PayPal should partner with Twitch and start a similar hype train program so streamers like Phil can get those sweet immediate funds.

I doubt Phil wants more viewers or fans even. He has a very small following, yet those few drop big boy money on him.
I think he's aware if more people show up drama can happen, and there is a chance really vicious trolls could show up.

Phil would definitely prefer 1 paypig that gives him $100 over 100 fans that give him $1 each. He'd be making the same amount of money and it's far less work. For Phil, it's not about "organic growth" or having a legitimate fanbase (he gave up on those aspirations long ago), it's about squeezing as much money from as small a group of diehard autists as possible. Having more viewers just means that Phil has to keep up the appearance that he's trying to be entertaining, when we all know he'd rather sit there in dead silence while the money rolls in without having to ask. The only times any discussion would occur are when Phil is demanding to be babied through a game or he's whining about some boomer shit. He gets very angry at the few paypigs who try to engage in actual conversation, referring to their questions as stupid and calling them fucking idiots and children who know nothing about the real world, usually followed by a toxic "fuck off ack ack ack". You'd think at some point they would get the hint, but then again if they had even that much awareness they wouldn't be a paypig.
Every single opportunity Phil has had to potentially gain new viewers and fans has been met with him doing everything he can to avoid it. Someone sends thousands of viewers to his stream, it's time to end the stream right away and we get the infamous "Some things are more important than money, real talk" line. There have been numerous attempts by other streamers to collaborate with Phil, and his response is to always hem and haw over it until the last minute when he cancels then blames the other person for it not working out. Phil has isolated himself to the point where all of the remotely rational people have given up on Phil, what he has now are bottom of the barrel reetards who will give him money no matter how badly they're treated. Just the way he wants it.

It's funny that despite DSP being a whale in mobile games, and generally having a terrible, terrible understanding of anything that has to do with money, he has figured how exploitative and broken the system was and effectively operates on the same regarding his fanbase.

Having a wide audience, convincing a lot of average Joes to spend a dollar because you provide good entertainment, that takes effort. Putting out a trash product and getting a few exceptional individuals hooked, then squeezing every dollar out of them, now that is easier.

Twitch melted into an unrecognizable money grabber platform. The amount of tools to pretend you do something more exciting than emptying your pockets disgusts me to infinity and beyond. And every streamer who activates those features is walking talking dirt. And the worst part: You can't even deactivate some greed tools, like mass-gifting subs. Whoever invented this deserves a whole hearted punch in the face.

So I caught my first pre-stream of DSP and holy crap is the music this bad everyday?

41 minutes and still no gameplay holy shit.

Also sidenote, has he ever thought of instead of asking for money telling his viewers to share his videos and stuff to get more people to watch him.

twitch will probably force streamers into some licensing agreement like what happened at UFC, they took sponsorships away from fighters then paid them a tiny sponsorship fee, and barred fighters from accepting sponsorships

I mean, most people who are really in to video games that I know are pretty technical and used to solving technical issues. I mean games are buggy, yes even consoles and console games get fucked up from time to time, so a key part of being a "gamer" is handling trouble shooting to fix issues.

In a way playing a video game is trouble shooting in it's self, you're looking for solutions that will get you to the next phase of the game. Mind you that might be a stretch but still it's not at all out there to think of "gamers" as generally very tech savvy people, doubly so for anyone who gets in to PC gaming.

It's just another way for him to revise his own history. One day he'll be bragging about how he used to set up LAN parties and build computers and all that, and the next day he's baffled by a USB cord. The only consistent thing about Phil is his inconsistency. This facade of his where he can't do mundane things, or he winds up "taking the scenic route" to do mundane things (thereby making them monumental tasks) is part of the pignosis. His guppies and whales might take pity on him and fling him a few pitybux to hold his hand through games and such. In retrospect, it's actually a pretty effective grift on his miniscule audience and probably why he flipped his shit when he got hosted and immediately ended the shtreem. Some things are more important than money...like tipping. Tipping is the best way to help.

I remember my first reaction of watching Phil live on Twitch after getting my fill of YT detractor videos: most depressing display of a streamer I'd ever seen in my life. He just looked so fucking miserable.

When you're confronted with his droopy ass face, low energy, condescending attitude all at once, it's just shocking. I was so confused as to how this guy still existed and how miserable he fucking looked. That made it all the more interesting to me to dig into DSP lore and find out what made him who he was today. And, oh boy, did I find a lot of shit to gawk at.

That's the thought that never left me and I always remind myself: there's no way a 38-year old man can possibly enjoy the situation he is in today no matter how may times he repeats the words "positive" and "love my job" ad-nauseum.

I could see this, but I could also see them going more straightforward with the systems they're building up and attempting to restrict the use of external payment programs (like Paypal) because they're, in theory, losing a lot of money by streamers circumventing Twitch involvement, like our porcine friend here. I don't know how they could really police it, but they seem to manage with the 'don't refer to bits as currency'.

This could fuel an exodus to a place like Mixer that is looking to grow and will not enforce that restriction yet, but it seems like a lot of money is passing under Twitch's nose without them getting a cut. They have viable income methods of their own, they just don't force streamers to prioritize them. If they did that, enough streamers would probably stick around because of their established viewerbase that Twitch would see more money come in. Phil would probably start spewing bile at Twitch while making comments like "If you check my twitter, you'll see that Twitch is but one of the many places I run my business..."

Twitch hasn't really had a Youtube-level overhaul when it comes to money. They could be due to do so soon.

Lord have mercy, he goes absolute clown mode the second the "hype train" starts. He actually stopped playing and started staring at chat and expectantly looking for cheers. They're mostly trickling in 100 bits at a time. Apparently the last one got 98% of level 1. LOL, this one only got to 50% of Level 1. He was staring so hard at it as it died.

He kept saying that people could try to start it, but he doesn't want it to derail the stream. Then every time someone cheered, he would stop, t-pose, explain how the hype train works and give a countdown for when they have to achieve the next level. It's going to derail the stream if you do it like that, Phil.

And again, he has said no less than 3 times in the last 10 minutes that he set the cooldown to an hour to make sure it doesn't derail anything. Maybe if you feel it's still derailing, you should set it to higher than the minimum cooldown, Phil.
