Question for people knowledgeable about fighting games...

Do DSP's criticisms regarding the newer Street Fighter games hold any merit? He constantly says that the newer versions involve more guessing and less skill, and I believe he says that some things have no counter unless the enemy makes a mistake.

I don't know shit about fighting games, and he should be someone who knows what he's talking about when the subject is SF, but to me it seems like he's just trying to say that the version he was good at is the only one that is objectively good.
Super Turbo is mainly his go to, and he plays on a platform that rarely anyone of merit goes on. Most go on Fightcade. As much as he bitches about the speed on the platform he plays, he will still stay and use it as a canned excuse so he can beat scrubs most of the time while getting a rare one that pushes his shit in.

He takes fighting games too personally because it's just you and the other person, and he cannot blame anyone else like a team game. It takes too much of a hit to his ego that learning a new game where everyone is playing means the chances of fighting someone competent is higher, that will get his shit pushed in.

Seriously bragged about hitting the leaderboard for Marvel Vs Capcom infinite, on the ps4. Another game divided between other platforms, hitting rank in the 100s on a very new game, that most people just refused to play in the first place because it was pretty bad. So he took the money and ran while he was at top before people that gave a shit like he does about ST; by putting more time into the game or simply avoided online to learn the game more.

Fighting games at this point are the only genre he seems to have some sort of passion for.

Speaking of Marvel VS Capcom, I think he said he played the other ones, and there was this whole thing about "Well, Khat doesn't like Marvel movies, so I don't watch them anymore", which makes me wonder, did he have an interest in comics ?
He said he liked collecting comics and all that kinda stuff that his mom would buy him. Wolverine toy story reinforces this.

He got fucked in Marvel Vs Capcom 2 by the filthy blacks in the fgc.

No, the things he bitches about not existing definitely exist, they just exist in different forms or are represented differently visually in the game.

His problem is he doesn't play enough to actually learn the games or learn when characters are vulnerable, effective footsies and zoning, etc. He thinks they don't exist because he doesn't understand how they work in the game.

Here's an example of Phil's opinion on fighting games. Street Fighter 5 is bad because it's a guessing game.

Street Fighter 2 is a good game because you punch your opponent forcing them to block. Then you have the option of three different moves you can use in them and they have to be able to predict which one to block.

Guessing = bad Predicting = good
Even though they mean the same thing

Phil was a huge comic book fan. He collected comic. He collected comic book trading cards. He brought toys. He bought statues. He bought hard cover books about comics. He was very sad Stan Lee died. He has comic book shirts. He dressed up as the Punsiher and Deadpool.

Kat doesn't like comics so Phil recommend all this to he doesn't like conice either.

Alottapeepul don't rate SF5 as highly as previous entries, common complaints being that they've limited movesets by locking things behind V-triggers, or that they've reduced combo freedom. The "there's literally nothing I can do in this matchup" excuse he gives, he seems to give for every fighting game he plays, including his favorite old ones.
It's incredible that he keeps spouting the same excuses about how things his opponents do don't work offline, or how there's nothing he can do, even for brand new games that he's jumped straight into, no labbing or anything. He hasn't played fighters offline in years, he knows absolutely zero about them, but that doesn't stop him.

Can anyone tell me what game the DSP fan art slides are meant to be that has a weird alien tank and the other has a strange flower headed lion thing.

Going by the Wolverine toy lore he wanted (as what a 9 year old or so?) the variant original costume version of the toy because it was worth more money. If you apply this same thought process to the comics boom in the 1990's it's fair to assume Phil also got into comics for the very same reason - because publishers were oversaturating the market with variant covers and trying to gouge gullible collectors at every turn. It was this greed that saw the ass fall out of the market and many of these releases lose their purported value. Phil has actually talked about the comic books market crash before so.. yeah make of that what you will.

It all lines up pretty well.. Phil has been a money hungry shit stain since birth. Bonus trivia - a company called Dynamic Forces, who specialised in selling autographed/exclusive/variant comics used to sell their stuff in the 90's on QVC of all places. 2+2= it's a buyer's market for comics (the salesman used buzzwords - phil's kryptonite - and accentuated how much better buying these versions would make you above all your friends) and darksydemahm was probably hooked on buying her fav little man $60 spiderman books that retailed with the regular covers for $5 at the newsstands.

Nah it's just his usual excuses. He gets mixed up because he can't read his opponents. He doesn't even play high level either so he doesn't even scratch the surface of SFVs okizeme

SF5 is one of the more honest versions of SF, if you have a strong neutral game and grasp of fundamentals you should be able to outplay your opponent. The thing he doesn't get is not every character needs to have a counter to every move; that's where things like tier lists and match-up knowledge come in. Hell, they made it so you can't even chip your opponent out; your final hit needs to be a real hit. As much as he bitches, and I'm kinda glad he doesn't play anime fighters; because if he played something like Blaz Blue, and got matched against a pro Arakune or Mu-12, his cries of "nothing I could do" would have merit. But SF; it's not perfect, but not as fucked as he thinks.

Did anyone ever dox Derich?

Phil refuses to acknowledge him in chat the way he does papavera/other paypigs and when forced via tip reading from other people to mention him "X cheered and said say good night to derich... [mumbles a good night]" he looks pissier than normal.

Derich spent the ENTIRE roblox segment trying to play Roblox with Phil and since Phil wouldnt acknowledge his spam in chat eventually resorted to essentially stream sniping him to get into a lobby that Phil promptly left.

Its the most baffling continuing relationship of Phil and his autism vortex chat by far.

Whats up with this weird shit. Is it because derich doesn't attach money or something?

It's probably money related. The only time he ever acknowledges Derich is after Derich finally gets someone willing to cheer and say "Derich says..."

Derich was kind of first doxed years ago when he told Phil he couldn't contribute anymore because his mom found out he was using her credit card without her permission. He was like 15 or 16 years old.

Then his YouTube got found and he used a face cam so everyone knew what he looked like. His YouTube also had some questionable playlists of very young girls. I suppose you could argue it wasn't that creepy since he was a minor too.
