It amuses me that @Connor posted AM's monologue from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream to illustrate how he feels about women.

Of course the therapist/counselor isn't the problem. It seems like Connor doesn't believe he has to actually change. Apparently, as long as you say you've changed people HAVE to be nice to you and shower you with praise.

connor, if you don't do what your therapist asks you to do, nothing is going to change.
if you do what they ask you to do and nothing changes, you need to tell them that strategy is not working or find another therapist.
if you just ignore them completely, you're the one wasting time and money. the therapist cannot fix you like a car, no matter how much they care about you and your well-being. i'm sure you've seen plenty of people come and go at that office and if you're wondering why they've gotten better and moved on so much faster than you? it's because they put in the effort.

On the contrary, that's what's so frustrating about Connor. Tons of people offered him really great writing/life advice and he trampled all over it. He took whatever sympathy he got, spit on it, and threw it back into the faces of those who gave it to him. I've noticed that most kiwis are generally encouraging and kind towards people who want to change. Connor is not one of those people.

Personally, I think Connor might be onto something (far be it from an excuse, but it does serve as an explanation.) Resentment hurts yourself as much as it hurts others, and until he lets go of that resentment he's gonna have a much harder time loving himself as well as others. Maybe if he understood Nietzsche beyond "sucking your own dick is justified because I'm the ubermensch" and realize that his own slave morality is what's killing him, he'd be better off.
