How will Eren be stopped?

To set up that Gabi is going to kill Connie. Because Connie will lose his shit for no other reason than Isayama wants to and Gabi will be 'forced' to kill him. Because Isayama really hates his audience and thinks this is edgy.

Gabi is Isayama's personal Mary Sue. For some reason, he felt he needed a younger equivalent of Eren who was perfect in every way. Since his readership despises her, he keeps forcing it. I wouldn't be surprised if she is integral to the end of the manga. And goddamn Isayama is telegraphing that shit or just re-using poses. Its exactly like Eren. OK FUCKFACE WE GET IT, SHE'S LIKE EREN, STOP. NO ONE CARES.

The only good thing about Gabi right now is that he's at least attempting that she can show comprimise and can reason with Eren and wants peace. She's not super badass Mac 10 destroyer of worlds. I think if anything, they might get a plan together to try and talk to Eren, not to fight him, but Annie wakes up, has no idea what's going on and ruins that plan. They have to fight and kill Annie, but the time it takes them to do that delays them so long the Colossal Titans reach Marley. Or some dumb shit. Who the fuck knows. Annie resurrecting is pointless.

I still think with the things I wrote you can pull off a decent emotional climax and a good ending. Even with all this dumb shit, there's time for the story to be salvaged. I just don't think Isayama wants to.

If Gabi kills Connie, I'm fucking done. I stuck along with this shitride after Ymir died and Historia got pimped out because hey, at least Sasha was still around. Sasha's dead, but I persevered, because at least Connie and Jean are still around. Jean pussied out and is basically 'wtf I love Eren now', so that leaves me with Connie.

This manga has become an absolute tropical fuckstorm of Hurricane Katrina proportions. I don't even think it's a matter of Isayama wanting to fix the story. Even if he did see something wrong with the way things are, he has the mental capacity of a rather exceptionally re.tarded possum.

Connie deserves better. Seriously, both he, and Mikasa are the only people left of the main cast to have done literally nothing to deserve all the shit they get. To be fair, it's mostly because Connie does literally nothing, and Mikasa just seems to be the series' cosmic plaything.

Anyways, I've been going through old fan theories, and I gotta say, the more I read them, the more disappointed I am about what's actually happened. They're not even huge plot ones, except for the one about Marco secretly being a titan-shifter who faked his death, but fucking hell, would they definitely add a lot of depth to story and characters if they were true. The best one I think is that the reason behind Levi's cleaning obsession is that Kenny made him clean up him crime scenes. How shocking, and frankly, more powerful would that be than what actually happened? Don't get me wrong, the relation Kenny and Levi share is arguably the best written one in the series, and I do really like it. It's just when I read that, and compare it to other things other people have not even written, but just theorized, it just feels that it could've been better.

Much like the the entire series, actually. We could've just gone to the basement, killed all the titans, and seen the ocean, and called it a day, but no. Isayama decided to include time-traveling Nazis, and global genocide (which by the way, I love how in the very same chapter that other races were confirmed to exist, Eren declares that he's going to kill them all) by a literal god-powered Eren.

If I could go back in time to 2013, and say this is where AoT ends up, that this is how it ends, people who've thought I was fucking insane.

Did you ever read why Isayama killed Sasha?

Its because he HATED her. Like despised her. She was supposed to die a lot earlier in a horrific way, but because the fans liked her, he didn't. When he got popular enough to not give a fuck, he gave her the ultimate insult by being killed off by his personal Mary Sue. Not only that, Sasha's family shit on her too. "Well, she was in a war and got shot. I'll take her killer in, cunt deserved it". Like, its pathological at how much he disliked her. That's really the disconnect with him and the audience. It wasn't because he was trying to shock anyone or because of emotional impact. Its because he didn't like her. Apparently comedy is too much in his 'lol so Grimdark' manga.

All the Isayama dicksuckers love that he's a 'master of foreshadowing' (lol no, he's had no idea what was going on since before they opened the basement). I write, so lets go over this.

I've already set up that the Eldians have the Jaw Titan. This alone is conflict, because I've already indicated Gabi is going to do no matter what it takes to get Falco back (when she's in the mirror, its basically a direct copy of the Eren scene, hair and all). So she is not going to accept them just taking Falco. Now I've established Connie is fanatical about giving Falco to his mom to eat so she becomes human. I've also established Eren has no control over the Zeke created Titans because they were made with Zeke's fluids (why he can't who knows, he just can't. Don't expect any sort of continuity or rules in Attack on Titan). The group seems very not cool with this. Hence, I've just set up a conflict between Gabi, who will not give up, and Connie, who won't either.

Now Isayama is a fucking hack so it isn't necessarily the case. There are a LOT of dropped conflicts, arcs and devices in Attack on Titan since the basement. We can't rely on him to follow formal literary convention (not following literary convention is ok, but you better be good enough to do it. Isayama is not). In pretty much any other work of fiction, I'd say a conflict between Gabi and Connie was an inevitability, either in the main story or a prologue after the resolution to the main conflict. The outcome would depend on the context of the work. If we assume Isayama will randomly decide to follow literary convention: Connie is a comic relief sort of character. Isayama hates those. Gabi is a Mary Sue expert at everything. If neither of them budge, Connie dies. He could throw us for a loop and Gabi has truly changed and tries to plead with Connie. Obviously, Gabi pleading with Connie, saying how she's truly changed and regrets killing people and that it is something that she's going to have to struggle with for the rest of her life. You could make a really touching scene there about how Gabi herself says she's not innocent and she understands why Connie hates her, but Falco IS. So just to let him live because he's an innocent. It'd show some fucking character development with Gabi and Connie. But I don't trust Isayama to do this.

What's frustrating is that there are still ways to make decent things out of this shit sandwich and instead of splattering on cement, you just hit a lot of scaffolds on the way down and you end up breaking all the bones in your arms and your legs, but you're still alive. It just is not going in that direction.

I honestly don't think Isayama cares or notices. He operates on 'what I want to happen, happens'. He barely even tries to fit it in. If you're lucky, you'll get a couple of panels.

Connie deserves better. Seriously, both he, and Mikasa are the only people left of the main cast to have done literally nothing to deserve all the shit they get. To be fair, it's mostly because Connie does literally nothing, and Mikasa just seems to be the series' cosmic plaything.

If I could go back in time to 2013, and say this is where AoT ends up, that this is how it ends, people who've thought I was fucking insane.

You're just hurting yourself if you read fan theories right now. I mean, yeah, that would be good, but AoT is not a character focused story. Which is what it should be. Its more plot centric. The problem is that plot is trash. You've got these interesting characters just sitting there while Isayama decides he wants this grandiose plot. And to be honest, the plot's shit. Its just straight shit. The basement reveal was garbage.

Here's my vision of AoT in three acts. Feel free to skip this, but I've always wanted to see what I'd do with the setting. This is autistic, long and boring. Give me ratings, etc. don't care. So this is Secret Asshole's Attack on Titan, using the three act structure.

Act I

You can pretty much keep most everything as it is, really from the anime and manga. Except Annie is killed. She doesn't crystallize. My idea diverges at the basement reveal. Here, its revealed that the government inside the walls pretended that humanity was extinct and only survived inside here, but that's the lie. That's why they execute everyone who finds out. The government has known about these settlements and is in contact with them. Even worse, the royal government knows about the existence of Titan Shifters. AND King Cuck. Why? Because the vast majority of settlements outside the walls are religious fanatics (on their own accord) who believe Titans are a righteous curse from God for the crimes humanity committed against Him and His Children. They believe humanity should be eliminated. The only reason the Titan Shifters don't just come in and wreck humanity in the walls is because of the deal with the royal government and King Cuck, in that humanity will eventually slowly disappear instead of die all at once horribly. The fanatics believe Titan Shifters are gifts from the heavens to protect the true blievers until judgment day.

Grisha is a former believer in the religion of the settlements until he found the truth: Titan shifters were in actuality an anti-Titan weapon, shattering the tenets of the settlements outside the wall. Whatever humanity was before, it was developing these injectors in order to turn people into sentient Titans to destroy the mindless ones. Grisha theorizes this is how the walls were built with so many Titans around, that in the ancient past, humanity used Titan shifters to protect this walled city. He doesn't know why humans didn't kill Titans after the city, but he believes this cult was founded and rose to power at the same time. Grisha's humanity is tested when he sees the poverty and pain inside the walls and eventually, he goes HAM, steals a Titan shifter injector, murders King Cuck, and transfers that shifter to Eren. This is why the fanatics are so reluctant to attack afterwards, a Titan shifter is a powerful weapon, and King Cuck was the most powerful among them.

Act I ends with the realization that they can be free of the Titan plague. They just need more Titan shifters. The Scout Squad then goes out to find these settlements.

Act II

This would focus on the religion of the settlements, their culture and the characters within them. Allies and sympathizers are found, there's culture shock as Eren and co. experience this strange world outside of the walls. Inside the walls, it'd be the government vs. the Scouts. The Scouts found the ultimate secret and need to be eradicated. Kenny is the one to do that. Keep that stuff. More actiony, though. Obviously there'd be more relationship development, what have you, but now not only can you get eaten alive, you can get shot.

I'd introduce Zeke as basically the antagonist at this point, like, the pope of the outside. He controls the settlements and is deeply disturbed by the revolution inside the walls.

So as this is going on, Eren and the scouts struggle to acquire more Titan shifters and Titan abilities before humanity in the walls is destroyed. Super Levi and Erwin are in the city so they're dealing with governmental bullshit. There are more infiltrators and friends and romantic partners turn to be traitors. Eren himself convinces other towns to join their cause, displaying the suffering of the people within the walls. The starvation, poverty and corruption. He begins to acquire more Titan shifters and allies to his side.

Zeke himself finds this worrying and looks into the legend of the ultimate Titan shifter, one to control all mindless Titans, regardless of the distance between them. Levi and Erwin basically win and initiate a coup. The royal government is eradicated and its leaders executed. Eren finds out about this ultimate Titan. This sets up a race against time as the Scouts try to beat Zeke to this Mind Controlling Shifter. After a pitched battle, maybe a character death or two, the scouts lose. They lose hard. Zeke gains the ability to control all mindless Titans. He then begins his march on Paradis.

This ends Act II.

Act III

Would be the desperate and last battle of humanity. Eren and his allies vs. Zeke and his army with his army of titans. People die, get eaten, shifters beating the shit out of each other, 3D manuvering gear, thunder spears, cannons, this mass amount of shit. It comes down to Eren vs. Zeke. Eventually Eren prevails and kills Zeke. The mind-controlled Titan Army then just begins killing everything, and then the warriors and the city-dwellers team up and destroy the mindless Titans. Since Zeke gathered all the Titans in one place to destroy humanity, the Titans themselves are utterly annihilated, leaving humanity victorious and with no more Titans around, the fanatical cult outside the walls crumbles.

The last story would be Eren and the survivors just exploring the country side, enjoying what they'd never seen before. In a reveal, I'd illustrate civilization before the fall. Almost Aztec like, with human sacrifice, cannibalism and all-consuming darkness. You would never, ever know where the Titans came from, or what they were or how they killed humanity. They're now just dust and ash, completely eliminated (though Titan shifters are still around and act as a sort of MAD so that humanity doesn't kill each other. But there's no knowledge to make new ones, and its implied that once the holders of them die, the shifters would die with them, so even that would leave the world. Also no Titan AIDS). It'd just make Eren doubt the nature of humanity, and wonders if they're fated to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Last shot is Eren at the ocean, looking out over an endless horizon filled with doubt and an unsure future of rebuilding civilization. Fin.

While this is better or worse, I distilled down AoT and removed a lot of the fat. Obviously I simplified the plot, so it'd be way more character focused. Obviously I keep Eren as a protagonist. No PATHs, no Marley, no concentration camp, no time travel bullshit, no YMIR, nothing. Just the terror of being eaten alive or killed by religious fanatics who want to end humanity. That's what I would have done with it.

EDIT:
Oh, I said I'd keep everything from the anime and manga in act I. I was wrong. Annie dies in Act I, she's not crystallized.

TIL Isayama, shittiest among mangakas, has absolutely trash tastes. There is nothing new under the sun. At the point she died in, Sasha was one of the few things about the series most of my circle actually liked.

I got nothing else to say to your big rewrite thing other than 'fucking noice'. I don't have the brainpower at the moment to break that down, I'm fucking exhausted.

One thing though- how the fuck does Isayama hate Sasha but keep around Hanji? Hanji, the literal tranny-bait comic relief character that only really grew any serious backbone after she lost an eye. My brain. It aches.

Oh, no doubt. I can't even believe people praise him or think he's a genius. I find that hysterical. Sasha was very well liked all around I think. There was a fan who was crying at why he killed her and he just goes to this girl, "Well, I was going to do it earlier." Fucking lol.

Yeah, its off the top of my head. But basically I took a fucking knife to AoT, kept the Titan danger, simplified and streamlined the plot and made it more character focused. No Titan explanation either.

I don't know dude. The guy's a fucking autistic tard.

I think it's because Hanji can and has done fucked up, edgy shit like torture people, and Sasha hasn't.

Also, if I can put on my tinfoil hat on for a moment, part of me believes it's because he wanted Gabi to be the new Sasha. Yeah, I know she's supposed to be the new Eren, but they look similar enough, and her getting more-or-less adopted by the Braus family kind of cements it imo.

I require documentation of this. I fucking hate Isayama but that might be the funniest shit I've ever heard.

"Why did you do my fave like this?"

"I was gonna do it way back in Trost, weak ass faggot, have you considered Gabi?"

Yeah, its off the top of my head. But basically I took a fucking knife to AoT, kept the Titan danger, simplified and streamlined the plot and made it more character focused. No Titan explanation either.

Shit's pretty good, not gonna lie. I never really went this hard on concepts for stuff outside of Ymir and Historia's arcs. I hate how Historia was done dirty after the timeskip, and I'd made some sort of rewrite idea that emphasizes Hist being more independent and carrying on the spirit of her not-lesbian friend, and becoming an actual leader instead of... you know, a baby factory. God, I hate how he did Historia.

Don't you ever say that cursed shit in my presence again, I'll unironically commit rope neck.

Off-topic, but happy birthday, Petra!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's actually a good thing you got smushed against a tree by Annie's foot, because Levi's an idiot who never seems to be able to keep his big mouth shut when it matters since you didn't get to live to see all the convoluted bullshit that's happened.

Seriously, why the fuck is she wet? Was there water in that fucking thing?

I guarantee you his thought process was: "People in suspended animation are always covered in fluids. Annie is in suspended animation, therefore Annie is covered in fluid." Like his logical process is full of fallacies.

The bitch was in a solid crystal. Firstly, we know Titan armor is basically like nails and shit. If it was like this, it'd be like rhino horn. It's not crystallized....I don't even know. I mean, if you're melting a crystal, you're pretty much sludge with it.

It makes no logical sense, but Isayama is legitametly autistic and doesn't seem to understand basic concepts of wet and dry. Also, if all hardening was water like, why isn't the entire island drowned by a tsunami? Its because Isayama is a fucking idiot and none of the things he does makes any sense.

Not only this, but if her father's dialogue is anything to go by, she also never had to marry Levi. Petra, girl, seriously, you don't know how lucky you are.

"I'll keep Eren in line by torturing the shit out of him and being cold and completely untrustworthy, ready to vivisect him any any moment."

*does nothing but threaten him, never gives him any advice, is a cryptic asshole so Eren is basically alone with the most powerful Titan in the world and has no one to ask for advice because Levi appears 1. Uninterested 2. Ready to strip him down to his organs for study at any moment. 3. Completely cold and untrustworthy. Is surprised Eren betrays him*

"Hey Female Titan user, we're going to torture the shit out of you, cut your arms and legs off and shit. We gotta guy with a shit machine."

*Instead of playing good cop, like 'Don't panic. We just want to understand. We're not going to hurt you'. Annie becomes so terrified at being tortured in perpetuity, she risks being EATEN ALIVE rather than facing endless brutality and cut up like some science experiment*

"Hey Zeke, I'm going to torture the shit out of you, constantly cut off your arms and legs. I'm attaching you to an IED so you can end your pain and suffering at any moment. I'm also going to stand really, REALLY close to it."

*Zeke, delirious and hallucinating from being constantly tortured, becomes barely cogent of reality and only knows he is attached to an explosive device, decides to end his life and triggers the IED which is so powerful it blows him into another fucking dimension.*

Levi is incredibly incompetent. The only thing he's good at is slaying. Its like you're getting your SEAL Team 6 dude with 400 confirmed kills, an adrenaline junkine, who likes violence, to do really important shit. Now that I think on it, even though Erwin's plans were fucking terrible, he'd have been a much better interrogator for prisoners and mentor for Eren. You know, he could have guided him, given him advice. Be a good solid teacher, maybe reign in that rage of Eren's and make it productive. Instead Eren's basically left with no mentors to figure anything out and the scouts are really content with that for some reason.

Also while compiling this, I noticed Levi REALLY REALLY likes torturing people. Like to the level that borders on sociopathy. Isayama, I know Levi is supposed to be a bad ass. But he's constantly torturing helpless prisoners. I'll forgive the thing with Eren, because they were on the verge of executing him, so beating him down and showing how pathetic he was was really the only way to save him. But I still think Levi had a raging erection as he was beating the shit out of Eren. Like, he's not a good person. I mean, the dude basically was stupid enough to strap a live explosive to a man he caused so much pain to, the guy was ready to end his own life. I don't even think he noticed Levi was around, just that he couldn't take the pain anymore. That shit breaks even the strongest will. And if you're constantly regenerating, you know death is no escape unless there's massive damage. Provided conveniently by a point blank explosion, in which your broken body will absorb all the force.

I mean, I get the setting is all 'Edgyboi' shit and we're suppose to find that Levi's torture is ok and totally normal because he's super pissed. But he's just committing war crimes left and right and compromising the safety of pretty much everyone involved. Like, the shit he does is fucked up. The dude should have been given no responsibilities outside of "You murder that. Don't talk or interrogate. When you are done murdering come home." That's the extent of Levi's involvement. I'm even shocked he was given a leadership position. Dudes in the military like Levi are rarely given command roles because they're too unstable. Why he was given any measure of responsibility is mind-boggling to me.

I mean the Scout's promotion seems like: "Just kill things, the more you kill, the higher your rank. It doesn't matter if you're a sociopath, war criminal, or an aloof piece of shit that is basically a cancer on morale."

I know I post a lot on AoT, but it is just how fascinating at how wrong everything becomes. Like you've got this really good premise, a somewhat excellent story with a few blemishes in the first third, and then complete and total failure cascade for the second and third acts. From a literary perspective, its like an anatomy of a murder. You can do a whole course on just the fall of Attack on Titan because of how many mistakes it makes, logic it violates, conventions it ignores and outright gets wrong.

EDIT:
What gets me is I'll recommend again, Attack on Titan: Before the Fall. It is a really good manga, with great characterization, a very simple plot (we have no weapons to kill Titans. We must have weapons to kill Titans), great world building....it is actually better than the main manga itself. Isayama should have been George Lucased a long time ago, get a superior writer and artist and have him consult. And it takes place like 70+ years before the events of Attack on Titan, so we don't have to worry about any of these characters seeing this. Also, the stakes are A LOT higher, since at the beginning of the Manga, all they've got are cannons and men on horseback with swords.

Its got a guy like Hange, but with really a ton more backstory. Like he's one of the greatest smiths, but he saw his young apprentice being devoured before him. Out of revenge, he sets out on an expedition and due to an explosion, basically loses his eyesight. This ties into 'Jorge the Hero' the only man to kill a Titan at that point, but it was really this dude. Because of his shame and anguish, he disappears into the underground, using his amazing skills to help the poor. Its revealed that he simply doesn't want anymore people to die and can't stand the loss of anymore of his friends, and feels he can do better down below. He helps the people and gets drunk in a tavern, only having his passion reignited when the MC comes to him and tells him that they have a way to beat the Titans, 3D manuevering gear. He comes out, but vows to go back down there, since no one is helping him.

If you like the part of stories that goes into the development of the tech, like the Ghostbusters with the proton pack, you'll really love it. Its got memorable characters, good conflict and a race against time as the government is going to disband the scouts for good since all they do is basically ride out and die, being unable to kill Titans.

I'd have torn the story away from Isayama and give it to this author, because its so much better, the story is so much tighter, the plot is simpler and the characters are intricate. There's a clear protagonist and antagonist, the characters motives make sense, and the story flows from an organic point. It doesn't feel like things happen because the author just wants them to, there are actions and consequences that follow due to the character's nature and personality.

I don't HATE Attack on Titan as a concept. I think its brilliant and a lot of things can be done with it. I feel Isayama is a worse George Lucas. Other people can do amazing things with what he came up with, but he just does not have creatives there strong enough to keep him in line.

EDIT 2:
I've got the info on:

I require documentation of this. I fucking hate Isayama but that might be the funniest shit I've ever heard.

"Why did you do my fave like this?"

"I was gonna do it way back in Trost, weak ass faggot, have you considered Gabi?"

I was wrong, It wasn't a fan, it was actually his editor. Got the time wrong too, but the crying thing is real.

Originally, Attack on Titan’s ninth volume was meant to house the death of Sasha. Isayama intended for chapter 36 to feature the character’s death as she circled back to her hometown after evacuating a child who had watched a Titan slowly eat their mother. Unarmed, Sasha was originally meant to fight back against the beast and lose her life in the process, but Isayama changed his mind after his editor could not keep it together.
In fact, the editor has admitted he went to the bathroom to cry after he read Isayama’s first storyboard. He then persuaded the artist to keep Sasha around for a bit longer, saying it didn’t feel like it was the right time to kill off the heroine. So, for now, it looks like Sasha will live to eat more potatoes on another day - but that could change at any time.

Oh sweet summer child, comic book dot com. You are trash, but you got it right this time. So this is proof that Isayama once had competent editors. Where they went? No fucking clue.

Just read the new chapter, and honestly I just enjoy AOT as entertaining schlock with some very good moments. I can sort of see @Secret Asshole's point about Iseyama wanting to make Gabi the new Sasha with her saving the little girl from a titan (which is really stupid cause why the fuck is Gabi carrying such a huge gun like it was a stick?). Though I honestly enjoyed some stuff unironically in this chapter such as Shadis' return, killing the Pixis titan as I was surprised that moment was handled with respect, and I felt the action here was really good and gave me vibes of Return to Shiganshina. Though the Reiner sleeping bit made it sound like Reiner just saw what was going on and went "Lol I'll go take a nap" but really he just slept because he overexerted himself. I liked Connie's moment that he had with Armin because it felt very in character especially knowing that he is going to survive Eren's Final Solution anyways.

Personally though I don't view Iseyama as a malicious person, he honestly just comes across as an autistic westaboo who wanted to emulate stuff like The Mist (given the original ending of AOT Iseyama had in mind was a ripoff of the novel's ending before AOT got popular) and various other western stuff he likes such as Game of Thrones (which is very obvious).

I am curious to see what will be done with Annie, how Levi and Hanji will return to the story, and what will happen to Floch (hope he stays around because his Brown Shirt shenanigans are ironically entertaining).

I know it won't happen but I hope Gabi dies or has no bearing in what will happen to Eren cause she is a shit character.

I mean, I just don't enjoy it on a shlock level anymore. Shlock is corny, fun. Attack on Titan is relatively joyless now, filled with idiotic non-sequitors, destruction of character and world building and author fiat. I mean, he's trying to make her multiple things: Sasha, Eren, etc. There's also no way he kills Gabi.

I mean, the only reason for Annie to return is....I don't really know. Since Isayama does what he wants without logic, context or what's good for the plot, it could be literally anything.

Some slightly fun moments just doesn't save it for me. The chapter was largely pointless for me IMO. He's trying SO HARD to push Gabi and its just not working.
