IMO, Phil is lying about the majority of the things his "parents" bought. Phil's parents only seemed to suddenly step up their spending roughly around this year. I think they're just a screen to try and fill the giant hole in Phil's narrative of how he desperately needs X amount of money and can't even afford to buy games, yet he constantly ends up with all these other expensive items, even though all of his money is going towards his bills that he has to pay every for the 32nd time that month. A lot of the things that his "parents" are buying for him are pretty similar to the stupid items we've seen Phil purchase in the past. And why would his parents suddenly help out now but not any of the other times in the last few years, before he was in the worst financial situation of his life. And let's be real, even if Phil was genuinely struggling financially to the point he needed to turn to his parents money for help, we all know that wouldn't stop him from buying things like ornaments and ordering food for the holidays instead of cooking, since he can't find any Italian sauce based Thanksgiving/Christmas recipes.
I wouldn't be surprised if some of the expenses he claims covered by his parents are legit. I could see him only agreeing to fly out to his parents if they paid, or them covering the costs as part of the wedding. Maybe they even gave him a big monetary wedding gift which he's claiming he used for taxes, because in Phil's world, he only spends money on bills and taxes.
The other possibility is Phil is still lying, but the lies are about how much support he was getting from his parents in the past, with them contributing a lot more than we knew and Phil only just now mentioning it. The reason I'm not inclined to go this route is we know how much Phil makes, so it seems much more likely he wants to humble brag/overshare about whatever purchases he's making, but he wants to mask how much money he's had/push away criticism when people ask why he's buying X while crying poor and insisting he can't even buy games to play and is consistently overdrawn on his bank account. He's also done a similar thing in the past by insisting some of his bigger purchases were actually donated anonymously from his fans. Though just for the sake of argument, if we go that he was lying about how much support he gets from his parents, those past examples could have theoretically been them.
dave tries so hard to make sure strangers on the internet think he has a "normal life", and his ego is so huge, a near 40yr old man trying to impress ppl on the internet, evident by him treating super turbo like his evo tournament
I can't help but think he's lying to his parents about what he is using their money for, which is why we saw an increase in random qvc items
my only other autistic theory, is khet ordering all this shit from qvc / amazon (exercise bike, air fryer, etc), and he has noone to vent to about it, and god forbid anyone know he married a depressed, jobless housewife, better yet, she's probably spending his money too, so as a cover story, he tells his audience " my parents", (not khet), are buying all these things, to protect his "being poor" narrative, and to protect his "family"
it's so easy for dave to lie, he knows khet doesn't watch, and his parents don't watch, so there's noone to hold him accountable for his lies, and he probably keeps his office door shut while khet is home cause he doesn't want her to hear him lying
even at my lowest, fired from my job, my gf and kids (actual family, not a cat) left when I told her I was going to prison for armed burglary which I did to support my drug addiction, I couldn't ask my parents for help, I don't know how dave constantly expects his parents and wheelchairs just to constantly bail him out
