And his whole comment about JJ desperately wanting to pander to fans is full of more bullshit than Filoni's claim of wanting to honor IG-88's Legends material despite not offering Thrawn the same courtesy despite his shit being far more popular than 88's. JJ is just doing things that only please himself and the higher ups while only sprinkling memberberries and references that only appease the most superficial of diminishing boomers, as well as devotees who will suck up anything. The whole comment about JJ having a secret invisible fan whispering to him as though he really does give a shit about fans want is not only bull but just comes off as a really creepy analogy.
I mean c'mon, Iger, you pretty much threw most of Star Wars under the bus and even then its still too hard for you and Lucasfilm to pander and keep track of things? I also find it amusing that he backtracked again about putting movies on hold. I also wonder if Iger's comments about re-inventing the franchise again might imply that he plans to nuke Disney canon in the future too? Imagine the irony there, considering nu-fans thought the new canon was definitive and would be around forever, and that it would be simpler and easier to follow when its actually more inane and more cluttered than 30 years of content, despite Disney canon only being 6 to 7 years old. Also his last comment about how completely raping SW beyond recognition is better than putting it in a museum is ironic. A state of proper preservation like that would've probably been a better fate than what SW got, and it seems to be doing wonders for Back to the Future which is still very much loved and remembered today in its most pristine form unlike SW or ST which have been butchered to hell and back.

Not really. The decay was already showing up even before that. Marvel wasn't that woke before 2014, but as I've said before wokeness is only a small part of the problem with SW, but not the problem itself. Marvel was still shitty even before that, not because of wokeness, simply because they were mediocre content creators whose only selling point was film tie-ins. They could've been anti-woke lords who triggered SJWs to kingdom come or full on antifa feminists for all I care but that wouldn't change their quality. And Disney began allowing them to make SW comics in 2015 which was already the point where Marvel was already dogshit. It was a horribly cheap decision that chose profits over quality despite fans preferring Dark Horse content. So from a business perspective, sure it made sense, but it was not a good decision for the longevity and popularity of the franchise.
EA already had a decaying reputation even by 2011 and their management of Bioware and SWTOR already made SW fans see them as no good for the franchise. In the end, Disney just did not give a shit and simply went with what would net them the most profits and press regardless if it was good for the franchise or not.

Only person as bad as HelloGreedo is SW Explained, and yeah he's full of it. Even the TFA novel implied a lot of stuff happened between TFA and TLJ, such as Rey meeting Poe despite not even knowing who he was in TLJ. There's also the side stories about how Phasma escaped Starkiller in such a short amount of time. TLJ honestly was incredibly inconsistent even for new continuity standards, yet JJ and Kennedy want us to believe that TLJ changed nothing and that everything's been going according to their non-existent plan.
I'm a simple man with simple thoughts and when I see the Elder Scrolls one, my brain tells me to cook and eat this, even though I have never heard the word "quiche" in my entire life before. On the picture, it looks warm, hearty and frankly just fucking tasty. I don't even know what the ingredients are, all I can guess is that eggs are involved.
The Star Wars one on the other hand looks like something I'd get as an appetizer at some scene bar ran by a metrosexual dude in his late 20s near my university instead of something from a Galaxy Far Far Away. It looks way too inoffensive and dull, even the colours look kind of pale, almost like Vietnam-era movie footage and the background looks uncanny valley as hell somehow. My brain tells me to not waste my time cooking and eating this. It's just that simple.

When I read about that happenig, I was as optimistic for the fractions of a second it took me to read the rest of the sentence where they said they were reserving the right to recanonize certain stories or characters later on. AKA they were too fucking lazy to put in the needed work to streamline things.
The EU canon needed a good, hard pruning. I don't think anyone can disagree with that. 30 plus years of multiple cooks with different priorities creates a tangled mess, but the majority was well worth saving. Disney just tossed it all out, and that was I knew they were going to just fuck everything up.
Honestly it would not even have been that hard. Leland Chee was autistic enough that he could easily surf through all content to weed out inconsistencies, which he was already doing in the final years before the buyout. Only thing that would really be needed was to either completely remove or rewrite the most controversial stuff like the Jedi Academy Trilogy, Dark Empire or New Jedi Order for example of some. Hell they pretty much did that by rewriting Jedi Academy in a follow-up summary novel, and George was already in the process of retconning NJO in Filoni Wars by removing the Vong's immunity to the Force and changing their entire involvement with the galaxy, effectively paving the way for a new narrative that didn't involve them nullifying the victory of the Rebel Alliance or so many needless character deaths. But what that new narrative would involve we will sadly never know because Filoni Wars got fucking cancelled before that and Disney tossed everything out.
