That's almost right. But that's only pointless. Mundane Matt is pointless and dumb.

See, it's pointless to just go into Walmart and just film the box art of random DVDs and Blurays. What's dumb is that he does so to inform the viewer of the prices on said DVDs and Blurays, but without giving the location of the stores nor uploading the videos immediately, so they're completely useless in every possible sense of the word.

Yeah I kinda thought the same about the kid thing. I'm not convinced he was really cucked that hard.

I mean, it's at least once a week that I call my wife and say something like "guess what you're fucking son did" or she calls me and says the same. It's like a stupid mom or dad joke.

I always find myself doing thought experiments regarding how people like Matt coul improve his current set of circumstances and aside from the obvious (job searching), I think I know a way he can start cultivating an audience in earnest: movie reviews. And I don't mean in his usual style of waddling into a Walmart and giving cliffnotes of whatever he finds at the bargain bin, I'm talking about actual scripted video essays. He said he wanted to be a filmmaker, so you'd think that film critique would be the first thing he'd jump on.

Just a note of warning – -ss is a positional argument, passing it as an output option like you did means the video is encoded from the beginning but discarded until ffmpeg reaches the timestamp you give it. It can be useful for broken or unsyncable streams but for better performance you'd just use it as an input option – that is before -i. I guess it's not that much of a problem with copy codec but still.

Or you can use the -to option to specify an out point, like -ss 60 -to 70 to capture from second 60 to 70. -t and -to are mutually exclusive. If you use both, -t will be used.

Note that if you specify -ss before -i only, the timestamps will be reset to zero, so -t and -to have not the same effect. If you want to keep the original timestamps, add the -copytsoption.

The first command will cut from 00:01:00 to 00:03:00 (in the original), using the faster seek.
The second command will cut from 00:01:00 to 00:02:00, as intended, using the slower seek.
The third command will cut from 00:01:00 to 00:02:00, as intended, using the faster seek.
