Hecht: "we wanted to move away from the 'celebrity' mods that GAF had. There are a few members who could potentially be good mods on Era, but the existence of a 'cult of personality' around them somewhat differentiates them from one of the major things we wanted to get away from."
Translation: none of you lunatic 'pillar of the community' troons will ever be a mod.
Hecht: "being on staff requires one to post in a different manner than a user: for instance, I'm totally an asshole [...] but I know I have to provide information to the user base at large in a certain manner."
Translation: what I really want to say is fuck you motherfuckin goosestepping unwashed troons, #justiceforroyalan, I can't wait to ban each and every single one of you while I laugh maniacally and open my best single malt scotch to savor the occasion.
Hecht: "I won't be as argumentative, nor will I post in a manner that will elicit certain responses - I can't show that I'm 'baiting' someone into saying something terrible."
Translation: excel will never be a mod, you exceptional colostomy bag of the internet
Hobbes being banned for being his exceptional individual self in a Death Stranding thread:

"I thought they were my fwiends"
Here's his friends talking about the ban:
'We transactivists do too much important work to talk about games on a gaming forum! Cut that out!'
I'll wager that Hecht banned him since Hecht has been active in the Death Stranding review thread, bemoaning people who are "overblown negative critics". And Hecht basically told them he wants to be an asshole to them but has to restrain himself – he hates their guts. Hobbes walked right into Hecht's trap.
This is a genius new strategy by staff. They made a massive tactical error by going right for the leader. Now they've regrouped and realized that what they need to do is go after the coterie first, because the rest of them notice the bans but don't care.
Staff is biding their time and making a shitlist, waiting for them to dip their toes into the gaming side. They're starting at the bottom and thinning out the security detail surrounding Ketkat so there will be no-one left to stop them when they go in for the kill.
These are some Sun Tzu tactics worthy of restoring Fukui's asian pride.
