This isn't specifically Vic related, but I saw something happen today that made me both sad and angry and is related in a larger context.

Hardware Unboxed is a tech enthusiast site that concentrates on PC parts. They're similar to Gamers Nexus, JayzTwoCents, and Linus Media Group. Anyway, they uncovered a negative facet about an MSI Ryzen motherboard (too-high VRM temps while using power-hungry processors) and - get this - the manufacturer agreed with their findings.

Tom's Hardware gets ahold of these results, runs their own highly flawed tests which only served to deflect the issue, and obviously comes up with different numbers which "exonerates" the motherboard in question. That in and of itself is disturbing, but they doubled-down at the same time and proceeded to call HU a bunch of liars and trolls. TH literally used those words. This response would've been considered weird and alien no less than a decade ago, but not anymore, apparently.

I just couldn't believe it, as TH used to be an EXTREMELY well-respected source for tech news and testing results. But there they were, going all tribal for no discernible reason and effectively slandering the name of a channel whose testing methodologies are transparent and relied-upon by the PC community.

Not only that, but apparently their forums are no better and have been sliding into skeevy behavior for awhile now by way of mods more interested in sucking-up to the very industry they're suppose to be monitoring and silencing valid observations that go against TH's slanted corporate mandate.

HU tried to contact the relevant people at TH to hash out the issue, but were rejected.

I just don't understand what's happening to this country. I mean, tribalism has its place, but certainly not in this context and not among people who are suppose to be intelligent, objective, and willing to share information and viewpoints for the greater public good. I can easily see this niche turning into yet another fat and juicy SJW target with all the inevitable subsequent drama and it's genuinely depressing.

Anyway, sorry for the windy post, but I wanted to get this off my chest. If a mod wants to delete this for going way off-topic, I'll understand.

Glad I don't waste time with PC gaming because of bullshit like that. It's not just the USA but the world my dude.

By coincidence I saw the video too, a lot of people will pretend to be smart and sensible but hold seriously petty and victitive side to them that undermines their very imagine, just like Monica is an envious snake, so did TH lash out at HU because he did good by helping out MSI with constructive criticism and FOR ONCE, did a company actually respond in a professional manner and it helped MSI save face form their mistake.

TH on the other hand just proved what man child he was by refusing, RE-FUCKING-FUSING to be an adult and patch things up and then call HU a lying troll. Way to ruin your internet career and reputation, TH.

I’m not sure where these yahoos got the idea that the LAYMAN is responsible for drafting the affidavit...
I’ll spell out exactly how the process went.

Ty contacted me. He said that after reviewing some messages it appeared as though I disputed some of the points in Faisal’s affidavit. He gave me a copy of the affidavit to read. He then asked me to go through the affidavit and correct all untrue parts.
After I did that he then asked if I would be willing to give my statement in the form of an affidavit. He said that he would use the responses I gave him to draft and affidavit for me.

He then provides me with a copy of the draft for my own affidavit and asked me to go through it carefully. I was to point out any statements in the draft that I felt were wrong or did not convey the meaning I intended. After I did this and approved of the affidavit we went over my options for getting it notarized.
It turned out to be a cluster fuck to get it notarized so we instead changed the affidavit to an unsworn declaration. He explained the difference between the two types of documents and what the penalties for perjury would be.
I agreed, signed the document, and returned it to him.

Monica can play the horse in one of those many films about a underdog jockey that's been told a million times, and as for Jamie? She's perfect for the role of a woke remake version of The Blob, in case it can't get people like Schumer, Dunham, or any other fatty boombalatty.

Considering the level of stupid across corporate culture today (since most 'management' got their diplomas based on PC rather than Econ 101/Business practices) I think there is a very good chance they will go to discovery because...sing it with me...SJWs always double down.

Most likely Sony will throw Funimation under the bus. Should the appeal succeed, Sony would probably get ahead of the suit and settle before anything is filed. Its clear they have their eye on this case and if it gets past appeals like hell do they want a repeat of the Sony hacks.

The basic premise is correct on this article imo. BUT. It falls down from the opening paragraphs because it never addresses a valid concern. #ISWV has had a bad problem of discounting testimony as evidence. Testimony is evidence and to say otherwise is foolish. It is the ADDITION of police reports, etc. that give the testimony more teeth and strengthens it's validity. But just to ignore testimony is foolish.

How to build a PC shenanigans from The Verge anyone?

I'm getting more and more convinced that that dreadful Verge PC build segment was a trap solely filmed to accuse any critic of harassment and other SJW talking points. And they further doubled-down by copystriking Bitwit's parody response video as if they had their hand hovering over the flagging button the whole damn time. It was very maddening to watch unfold, but I think The Verge came out the losers in the end, as Bitwit got them to remove the strike and received a bunch of new subs as a result.

I doubt The Verge will be showing anyone how to build a PC again for a long time to come.

It's hard to see who once used to be heroes in this space badly stumble like this. They also had that terrible "just buy it" take on RTX cards that, fortunately, Gamers Nexus rightly called them out on. And their forums are apparently saturated with "mod sharks" who'll devour your post if it doesn't square with the narrative of the day.

This uncomfortably reminds me of groups like PULL and GamerGhazi who primarily exist to spew baseless outrage and advance woke politics. If TH fully falls and goes the way of sites like Kotaku and Polygon...ugh, I just can't.
