How about who is reporting those numbers... the answer is FUCK NO. It's not slowing down, its increasing. It's just Chinaland's fucking lying again. And the reason why is to try to hide the bullshit about how fucking bad this shithole of a country is.

Update:
The Downfall Of China's Economy - Vietnam Takeover? 17:11 minutes 2/17/2020

At the 4:25 mark is one of the many reasons why I stopped doing business over there.
The supreme irony is Communist China started a war with Vietnam over the Khmer Rouge and lost, even though they pretend they won. I remember reading the families of the soldiers that were killed in the conflict were pissed off the CCP wouldn't let them erect markers over their graves, that's how butthurt they still are. You have to admire the Vietnamese who fought off the Japs, French and Americans and then still had the appetite to put down the mad dogs of Cambodia and afterward the Chinese as well.

Good luck Vietnam, save us from the CCP!

Just had a thought while washing dishes. For some reason, I get a lot of thoughts while washing dishes.

If you notice, far as can be told all the areas in China being locked down are populated primarily by Han Chinese. In China, if you aren't Han Chinese you are basically a second-class citizen. And as far as the rest of the world goes, if you aren't Han Chinese you are a barbarian. The Chinese have always considered China the center of the world. If you look at the Chinese character for China, a rectangular shape with a line down the middle, it means "middle". Any other characters just add to the name of the country.

China has about a million Uighurs, Muslims, in camps. Doubt these camps have been provided for on the same level as for "free" Chinese. Suggest the camps are crowded places at the best of times. Would also doubt there's much of a medical system in these camps - dispensaries/clinics, take the worst off to the hospital. Should this virus get loose in these camps, and I see no reason why it cannot, wonder what the death toll will be. Under the expected living conditions in the camps, believe the virus could have a field day. Have heard nothing about the people in these camps. If anyone has any news/info, please put it out there.

This is also the thing that puts paid to China's bluster about being a great power. This thing has kicked the CCP and Xi's ass, royally. This has shown the world that China doesn't have feet of clay, they have feet of shit. The world also sees how the CCP deals with a major calamity - arrest those raising the alarm. The world also sees how the CCP treats people who are sick - like animals. Will never forget seeing the couple put into a metal box on the back of a pickup. That is not the act of a great country, that's the act of a bunch of CCP thugs scared Beijing will chop their heads off as sacrificial lambs, which is going to happen anyway.

We aren't talking just sick/dead people, either. Swine flu still going on. Avian flu happening. Must question if the CCP can effectively handle all three problems, and I believe you would agree the answer is no.

Xi really needs to think about just what's happened. His glittering cities have Third World-level health care and water systems. His people cannot feed and supply the millions they have incarcerated in their own homes. Does Xi believe the people will forget this? Does Xi believe people will forget all the loved ones the CCP left to die? Does he think he has the respect of any major world leader any more? I don't think so. Yeah, they'll work with him, but now the game has changed. You can bet President Trump knows this; he can smell blood in the water.

Going a bit further, this needs to be a wake-up call to the world economy. They've put too many eggs in one basket, and the basket's been damaged. Some companies had already moved out of China. More will do so as soon as possible, to Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, maybe India, Mexico, and some will come to or return to the USA. Gonna need to revisit this "just-in-time" shit, too. Not working real well these days, is it. Not going to kill anyone to have a month's worth of parts on hand. Dumbest fucking thing I ever heard of. You need a system that has a measure of resilience. Now, the money these companies think they've saved gets spent to buy parts somewhere else, or is lost due to inability to produce.

When this is over, and it will end some day, I look for every Chinese that can afford to do so and who can get out to get the fuck out. No longer an upside to staying in China. Don't believe the CCP will do any better at handling the next catastrophe. They have not learned. All the CCP cares about is staying in power.

The Chinese people are a great people. They have given much to the world. Sadly, they've always suffered under one-man rule. So not to rag on any non-spy Chinese. They didn't let the virus loose. They may have loved ones sick or dead there. They are human beings, too. They love. They hurt. Save the anger for the inhuman CCP.

Be alert and stay aware. We don't know how Xi will act or react going forward. The bottom is about to fall out of his precarious and all important economy. People are dying, how many can he afford before his Military is weakened? His food supply is threatened and has the potential of crumbling. And various points of his empire are groing restless regarding his various failings. Is Chinese Communism going to go quietly into the night? Is Xi? Or is he going to attempt to blame shift to a foreign power and start a war on top of his other problems? Because nothing brings it all together quite like a war.

So I was watching Tucker Carlson and he was talking about this:
so the bat flu and its economic impact might have the unintended consequence of taking down California since it's heavily and disproportionately invested in Chinese companies.

Good luck, Corona-chan!

To be fair, putting Muslims in the re-education camps is something the whole world should be doing and we have lots to learn from the Chinamen on this issue.

Thank you Dr. Purr, very cool

Check your math again bud. 60% of the US is over 200 million people, 2% of that is over 4 million dead, not 800 thousand.
That 2% death rate is based on every person who is critically ill receiving hospital care. Once the number of ill are above a certain threshold, and people are too sick to care for the critically ill, or they don't have enough supplies to keep medical staff from constantly being reinfected, then the death rate will climb and climb.

There is an almost unlimited number of things that can go wrong and get worse, and basically nothing that can get better.

Yeah, it's not really great if a country completely disintegrates while it's sitting on a pile of nukes, even old busted ones. Say this turns out to be half as bad as the Spanish Flu, which modern understandings of infection and quarantine would help diminish significantly, but China lacks any of that, so welp. Anyways, half a Spanish flu is about 10% fatality from infection. Imagine 10% of the workforce up and dying. 10% of the scientists. 10% of the military. Some of those dead people will have been instrumental to their profession. The one guy in the power plant who knew how to fix that one issue. The researcher who was the driving force for their lab. Skills and knowledge will be irrevocably lost. Even if your linchpin people don't die, they can still be taken out of the picture; watching your kid barf out their lungs is a bit of a productivity-killer.

People tend to kind of handwave any disease that isn't Ebola when they see "only" single-digit fatalities from it. And yeah, fifty-fifty odds are way worse than one in ten, but one in ten is still an unmitigated disaster that means hundreds of millions dead. It's more than sufficient to ruin a country, and this particular country has had a policy of bullying all of their neighbors for years in pointless demonstrations of strength. What will they do if it all comes off the rails?

By the time the epidemic concluded several weeks later, more than 12,000 deaths had been recorded. At its height, 759 people died on a single day.

A pretty interesting look at what 'just the flu' can do.

edit because I hit 'post' by mistake.

Compare that to the USA. The American government has been moving heaven and earth to get its people out of the hot zones. Even organizing specialized air transport and sending CDC agents to Japan to tell them their quarantine was shit, and they were taking US citizens off a plague boat.

And that is the nightmare scenario. A highly infectious disease with a "decent" mortality rate. Don't worry, it only has a 10% mortality rate, takes on new meaning when we are talking about 10% of say, 500 million people.

Conveniently forgotten by those officials screeching we should celebrate Chinese New Year by going to to Chinatown and watching the parade.

Imagine 10% of the workforce up and dying. 10% of the scientists. 10% of the military.

No need to imagine.

During WW2 Soviet union lost 26 million people by the modest estimate. 40% of entire generation of 18 year old males were killed. A staggering numbers. Almost all infrastructure in populated european part of the country were turned into ruins. Not surprising it also inevitably led to rampant starvation and outbreak of diseases almost everywhere in the country, because every nurses and doctors were sent to frontlines.

Surely any normal country would collapse in this circumstances, but we must not forget that we discuss a totalitarian communistic country. I don't believe that China would collapse immediately. It could take years or even decades. But it will happen someday.

So China I mean WHO is trying to enforce China style censorship on the masses regarding the bat flu virus

If it's as bad as the conspiracy types are saying. I mean, R0 of 6.6, kills you fucking dead, makes you sterile, fucks your immune system, lasts for weeks on rough surfaces, can take weeks for symptoms to show, etc etc, then censorship on the rest of us makes absolute sense. The elites need time to get to their bunkers and secret locations, stockpile shit, etc. They also need us to keep shopping and going to work, especially in infected areas, so the economy doesn't collapse overnight. And if it was that bad, we'd probably insist they do something INSANE like close the borders, and NO COUNTRYS NO WALLS NO USA AT ALL that goes against the party's interests, comrades.

After the huge jump, case numbers are stabilizing. Up to 1873 dead. Is this the virus plateauing, or is this merely the calm before another major increase in cases, or worse, the beginning of Stage 2?
View attachment 1149888

Or the numbers are faked.

According to China's "official numbers", the fatality rate is 2.3%. Seasonal Flu, by Comparison is .1%

But I am going to go ahead and call bullshit. This thing is killing hospital workers in China, and the quarantine protocols they are instituting are draconian. Its fucking Chernobyl all over again. The commies can't stop lying. The numbers are way higher then what they are saying.

They won't even let a lot of people buy certain things anyway right? The people there are in a prison of a country! Also, is there some evidence that people who are from that part of the world have more ACE2 receptors than western people?

Has a white person died from it? I know there have been some Westerners infected, although it's not entirely clear what ethnicity they are, but I'm not sure I've heard of any Western deaths.

NO, as of my understanding glorious aryans, The master race still is defeating this puny virus easily.

There have been white people who recovered, but so far none dead and as far as I know none critical. That will probably change though.

I still think it's pretty weird that a virus that's so infectious hasn't caused a single wave of infections in any western country after all this time. Don't kid yourself that shutting down some flights effectively stopped it in it's tracks, either.
I dont think we are in the clear yet. People have been actively looking for cases and effectively breaking transmission chains in most other countries. In China it had a head start and has been helped along by stupid choices like shoving possibly infected people together at high density, but it only takes a few missed cases to entrench something.
Seasonal flu usually manages to hit the whole planet, we are incredibly interconnected and were even in 1918 with the flu then.
I still think the west should be testing sentinel samples, not just people with a connection to China. It would be mind blowing if this disease was running alongside the Usual seasonal illnesses and we just hadn’t noticed.
The thought of this being such a specific illness, with infectivity and severity being so much higher in a specific ethnic group ( if proven true) is sobering. You can bet your bottom dollar that research programs are being thought about, just in silico at first honest guv, to explore the potential of that.

It's not a matter of why hasn't this virus taken effect in western countries, but when. Just give it a month or so, it takes time for these things to become noticeable where the government is forced to make an official statement. The government knows its here already and wants to keep business moving so they have money to throw at the problem when it becomes something they can't ignore. Panic at this stage would just help transmission.

On a lighter note here is a leaked video of china creating propaganda of sorts, most likely showing how diligent and responsive the medical workers are being.
