Kinda late but Bob is a good reminder of why it's important to temper emotional responses with some level of rationality. I assume part of the reason Bob lacks a filter is because he goes after socially acceptable targets, at least by Twitter standards, and nobody tells him "lol calm down". He'd never have a reason to develop one or gain any introspective thoughts which worsen his state of mind.

People have told him to calm down though, and called him out. Repeatedly. He dismisses them as the wrong kind of leftists/democrats/liberals. One of the really toxic things about social media is that with a little luck any psycho can manage to scrounge up a big enough following of ball lickers to insulate them and make them think their ideas aren't horrifying and repulsive to most people. These people get a couple hundred, or even a couple dozen likes and worst member of RLM reblogging their stuff and they think they're a big, swinging dick who represents a popular opinion.

Bob is too big of an exceptional asshole for even most of exceptional asshole Twitter, but he's still got juuust enough followers and fans to convince himself that he's awesome.

I’d like to second what @Mola Ram said and go one step further by saying that I think that Bob’s Randroid tendencies never truly went away. He still jabbers on and on about an elite few given free reign to mold society as they see fit, parasites holding humanity back from reaching their potential, and has an incredibly selfish worldview. The main differences now are his paying more explicit lip-service to left-wing causes, a significantly more authoritarian bent, and the exact nature of the parasites he rails against.

His obsession brings to mind a similar fashion in which larges swaths of Reddit was consumed by the story of Nikola Tesla a decade or so ago. The story of a brilliant, but misunderstood genius who was swindled by a capitalist destroying the future in the process is how Tesla became mythologized in those circles.
