Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

It has an 88 on rotten tomatoes for audiences. How many of them are doing it to spite critics I wonder?

Well then

It's more that the Rat realized that after controlling the critic score, people looked at the audience score more often since that was less rigged. It's just changing the tactic to try and fool people; they did this bullshit with Maleficent 2 as well after all.

Really, I need to check the audience reviews to see how new these accounts are to get an idea. Wouldn't be fucking surprised since they had fake reviews for Star Wars Resistance.

Honestly, George only needs to come forward and say "I don't consider this sequel trilogy canon" and Disney would lose all legitimacy.

George had gone on record stating he considered the old EU a parallel universe and that didn't stop people from declaring it their canon.

Though I guess GL didn't express open contempt for the EU.

There's also the possibility of the people seeing the movie today being hardcore Star Wars fans who love the Sequel Trilogy to begin with.
I'm suspecting newish accounts that write basically non-reviews that give them 10/10 in the saddest fake review way ever. That is then kept on because the owner of the Site is a former Rat employee who likely still has ties to them.

Literally what was done for the last few mediocre Rat releases.

It's nice that a lot more fans are indeed speaking with there wallets, since you now need verified tickets to actually review it thanks to Captain Marvel. Though I'm really terrified that Disney will look at this and spin it as proof that fans love thier nu-trilogy. *sigh*

And they call US the bots!

Some notes from the cam rip:
  • Klaud shows up as part of the crew in the first scene on the falcon. No explanation is given.
  • Rey is introduced in the film hovering in the air, eyes closed and sitting in lotus position, while boulders swirl around her. 20 seconds later she cannot defeat a training remote with a lightsaber

  • Palpatine looks like a blob fish. His third or fourth line "I have died before". Hahaha like nigga you never died that's the whole point of this POS movie

  • Palpatine's mega broadcast mentioned in the opening crawl warned the Galaxy that he was going to attack all "free worlds" in 16 hours. Very nice of him to do that

I was surprised that the movie from the trailers and spoilers was beat by beat 110 percent. I thought the spoilers and leaks might have been fakeouts somehow, but nope.
And yes, its the most basic video game or dungeons and dragons sort of plot ever. They have the magical item treasure map and it leads them on a quest to yadda yadda yadda and they need to kill the evil wizard that is threatening something or other. Between buying the IP and producing, promoting and distributing this movie they probably cost close to half a billion dollars and its the most stock standard Treasure Map Adventure anybody could possibly do with Star Wars.
It is such a bland, artless, gutless anticlimax.

Showing just ended. Banal until the end at which point I have so many questions that amount to nothing. Where did they get the resources for all those ships on a single planet? How did Sheev get there if they didn’t have the mcguffin? How did Snoke get off the planet without it? How did Sheev go full goddamn Frieza when we have no reference for any sith or jedi being able to do things of that magnitude before? Why does Leia’s corpse not disappear immediately? How does Han show up and is that just in Kylo’s head?

I wonder what being a long time Star Wars fan, someone who has been following the franchise for 20+ years, feels like at this very moment.

Disinterested! I was that nerdy kid who turned 11 the same week Star Wars released in ‘77 and had his little prepubescent mind blown. I was a steady fan over the years. A happy and thrilled high schooler when they finally started releasing novels, and blown away by the Thrawn Trillogy. (I gave up somewhere around dropping a moon on Chewbacca). I loved the original Marvel Comics. Even the giant green bunny man. I loved the Dark Horse ones. I loved most of the video games. While not an insane Star Wars collector I have both a few cherished toys fromback in the day, as well as some nicer more modern ones that catch my eye in my office. I was ground zero for Star Wars fandom. Happily devoured it for a lifetime. The Disney movies made me not care. I don’t want to see what happens next. I don’t care what happens to these characters. I have no interest or investment in them. At first I assumed it was the old “I’ve just finally outgrown it all and gotten bored with Star Wars”. Then I recently watched The Mandalorian. And went back and rewatched The Clone Wars. And I realized I am interested and invested in THOSE characters. I still want to see what happens next to them. I’m liking the new Jedi Fallen Order video game. It’s hitting all the right notes. So I still find the franchise and fantasy world compelling. But like others have said, the Disney movies excepting Rogue One are just sub par self insert fan fiction. And I find I can’t give two shits about them.

Only actor who actually looks/acts like they should be in a Star Wars movie is Adam Driver....

He is only one who has any sort of presence in this fucking movie.

Luke put in all his effort and couldn't lift his x-wing. He called it impossible.

And by that point he had considerably more training in the force than Rey had in the whole trilogy here. Baffling.

Like mother, like daughter. Just lost the will to live.
I guess the broken-ass Vader farce powers just skipped a generation.

*Nervous mumbling in hack as he realizes he can't just let some goy do the hard lifting for him now*

Literally just that.

Boyega and Isaacs have some potential too tbh; they just got dunked on harder by Ruin's decision to be a petty cunt, and they have less of it than Driver did.

In fact, come winter break, I think I'll napkin script how I'd take Plan IX, using the napkin scripts I previously made for it as where it comes from.

I'm just talking episode 9...

Ridley completely regressed as an actress. She is beyond wooden in this....

In 7 she seemed at least enthusuastic and emotive...
