You know it's real bad when fucking Arlo gets upset by it. This is something that has a 99% failure rate on all switch lites.
The man who defended the wii-u for 5 years only to turn around and say it's shit right when NEW PRODUCT TO CONSUME was announced to replace it.
And what's worse is that he defended the wii-u but never got past the tutorial stage for MH3U which outside of Xenoblade Chronicles X was the only other worthwhile game for the system.
lmao, Arlo. He seems to be dropping his fanboy crap as of late, at least. He trashed Mario Kart Tour and outright said exactly what was wrong with it. Not that that's hard to do, the game is practically Final Fantasy ATB levels of garbage. Games you give a 1-year-old child who just likes to press buttons and make things happen. Mario Kart Tour does look pretty on a phablet with a bright OLED screen, but that's about it. You can't even go offroad, it'll just automatically steer you back on-course.
Although re-released Wii U titles for the switch being priced at the same exact 60 USD price tag is a huge slap in the face to those who were loyal to the company since the Wii U era.
Yeah really, they couldn't even offer like $10 off a downloadable copy to anyone who bought them or the DLC. I'd really like to pick up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but I bought the Wii U version and its DLC, and it just sucks that I can't even get a discount. It never even gets a discount to half-off, because Nintendo knows Mario Kart games will always sell well.
That battle mode was fucking pathetic and the lack of block fort even in the Deluxe Switch version is a fucking crime on top of making MORE DLC after releasing the Deluxe version which was supposedly the completist of complete. Excessive DLC killed both Mario Kart and CTR for me.
Don't forget that Lamborghini ad or whatever where they added the realistic cars that completely clash with the game's art style.
I never really cared for Mario Maker, because the whole basis of it is reducing mario to a series of assets when there hasn't really been a true sequel on par with the original 4 games yet. In general it made mario feel soulless this was especially true after they bumrushed 3 NSMB games within a few years time and none of them are really fondly remembered.
I can kind of get behind that. Course World is almost universally shit, with the better ones just being puzzles. So many high-ranked levels are autoscrollers that like, play a song or something for Reddit upvotes and Youtube views, and so many random courses are just from kids scribbling a thousand enemies on the screen and not much else. So few people attempt to make courses that you'd actually find in a Mario game, and the ones I made barely get any plays due to just getting lost in the shuffle. Once you see the few gimmicks Mario Maker lets you make, it's easy to just shelve the game for good. If you want good custom courses, look up SMW romhacks made with Lunar Magic.
Since you mentioned NSMB, I once read something (so don't take this to the bank) about how the NSMB games were developed by a B-team, or like new developers or something at Nintendo. You can kind of use those games as a litmus test to separate the sycophants from everyone else. The only NSMB game I'd ever go back to is New Super Luigi, since that was actually fun.
Tropical Freeze makes me wonder why they were able to make 3 classics during the SNES era but struggled to crap out a single DKC game within the same amount of time. More work was involved with the SNES games because while everything was 3d rendered they had to convert shit into sprites and early texturing and modeling software was not as easy to use as today. Like they could have done two new DKC games for the wii-u at least.
Rare made the first three DKC games. That's why they were good.
