He said that she's a very talented narrative designer, but her problem is that she just doesn't know when to stop being a narrative designer. That donation tweet is likely to be fake. It's at the very least unverified, so don't assume that she did that part, at least.

Depression Quest wasn't just Zoe's work, and we'll likely never know if all she contributed was the equivalent of the train whistle or not. It wasn't so much that a lot of people liked it, it's that a few of the right people liked it, and so enough people became aware of it. I don't know if it made money, or was even designed to, but it certainly got name recognition, seemingly in large part due to her extracurricular activities.

The reception of the quality amongst guys she didn't blow was about the same as with Goddess Mode, if you go back ... fuck, 100 pages now? The general consensus was that it was boringly mediocre, in that it wasn't even bad enough to have fun with. With Goddess Mode, you only had to see a preview or read the character description to realise the main characters were mostly self-insert variants of Zoe. The narrative was surface-level clichés with a boring plot and a cargo cult understanding of cyberpunk, and it was all just a bleh comic that didn't have anything to justify its existence.

We haven't seen her Hellcat or Addams Family comics yet. Of the very few things she's actually managed to produce, the expectation is that it would be as below-par slop as the rest of it, staying short of actively bad while having little in the way of redeeming features. And again, in comics, the writer is usually secondary to the artist, to the point where it's much easier to replace the former than the latter, and there's numerous examples where they've replace the former with the latter. So again, Zoe is drawn to an industry where her (likely) lack of input can be obscured by her collaborators.

It's another important thing to remember. As tenuous as it is already to call her a game dev, she gets lone credit for Depression Quest when she wasn't the only one to work on it. The same is allegedly true for her memoir, her comics work - everything. She does have a few talents, and one of them seems to be receiving credit for all the work while avoiding most if not all of the blame, if there's any to go around.

The win on Zoe doesn't come from her failing in the conventional sense. She's got too much of a support network of useless fucks for that. Don't let that discourage you though - like @AnOminous said, this is Zoe's Vade moment, the part where she begins her long slide into the proverbial basement.

Why is very simple: no matter how influential you are, nobody lasts particularly long once you having a body count is a known quantity. Publicly, none of Blowey Zoe's associates will ever acknowledge anything happened. But we've seen this before. Privately, they'll be seeking, albeit slowly, to disassociate with her - not because they don't approve of or agree with what she's done, but because they don't want the public scrutiny that comes with associating with her.

From this point onwards, every single time one of her allies will try to boost her public profile, her critics are going to bring up this suicide, and they are never going to let this go. It doesn't matter how curated the area she gets supported on is - every single time, "Zoe killed this guy" is going to be following her around. Just like with Benjanun Sriduangkaew and Vade, her connections will start freezing her out because none of them want the spotlight on them. They'll still support her publicly, but behind the scenes, they'll be trying to distance themselves from her, which may or may not eventually cause Zoe to lash out at them in response.
