I disagree. I'd even say the Alec calls are one of the most important things for people to be exposed to. What Alec does is very similar to what Kacey did, minus the inherent dishonesty and cruelty. Walk Chris through point by point, supported with examples, of the flaws in his thinking and behavior. Try to inject some reality into his fantasy and coax him into self reflection and improvement. The result is that it all flows around Chris like air. He limply apologizes when pressed hard enough in the hopes the other person will just shut up and forget about it. When presented with facts and talked into a corner he makes an excuse and flees.Agreed - I do feel that Gino puts a bit too much time on the calls, when he could just summarise what happens for the majority of the conversation, then place an emphasis on the whole dimensional merge connection thing.
At this point in the series we know Chris is getting constantly trolled and Alec's technique can be summed up in a few sentences. But thats just my opinion.
They are prime examples of Chris being given real insight and advice and completely rejecting it to his detriment. One of Geno's stated goals in the documentary intro is to help people understand why Chris is the way he is and how he got where he is in life. The Alec calls are like a microcosm of Chris' life, showing pretty definitively his own culpability in his many problems. So yeah honestly I feel they're pretty important for people to hear, especially for those who might lean towards giving Chris the benefit of the doubt or seeing him as a victim.
