Kinda off topic: Jack has an official show with The Escapist now.

I had seen that he had done at least one live stream with Yahtzee and a review of Tank Girl with Obscurus Lupa. It looks like he's trying to make his own way outside of RLM. I know a number of you don't care for him but I never had a real problem with Jack. I hope he's a success in whatever he does if for no other reason but for his family's sake. Anywho, I know it probably doesn't mean anything buuuuuuuuuuuut what if The Escapist realizes it now has a much more charismatic person on "staff" who's into modern vidya, and the movies, and doesn't multiple times a day backhand-ly call for the extermination of half of the population, and pisses off the other half with his quarter cooked rhetoric/ideology, then start to wonder why they need two of them? I mean it's not like you can just go to Bob's feed and have a 50-50 shot of him showing support for the final solution to the conservative question at the top of his feed.

Bob will have no problem rolling over them because he's got a Hoveround. Side note, I was looking through that thread and was initially amazed about how many people were echoing Bob's daily sentiments. Then it came to me that they were saying this NOW. They haven't been regurgitating this line for almost a decade and crying about a lack of rocket ships. I felt better and went back to eating my burrito.

Also, pressing X

People who claim moral superiority always seem to be the ones countenancing human suffering.
Not to mention to throw stuff (even something as harmless as a regular milkshake) at them and/or excuse the act with “it didn’t hurt him, so there’s no worries,” while in the back of their head wished that they were hit by a brick or something.

Until now I've had this feeling of dread over Jack sucking up to Bob on Twitter, but even the faintest possibility of Bob getting shitcanned again in favor of someone who doesn't alienate half the country on an hourly basis, and who's more fun to listen to in videos to boot, is too delicious not to enjoy, however :optimistic:

HE TERK MER JERB!

Whatever you might think about Aydin Paladin see made a really interesting video on Movie Bob believes regarding intelligence.

Remember guys, Bob is a person who values human decency and is morally superior to the majority of the general public. Indeed, noting screams "human decency" like openly celebrating the idea of the majority of the working class not being to able to earn a living and hoping that they won't vote.
"I'm not anti-working class guys! I totally, sincerely support all the PoC in manual labor and low skill service jobs!"

One more thing about the Joker movie. In his review, this guy talks about Bob's reaction for a bit:

I haven't watched all of Bob's original video because fuck that, but wow that "pop culture mashup t-shirt" metaphor is insufferable. He goes on and on with it when his point is made in the first sentence, jamming every smart-sounding analysis term he can think of into this tangent that's not even relevant to the movie. He looks so smug about "analyzing" this completely fictional t-shirt with a string of non-sequiturs too. This isn't just a guy who feigns intelligence while lacking the most basic common sense, but one who actually believes his feigned intelligence is the real deal.

Since we are apparently actually watching Bob's Joker review, anyone else think it was especially stupid how Bob was ragging on the movie for being too derivative of movies that came out decades ago?
How many good reviews has Bob given to Marvel movies? You know, the movies that are nearly interchangeable in tone and style? Bob actually loves formulaic movies.
I guess going on for an eternity about Vegeta t-shirts made him miss the hypocrisy.

I mean, Communism in general didn't exactly have a particularly progressive position on...well anything by modern standards. The Marxist concept of the "lumpenproletariat" basically means that people who are really poor aren't technically part of the working class and are too stupid and degenerate to be organized. Marx himself thought prostitutes and other assorted "dregs of society" were fundamentally reactionary class enemies because they were morons that were easily manipulated by capitalists.

When old school commies talked about the "working class" they fucking meant the working class. People who were economically BELOW the working class (hookers, vagabonds, homeless people, people without stable jobs) were degenerate reactionary scum who were too stupid to avoid being hoodwinked by capitalists.

More on topic, why is Bob such a weird stalker of Aimee Terese? It seems like 80% of the time when he's complaining about people to his left, it's either Terese herself or people he pulled from her mentions. Is it because she's a woman to his left who dares to criticize him?
WTF I love old school communism now.

Thousands of pages of this thread could have been avoided if Bob just showed some humbleness and humility. He could be enduring if he had an attitude "I'm just a nerd internet critic afterall : ^ )". He could still be an out and open Trump deranged lefty, plenty of internet nerd critics are. Its his daily genocidal rhetoric that is the real problem, and its largely rooted in his unwarranted sense of high intellect.

That's the thing that sets him apart from your pre-#MeToo'd Andy Signore types is he really, really views himself as apart of some ascendant intellectual elite when he produces middle brow content for pop culture sites. I think of a guy like John David Ebert, who reviews films on the internet like Bob, but brings a real rigor and depth to whatever he is talking about. Just compare the opening paragraph of Ebert's review of Joker to Bob's whole review:
An anthropological type, according to Greek theoretician Cornelius Castoriadis, is a figure which typifies a world age. The Greek thinker of fifth century BC Athens, for instance, or the Hebrew prophet of the Old Testament are such figures. But in the age of Hypermodernity—which began in the middle of the 1990s—one of the primary anthropological types is that of the Dangerous Loner. The figure has its origins as a Precedental Event, however, back in 1966, when Charles Whitman climbed the Texas Tower at the University of Texas and, using a 6mm Remington rifle with a 4 power scope, proceeded to shoot and kill 13 people, while wounding 45 others.

A guy like Ebert doesn't have an overriding need to prove how smart he is or put down others to prove his intellectual might (and call for genocide of the American Heartland in the process). Ebert puts his stuff out there with the same down to earth attitude a mommy blogger would when posting funnel cake recipes, it just happens to be highbrow analysis of culture in his case. Bob brings the level of intellect to his content you would expect from an opinion piece writer for a suburban paper, not that there is anything wrong with that. Having distinctly easily digestable middle-brow content is probably why he manages to have as big a fanbase as he does. But to prance around like you are God's Science's gift to mankind, while regularly denigrating large swath of the country as inferiors just based on regional voting patterns (which in itself demonstrates that at best Bob is so wrapped up in emotionality that any extra brain wrinkles are rendered smooth) makes Bob look like an absolute dunce, and a very cruel one at that.

Bob's problem isn't staying in his lane, but realizing what lane he has been in all along.

You know what would be hilarious to piss off Bob? If there was a movie about his "superior future" where robots are basically slaves (and it's totally okay because they're not human) and then one of them pick up a bible and starts reading and, around the middle, robots rebel because they coverted to religion and believe they have a soul.

Is anyone else really curious as to what Bob's academic qualifications actually are?

He claims to have a " B.A. in Interactive Multimedia Art with a minor in Film Studies Communications," which is presumably a four year degree.
I just broke out the .pdf copy of Bob's book (I love torturing myself) and the in the period between when Bob mentions the years (1996, when Bob was a High School Sophomore, and 2005 when Bob worked at Best Buy and started playing Mario again) college is sparsely mentioned.

The only real mention of Bob's college experience is that he had to commute to a "local state college" from his parent's house and that he had bought a camcorder to use for some classes. He goes on for paragraphs about how working at Blockbuster gave him skills to talk about movies in a professional manner, but not once about how his Multimedia and Films Studies classes might have done the same.
No mention of any specific college, or graduating college, or any specific experiences. Bizarre.

People don't usually try to hide where they went to college like this. So two possibilities, either Bob didn't graduate and avoids giving out information so people can't call up the college and check his record, or he is ashamed that he wasn't recognized for his superior mind and went to a school he considers substandard.
That odd set of events really would explain a lot about Bob. Even someone who goes for a "freshman vacation" typically ends up growing a lot from the experience and ends up with new memories to take with them. Some stories of how drunk they were and girls they made out with typically. But Bob went for 4 years and has nothing to say about it. There are no good implications for what happened in ages 18-25 in that case.

Four (or six) years of being ignored by everybody and retreating to the warm glow of soft-serve low-brow media narcotization to ignore the horrible reality that no one likes being around you, that was Bob's college experience. Binge eating to try to fill the aching void inside. Getting mediocre (at best) grades at a mediocre (at best) school. Watching other people have fun but never being included. Telling himself over and over that sooner or later he'd meet the right person and fall in love. Waiting for graduation, so he could go out and make his mark, never realizing his job at Blockbuster would be the apex of his real-world working life. At least there he was forced to interact with people face-to-face.

And twenty years later how much has really changed? Well, he stumbled into minor success online, mostly by being an early adopter of Youtube. He's still a miserable fat fuck no one likes or wants to be around. I'd bet money Bob's a virgin. He'll never meet someone. He'll never fall in love. If Bob decided to throw a party and invited all of his friends, excluding family, not a half-dozen people would show. All the pop-culture t-shirts in the world won't change these facts. But hey, on his deathbed he can reflect back on his life and be comforted by the thought that he's seen every MCU movie multiple times. He's been a loyal, unquestioning consumer and Bob Iger will be waiting to personally usher him into Disney's HeavenWorld(tm).

That's actually not a bad idea for a story. The only time Bob can help generate a good story is when people are trying to mock him.
