Why the actual fuck would anyone hide the name of an artist who posts their work specifically to spread their message and get as many eyes on their work as possible just because they're criticizing it rather than praising it?
The thing about making your career all about getting attention (because attention means people are more likely to pay for your work) is that you gotta take the good with the bad, you don't get to just turn it all off and hide under the covers when you fuck it all up.
Wait until this starts to blow over and Jess realizes that if she tries to brush it off with "everyone makes mistakes once in a while, let's learn from it and move on" she'll lose her only reason for hating on her favourite youtube targets.
The hardcore social justice crowd does not forgive any slip ups, no matter how innocent or long ago.
Also fuck me, these people who rail on and on about accepting each other and how everyone is important trying to justify hating a character that, in canon, has had three lines with nary a sour word in them being held up as a pillar of empathy and acceptance is mind boggling.
Calling him a skinhead and racist is just beyond reaching, and calling artists transphobic or hateful for literally making a comic where a guy just makes pleasant conversation with no mention of Jess or trans people is just really really weird.
The people lashing out clearly aren't thinking before they type or evaluating the situation in any way.
They're just angry because someone they perceive as a perpetual victim is facing consequences for posting their own hateful rhetoric and they have no real leg to stand on in the argument so they're just spewing every word in the Tumbler Thesaurus for "people who disagree with me" they can find without a single thought or possibly any real knowledge of their actual meaning.
Which is made even sadder by the fact that it lays bare the fact that these people clearly don't care about facts, logic or context, it's all just about siding with whoever has the most medals in the oppression olympics.
My god, what a sad and miserable lot they all are. I'd be exhausted being that angry and ignorant all the time.

The original comic doesn't say anything about him being racist, homophobic, transphobic or anything.
It says he's a rich dude bro and a douchebag.
Those are the descriptors Jess uses to justify reveling in his misfortune.
His social class, his gender and the fact that he's got a bro-y attitude. That's it guys, that's our context. You don't get to close your eyes and wish really really hard she had said he was a serial killer who targets black trans jewish sex workers.
edit 2: Okay all that made me seem angry, and by all means rate me as mad on the internet if you'd like, but I'm mostly just confused and the more and more I think about this the less it all makes sense.

I love how people legit interpret this kind of stuff as a Nazi dogwhistle of some sort.

I didn’t believe it when I first watched his video but maybe YaBoiZack is on to something when he talked about these so called social Social Justice Warriors lacking normal emotions and being mostly driven by hate and only being happy when things go bad for people in a completely disproportionate way.
Also it’s nice to see this drama has nothing at all to do with Jess being trans, although I imagine it’ll be pretty tempting to use that in future comics as a shield against criticism.

Look, when it comes to schadenfreude, the Farms is no place to throw stones. We have a term for people doing that specifically to name and shame them.
I don’t care that she’s laughing at pewds. Pewds can take it. The problem is that she never justified that within the scope of the comic, and instead reacted to someone questioning it with being a festering asshole.
When I think ‘gamer douchebro’, I think my mate who hacks his weapons to deal 100x the damage and pretends it’s skill. There’s a lot of people like that. I don’t think “that one lets player Pewdiepie”. If you’re going to mock someone, grow a spine and name them. You were being simultaneously as subtle as an erupting fire hydrant and yet vague enough that everyone up to date would know exactly who you’re talking about, and everyone who wasn’t would have no clue.
Aside from that, most subtle edit I could do to bring this comic out of memery would be:
Panel 1: Leave as is.
Panel 2: Name Pewds, otherwise don’t change.
Panel 3: “Have you heard about the stuff hes been doing?” “Not really, I haven’t watched him in years.”
Panel 4: “Trust me, if you were up to date, you’d be chuckling too.”
Without even changing poses, that saves J, keeps new guy intact, and makes them a duo of “Naive Sweet and Knowing Sour”, a classic duo.
Edit: I still think it'd be a bad comic, but that would at least get it out of offensively bad territory.
