Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Not that I like the panickers who are buying metric tons of fucking shit irrationally, but the so called "reasoners" are fucking worse. The only reason they try to pull that shit is to appear superior to others.

Oh, minor powerlevel, 1 friend of mine and his best mate has the virus, results just came in. This is Aboland, not China. I also do know people in China that got the virus and a couple that were cured of the virus. So yeah, fuck these pathetic "reasoners".
It's serious, and pay attention.

China isn't the only one.
It really depends on how "lie" is defined. Due to the nature of gathering such numbers, it's always going to be underestimated. I did get some insight into how the Chinese collected their numbers, deaths during quarantines etc all count as opposed to what I originally thought, nonetheless the numbers are an okay reference at best. At some point in exchange of statistics, stuff will be left out, local officials will lie about the stats and send in underestimated numbers to make it seem less severe, stuff will be negated...

China has confirmed at 90k, that's a batshit insane scary number already. I don't see why they would lie at this point, disregarding discrepancies in data collection. If it's 100k or 500k, it wouldn't matter. What does lying serve them at this point? Nothing. I asked a bunch of people in China about WHO, seems like no one is buying their shit. Also, most I've spoken to thinks the numbers cannot be trusted. If it's 500k, we'd think it's 1 million. I personally think it's at least 200k at this point, I could be wrong though.

According to this, South Korea is at 7513 while Japan is at 581: https://thewuhanvirus.com/
Baffling, S.Korea is smaller than Japan, and I'd assume has less people too.

My suggestion is to multiply whatever number by 2. China being a dictatorship makes gathering such numbers easy. It's going to be far worse when it comes to western countries I'm afraid, so perhaps 3 or even 5 is more sound.

Either way, none of these numbers are right. Don't trust any of them. I plan on making a list and doing some basic analysis after the virus clears up to see how all the numbers play out. By then, the liars will pop out.

Alright here's a fun little followup. I've finally been able to get access to the company's plan for WuFlu that was posted on my day off.

View attachment 1181600

A couple things I would like to note. First and foremost is how very basic this all is. They have had months to prepare and control a billion dollars in assets and this was what they came up with. The other thing I would like to point out is that this release was dated "Thursday, March 4, 2020"... that is not a date on the calendar this year. They couldn't even get the date right. And when I contacted my supervisor he found a way to start yelling at me.

Maybe I'll go with cremation...
Imagine getting caught by the oldest trick in the book.

A canary trap is a method for exposing an information leak by giving different versions of a sensitive document to each of several suspects and seeing which version gets leaked. It could be one false statement, to see if sensitive information gets out to other people as well. Special attention is paid to the quality of the prose of the unique language, in the hopes that the suspect will repeat it verbatim in the leak, thereby identifying the version of the document.

>implying I didn't consider that already

The National Guard has been deployed to New Rochelle where most of the coronavirus cases have been clustered around a Jewish community. The NG will be dispatched to "large gathering areas" (whatever that means) and will help with delivering food and cleaning public spaces. It will last for two weeks.

No surprise at all. In addition to the planning done at the national level, you can be sure a certain amount of planning has been done at the state/county/city/town levels. Obviously, the state's planning will be in greater depth and a wider scope than counties and cities. But everyone's talking to each other. Coordination at every level is most important.

Anyone has the video? I checked, it's deleted due to "violation of rules". Yes, I did remove the dots and underscores. The shortened link has the video but there's no real audio.
So this is one of the rescuers breaking down in tears after pulling out 2 corpses of children. Sister 4yo and brother 2yo, they were hugging tightly when found. Of course, both long dead.

This is from the hotel that collapsed in Xiamen, due to whatever stupid reasons the officials no doubt will conjure up.

40 rescuers worked from 3am, 10th of March, the corpses were discovered at about 6:20. It took 2+ hours to get both of them out, which were gone. The firefighter named Zhou Jianren broke out in tears, so did the others.

"We all have kids, they are young, seeing something like this, we can't hold back". Firefighters continually work, "we will not give up any chances, we are waiting for a miracle of life", one of them says.

In the clip, the firefighters were swearing, which was bleeped out. "Fuck, fuck this, motherfucker".

Also, apparently the building collapsed due to illegal expansion. The supporting pillars can't hold the weight anymore, as the hotel has been altered and expanded several times illegally. So it's not bat nest (obvious chinanet joke) or some pillar getting knocked over apparently. In China, it's illegal to severely alter one's "property" without permission, I think this is the same in most places. I can't cut down a tree in backyard or build an underground lab without the council saying yes. Either way, plenty in China still disregard such rules and expand their buildings, leading to disasters like this. I still remember a case I saw in the news where some balcony collapsed and killed a couple pedestrians.

Lots of these huge abandoned projects in China are either because it was illegal to begin with, to which the government steps in to stop it, or the businesses involved ran dry of their budget (corruption, money laundering).

What a fucking disaster. On top of the virus, there's soulless slants who only cares about money.
So the Chinese government has all this surveillance and all that authoritarianism, and they can't even stop flagrant building code violations?

You can read the chinese runes? Have you seen this github page (https://github.com/wuhan2020/wuhan2020), where Chinese are posting about Wuhan, sidestepping censors? They have some materials in English, but these do not contain anything of substance. There are also lot of interesting sounding slack channels listed.

Does any of you believe Iran's body count after seeing the Italy's numbers?

So Cuomo just sent the Army to surround and contain the largest community of Ultra Orthodox Hasidim in the nation. This has so much potential for shear unprecedented levels of lolcow'iness that we should keep an eye on it, it might be worth splitting off into it's own thread. For those not familiar with the Hasidim, be aware that they are an extra special group of Jews. Most Jewish Americans are just like everybody else. Good neighbors. Good friends. Perfectly normal people. Welcoming to all and treating all with the same degree of fairness we all treat each other. These are not those people. Think of every single horrible racist, nasty evil stereotype of Jews put forth by such idiots as Stormfront, and give them human form. Now cluster them all together in a tight cult like community. These are the Jewish equivalent to the WBC, if the WBC had a century or two to fully inbreed. In terms of public Sociopathy the Mainland Chinese are rank amateurs compared to these guys. Keep an eye on this one. It has the potential to go all Ruby Ridge... but with Jews, and Plague, and Militant Lawyers.

Wait, I don't remember calling you.

Cpaps do a great job of amplifying your roommates farts, he has my pity

Thankfully the newer CPAP machines solve the fart problem and do not inflate the users digestive tract like a balloon.

I love the way the article talks about 'facing a lockdown in 14 days'.

Yeah, in two weeks maybe the democratic government of the UK will get round to realizing things are so bad it has to implement a lockdown long after it should have been done for maximum effectiveness.

Yeah! Let's totally lock down a country of 66 million people when our rate of infection and daily infection rate is far fucking lower than everyone else in Europe with a half decent sized outbreak! For 60 people in a city of 14 million, and an average of 30 across each major english region and six in a whole Home Nation!

Yeah, let's just stop the nation for a fucking month when the majority won't even see a fucking coronavirus patient even in its absolute worse case scenario!

'cause that won't panic the shit out of everyone at all. Nope! No siree!

Does your brain engage at all before you start hitting the keyboard or is it like a room filled with monkeys and typewriters hoping to make Shakespeare kind of deal?

EVERYONE is lying about the number of infected.
Numbers of actual infected are actually not known. For anyone. Do some under-report them? - possibly.
However, what we can say with almost full confidence is that Iran is definitely hiding deaths - I refuse to believe, that their health care system is better than Italy's. Iran likely has 2000+ deaths at this point in time.
Same applies to China - their real kung flu death toll is at minimum 10x of the currently reported numbers.

Oh, it's not the CPAP causing the farting. It's the chili.

Colorado up to 15 cases now. Fag Gov Polis has declared a state of emergency.

DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado Gov. Jared Polis declared a state of emergency in Colorado amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Polis also announced the three new “presumptive positive” cases of the coronavirus. One new case is in Arapahoe County, one is in Gunnison County and one is in Eagle County.

The three new coronavirus cases bring the total to 15 total cases in the state.

“Presumptive positive” cases tested positive at the state level and are awaiting official confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Polis says he has directed the state to pursue financial measures to make it easier for health, food, nursing home and state employees to stay home if they get sick, rather than expose others to the virus because they’re worried about losing their jobs.

Polis says he is seeking more testing capacity. And he says the diagnostics firm LabCorp is performing coronavirus tests, complementing state and federal testing.

Of the state’s 15 cases, four were reported Monday. Three cases were reported on Tuesday.

27 people died drinking industrial alcohol to protect them themselves from the Coronavirus in Iran.

ABC News said:
At least 27 people have died from alcohol poisoning in the Khuzestan and Alborz provinces of Iran trying to prevent infection of the coronavirus, Iranian news agencies reported on Monday.

“Some of the citizens of Ahwaz had heard that drinking alcohol could help them fight the coronavirus, so they used it as a preventive measure,” said Ali Ehsanpour, spokesman of Ahwaz University of Medical Sciences, according to the Mehr News Agency.

With the outbreak of Covid-19 in Iran, rumors and unscientific treatments on how to fight the virus have spread on social media. Among them was drinking alcohol.

However, with the ban on alcohol in Iran, some have been poisoned by drinking industrial alcohol sold in the market for sanitizing purposes.

While the official number of confirmed coronavirus infections in the province of Khuzestan was 73, at least 218 Iranians were hospitalized from alcohol poisoning in the medical centers affiliated with Ahwaz University of Medical Sciences.

“One of the victims got blind and some others are in critical condition,” Ehsanpour added.

Moreover, in the northern province of Alborz, seven people were killed because of alcohol poisoning, Mohammad Aghayari, deputy prosecutor of the city of Karaj, told Iranian Students' News Agency.

Iran has been hit hardest in the Middle East by Covid-19. The official number of infected patients until Monday was 7,161 -- 237 have died and 2,394 have recovered, a health ministry spokesman said according to the Fars News Agency.

Iran faces severe problems controlling the spread of virus including the shortage of sanitizers and preventive gear especially for the medical staff across the country. Both domestic mismanagement and international sanctions have paralyzed the health system during the current coronavirus crisis.

What, where, why, how? And... WHAAAT.
rep Rosa DeLauro (D-CT 3rd District), chair of the labor, health and human services, education, and related agencies, was a press conference. politicians need to "do something" so they're grilling CDC over being behind on testing/underfunded, and the CDC director explains it's more complicated than that, but very politely so as to not bite the hand that feeds. lady's hair was only interesting part.

Travis AFB update

Hospital staff are now being given direct orders that they're not allowed to wear masks unless directly interacting with patients for the sole purpose of image. FML. They're ignoring the asymptomatic spread and crazy incubation period as well as the fact that obviously staff are capable of being carriers. Let's not forget the 1,000 infected and contaminate Grand Disease cruise ship passengers dumped on base. I have permanently damaged lungs and I'm pretty much fucked at this point due to rapid community spread and having family as hospital staff.

EDIT: The David Grant base hospital is currently hosting 12 confirmed coronavirus patients.
EDIT2: The irony of all of this is that I ended up at this base because I have such shit health and they wanted my family stationed where the "best" base hospital is.

Damn. Sometimes I hate thinking ahead:
The roommate and I were speculating on additional ER pressure stemming from stupid decisions made by undereducated and desperate people.

Americans ain't gonna be much smarter, I'm afraid. Hold my beer.

262 confirmed cases in Denmark now, up from 90 yesterday. This doesn't indicate a different infectivity than expected but rather a lack of previous testing that has made it seem much less severe than it is. They are finally testing people who show symptoms and not just people who came from Italy and other infection hotspots. Looks like we're going to be keeping businesses afloat by pushing back some tax payments and offering the ability to seek compensation for lost business to event hosts if they're cancelled because of the virus.

Multiple infected people have also been at universities, high schools, etc. Presumably these will be temporarily shut down soon, but I'm not expecting much.
