I've always been torn on this. There are different kinds of poor. I don't think being involuntarily poor should preclude you from things like companionship, basic necessities like a phone, etc. I empathize with the working poor, having been one of them at one point in my life. There are truly impoverished people who really don't have an escape, and I don't blame them for simple human comforts.
KM is not one of those people, though. She's a willing failure -- no ambition, no plan, and born and risen from ample enough resources to change her situation if she so desired. She didn't grow up rich, it seems, but certainly with enough of a social safety net to figure out her life, instead of running a colony of mentally ill minority troons online while turning on and off gas pumps.
KM is the worst kind of person: able bodied, educated enough to do something, with enough familial backing to take a chance, but she doesn't. She chooses to be a leech. She chooses to sit on government subsidies, happily collecting her alms off the backs of the taxpayer -- while simultaneously attacking that government, that system, and those workers online.
KM doesn't suffer from a poverty of ability or means that afflicts the least among us, but rather a poverty of ambition, a poverty of desire, and a poverty of accountability. They aren't the same thing. For all her pontificating about being a woke queen online -- she's a nothing of her own making. She's the kind of employee, as Ilmseil said -- to blame her failures on anyone but herself, when someone truly worthy of change and trying accepts responsibility for their own shortcomings and actively works on them. I'd pity her, if any part of me felt like she would spare pity for anyone else.
The best part is when his older brother rented a car to "rescue" him. Then he was totally oblivious to what his brother was really asking regarding his true motivations. The estranged brother definitely wanted to know if Mooch planned to sleep on his sofa forever ( yes), and why he would leech off his brother he never knew.
