Is it just me or is the availability of video clips surprising to anyone else? It's surreal how much material is floating through the net atm.

It's more just that you have shit taste. If you told me you had tickets to see something like Ford v Ferrari or Richard Jewell, I would tell you to go enjoy the movie. There are "good" movies out there which could arguably be considered worth the money. Why you wouldn't wait for Starwars to be a rental or free plane movie (which is how I catch up with Disney if I ever feel like it) is beyond me.

Edit: It would make sense if you were some huge starwars fan who liked all the other movies a lot, but your posts don't imply that.

Hard disagree. I would never call someone an idiot for having different tastes, but someone who pays for a product he doesn't want is an idiot to me.

It's still baffling to me they went ahead with this new trilogy without even a basic outline of what they wanted to do. It also strikes me that you could cut TLJ down to just the Snoke scene and maybe half of Luke's scenes; this last one would still make sense without 90% of it's predecessor

No kidding. I have a hunch that you could cut TFA and TLJ and just open up with a slightly altered textcrawl and you'd not miss out on anything. Finn is just a random dude whose ex-stormtrooper history figures into nothing in Plan IX, it seems. Just throw in a bit of basic character introduction into the title crawl and Plan IX is a standalone. That#s how discjointed this movie is.

I don’t have any strong feelings about TLJ. It was a movie. I don’t feel as if it was money squandered, but I didn’t sing it’s praises. It had a myriad of issues but I didn’t leave theaters with seething hatred for it. It was more akin to mild amusement. In a similar hand, Quantum of Solace was a complete train wreck of a Bond film. The movie that proceeded that was Skyfall, a personal favorite and one I’ve watched many times over. Bond films are only loosely connected at best, but I was optimistic enough to gamble with this new Star Wars film. Lesson learned.

See, that is what I don't understand. If you were a huge, burning fan of TLJ and were totally ok with the direction the trilogy took expecting something similar in Plan IX and thus pre-ordered your tickets, I would understand it. But the way you talk about it, that doesn't seem to be the case.
And now you're here, telling us that you support a product you don't want to support, cause it's shit and I am wondering why you decided to support it this way in the first place.
Why didn't you wait for word-of-mouth or reviews?

Well, whatever. If you now pay more attention before paying for something you might not want, that's at least something. I mean, it's not the end of the world, paying a few bucks for a shitty movie, but it's not like this was a hard thing to avoid, man.

There's a subset of posters who treat this backlash like some holy crusade instead of laughing at a megacorp letting their own hubris cheat them out of practically guaranteed money, they usually out themselves by typing up spergy essays at any user expressing remote interest in a Disney Star Wars product or admitting to having seen any of them post-TLJ legally.

My issue isn't with anyone expressing interest in nuWars or "admitting to having seen any of them post-TLJ legally". But when someone goes "Oh no, I bought tickets to a shitty movie I don't want to watch", that person is an idiot to me.
Someone buying SW merch like an action figure that they like or watching a show or movie they enjoy, I couldn't give less of a fuck if I tried.

Oh god, I'm starting to imagine the Disney shills going to go the route to demand Disney released the full cut after they mock the DC fans.

Or history goes in a full circle and they demand Disney declare Plan IX non-canon and remake it.

One could argue that Rey's purity and power even cleanses the most irredeemable-appearing person imaginable, but nope, this person wants to see women as powerless, therefore when they do something, it is always twisted in a way that women are powerless. This is why you never win with these people.

A week ago, I would have scoffed at the idea, Disney would never allow something like that to happen. But today? Holy shit. All bets are off.

How the fuck did he even do that anyway? Everyone's standing up, there are maybe a few seconds of some lackluster combat and then everyone is just lying fucking dead on the ground? It's like they just said "yeah fuck it whatever now just go to them dead."

Now would be a good time to tell you my personal fanfic for Star Wars 9. I haven't seen 8 because I heard it was awful, but this is what I had in my head.

Rey has a heart to heart with Kylo Ren. Kylo's kind of a faggy pushover so he's kind of in love with her and offers her a spot at his side in the New Order. She thinks it over and accepts. Everyone is shocked and horrified at this betrayal of the rebellion. However, as the resistance starts petering out, news starts coming in over amnesty for all rebel fighters. The final scene is Po Dameron and his black boyfriend in some sort of Imperial DMV getting their newly issued Imperial passports. The guy at the counter, in his uniform, suggests they take up some freight work with their ship because they're rebuilding some planetary infrastructure. Rey is on some sort of display with Kylo Ren and they're talking about their long-term plans. The moral of the story is that sometimes you have to accept the constraints of reality and work within them as opposed to just killing everyone you disagree with.

I think (to some degree) this was what most people wanted for the end of Episode 8.

They literally almost do this - Kylo offers Rey a spot as #2 in the First Order and suggests they can remake the galaxy how they like.

Rey says no because Star Wars, but it would have been a much better concept than what we got.
