from the "community" would certainly be interesting.

The show is really damn irrelevant and half of the names attached to it are organizers/regulars, more lame than actual people of any interest.
