I knew they were a special breed of crazy but I would've thought they would understand the gravity of the situation. Kiwis like you are a god send but I think regarding the test capacities, they definitely can test the 96 at a time, the wells just have to be fully loaded, in fact there are some thermocyclers that can run plates with 384 wells at a time which would shorten test times. The test normally takes about 1 hour and a half to run.

True, but this is kind of where you run into problems. If they're waiting for multiple samples, there could be contamination and improper storage. They might not have the luxury of filling that plate to the brim with samples and if they do, there's risk of cross contamination too. So they might NOT want to fill all those wells up. No idea what their protocols are on testing. At this point, its anybodies guess.

Case in Washington, teenager has had it since Monday and the school they went to during the week is to be shut down. Washington DoH currently doing a stream. I didn't watch much of the stream though 'cause I'm tired. There's a pretty sick old lady doing sign language though.

I am wondering if heat will change things. Right now California is slowly getting hotter and in the next few months is when the weather gets ridiculously hot. April is usually the start of the hot weather, and then it gets hotter. Recently there was a record breaking temperature in the mid 80's. Parts of Los Angeles gets overwhelmingly hot and humid. San Francisco I'm not sure about considering most of it is near the ocean.
It'll either change things, or maybe it won't. I guess time will tell.

The reason viruses don't spread much in summer is because people are cleaner in that season. Or rather, people are less likely to wash their hands in winter because it's cold. It's not much related to the weather.
