Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

You know, as much as I'm enjoying this movie's failure I'm fucking saddened by what Disney has done to a franchise that endured for 30 fucking years before the prequels. And not only did it survive Lucas "ruining" the franchise the first time, it continued on as strong as ever with good games and series and a fandom that, while prone to disagreement, still got along amicably enough.

But then Disney bought it and everything has been falling apart ever since. The fandom has splintered and all the various factions hate each other, the games have gone to crap because Disney knows jack fucking shit about the game industry and gave the licence to EA (and pretty much exclusively EA for quite awhile) and we got 2 crap Battlefront games in 8 years. Not to mention Rebels and the other animated Disney tripe.

This legitimately might be the end of Star Wars as what it once was, what it had been for nearly 40 fucking years. I just can't see hiw it can recover without decanonizing everything Disney has done and starting again
The sad part is that this entire thing was set in stone so long ago that it was only a matter of time. I'm grateful to have been born to see the last real days when niche nerd culture was not fully accepted. I feel like the fandoms back in the 90s and early 00s were the last of a long line of fans that wore their passion and their heart on their sleeve.
Once nerd culture became accepted; companies commercialized and oversaturated the market. This in turn appealed to the lowest common denominator and incentivized the churning of mediocre garbage.

Why make something that stands on it's own merit when you can just pump out 10 b-tier movies that attract anyone with a surface interest in something "nerdy"?
Why have an overarching theme and narrative that has something to say when you can make 10 movies that say the same thing but with a different gimmick?

I miss the passion that went into building a world, or showing what a hero stood for.

That is one of the stupidest fucking things I have ever seen in regards to writing.
you, a brainlet: plot progression, logical outcome, interesting characters
me, a millionare genius: logic is data points to pander to manchildren nazi russian bots, movie good if no think. just slap vagina on character

Its hard to tell... It feels like he's supposed to be a substitute father but they way its presented feels really creepy. With Anakin and Palpatine it felt more father-son or work friends I guess. This however just feels... really off. It doesn't help that they're surrounded by pretty flowers and that Snoke looks really effeminate.

"I've been thinking... about things Ms. Snoke... I think I love you." They don't even really show how they met. He just runs off to Snoke's arms after "killing" Luke, and I guess Luke knew Snoke.

"Snoke, my ass still hurts from what you did to it the other night"

I know you just post here to bait, come on man, put more effort in it than

to be fair, the TFA/RO stuff in the original eafront was probably the game's best content.

Bruh I'm not "baiting". Just doing research for my anthropology class. If someone can explain to me why obsessing over Sonic or My Little Pony is autistic and lolcow material, but obsessing about Star Wars - just another franchise of children entertainment - is absolutely normal, I promise to leave this thread forever and let you sperg in peace.

Why the fuck is Snoke in drag?

It was only a matter of time before the yaoi fujoshits took over marvel.

Who said it's normal? This entire site is autistic, who else would document and archive one person's tweets and funny material for months and months?

Oh, this is the PERFECT thing to drive a wedge in the shipping community. Most shippers will hate this because it sinks their ship. Then you'll have the other factions calling them toxic for "queer-shaming" or "looks-shaming". The flame wars will be something to watch.

Re Adam Driver.

Sorry to lower the tone, but shouldn't the canon offspring of Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford have been played by someone more conventionally attractive than Adam fucking Driver?

He doesn't even vaguely resemble either of them
I disagree..

I think he looks like them at least passively. I think the character takes more after the mother(facially). But, he has Han's height and wirely smirk(which he never got to use it seems). He also has a very masculine nose, like Ford. But, he has thin lips and a weak chin.

If you wanted him to look more like Ford? No, he doesn't.

Y'know, despite how much of a meme it became, I gained a newfound appreciation for Eisner after watching a lot of Defunctland, particularly the season 2 finale. Sure, we can poke fun at how he greenlit a bunch of questionable/edgy ideas to try and give Disney a more mature image, and the entire EuroDisney debacle is funny in hindsight, but I have to give the man some credit. He presided over the Disney Renaissance, releasing hit after hit that turned the company's fortunes around and helped to create the modern Disney empire (for better or worse). And at least when they released unnecessary sequels back then, they went straight-to-video where they belonged, unlike modern Disney that shoves that garbage into theaters for full price.

Hearing Eisner talk about how Hollywood is completely uncreative and risk-averse in the season 2 finale was kind of an eye-opener, and made me realize just how shit of a job Iger has been doing in his stead. I was also floored to find out that his company was behind BoJack Horseman, one of my favorite shows of the past few years.

The fact he hated Lost with a passion is just icing on the cake. Keep on truckin', Eisner.

Man, it's really hard to choose between Parasite and The Lighthouse for me as best movie of the year (that I've seen). Everyone in this thread: if you haven't seen them, you owe it to yourself to cleanse JJ's filth from your mind and watch some great movies. Both are excellent films in every aspect, and JJ wishes he had even a modicum of their directors' talent.
I would say, don’t listen to what defunct land says since Kevin Perjur has a 0 understanding of anything he says and has at least 3 inaccuracies per video, and instead read/listen to that book I mentioned. It’s called “Disney War” and it really does give you the full picture of a man who got more and more jaded over time. His heart attack was really the moment that changed him. Good read for anyone. Good business theory, a lot of great history from the 80’s to 2005, and a lot of managerial insight for Disney fans. You also get a better understanding of Bob Iger from it

Yet they totally miscalculate that a lot of female viewers would actually love some sort of romantic relationship.
that's pretty much the case since hollywood exists, what are those hacks doing there?

it also makes zero sense in how snoke has been portrayed, either TFA or TLJ.
I don't even wanna try to think about what went into that design and writing, it's not even on the daddy issues level you usually see these days...

And the sequel trilogy stuff in the sequel is sadly the game's worst content.

how bad is it? last time I played was when they put in coop only to see it was still gimped af, and while I had some fun (mainly due to being star wars and looking damn good) pretty soon I was "meh, why bother" because gameplay was still the same shitty meatgrinder since the first eafront.

He should have looked like Ford. If we're going just off the fact that it's Kylo Ren, and we can't redo the character, not looking like Leia and thus Anakin would only drive his resentment further. Also, why does he have black hair? Anakin had brown-blonde hair, Padme had brown hair, Leia had brown hair, and Han had brown hair.

Personally, I don't get the claims he looks like a Skywalker. He doesn't resemble Anakin, even slightly.

Better. I don't agree with the sucking off it's getting, as if it's great. The star card system still sucks, there's no ground to space or space to capital ship gameplay, the appearance system sucks and since you have to buy them the Instant Action often looks wonky if you have the wrong skin (instead of, you know, changing the skins of the other troops), the lightsaber combat is still very wonky, and the vehicle system could only charitably be described as okay. Also, you can still play as any hero in any era due to a lack of content, and it just looks stupid.

No joke, the Lego TFA game was one of my favorites; it brought more life to the worlds and settings than the movie ever did. It was paced better too; TFA could have been improved enormously by an editor who understood that drama needs to be allowed to breath and break up the action.

That’s the real tragedy of the Disney Trilogy: there were a lot of concepts and design elements that really had potential if they had just given it to someone who actually understood real people.

The TFA teaser was a stroke of genius and if I could have the version of that film that existed in my mind from that minute and a half of content, I’d be more than happy.

The concepts were there, and immediately compelling:

1) An awakening in the Force, shown in a Stormtrooper, drenched in sweat, wrestling with a sudden connection to the life-force of the universe that he never even believed existed.

2) The slow approach of the new X-Wings, a republic desperately clinging to the heroic iconography of the Rebellion, the pilot’s face wearing an the exhaustion of years of attrition against a foe that should have dissappeared with the Death Star.

3) An impoverished loner, living in true destitution, struggling to get by in an uncaring, inhospitable Galaxy, deserted by a Republic government more obsessed with eradicating the remains of the Empire than allowing its citizens to prosper.

4) A new threat from the dark side, crude and unrefined, but crackling with raw power, seeking its own way in the balance of the Galaxy unshackled by the burden of the Sith’s past failures.

And before you dismiss this as edgy bullshit that doesn’t fit in the swashbuckling adventure mold of Star Wars, remember that the prequels tried many of these themes and mainly failed due to poor execution as opposed to the weakness of the concepts.

You can set a fun, Star Wars adventure in a world that’s grounded and well-thought out while letting the dark implications fester in the background while they add to the urgency and drama. A New Hope finishes it’s first act with a fucking genocide for God’s sake.

The Sequel trilogy lacked coherent world building. It lacked the interesting stories going on in the background that made the galaxy feel real and lived-in. The camera is glued to protagonists, and even then their story is lazy, haphazard and honestly just weak overall. Hell, it doesn’t even make sense in the wider context.

Lucas had way more answers for how the Galaxy functioned and what was going on in other parts of it than anyone on the Disney story team, even if a lot of those answers were stupid.

Padme/Shimi had black hair, it was in the gene pool.

He doesn't look like Luke, or much like Anakin. But, if we were to take all the preceding family members of the Skywalker family: he looks like he could be one of them
