Since some asshole is playing politics with names I wouldnt put it past him to jimmy the damn numbers he doesnt like also.

The spice must flow. Everyone has an incentive to see the wheels of commerce keep turning. There is no grand conspiracy behind government officials presenting the stuff upper lip publicly. The alternative is far worse. So this particular thread of autism needs to stop. For once they are right in encouraging people to keep working and keep spending as usual despite the danger. My only gripe is that I wish they would trust people to realize why they need to shoulder the risk and carry on.

Further. Europe's got a bank. It's supposed to aid in relief efforts. Like by giving money to ensure proper functioningnof the economy and incentivizing of small businesses to fix the gap in case of a collapse. You know where that money's going? Merkel's pockets.

that happens after the fact. what would you incentivize now? "we gonna allocate X amounts of dosh for Y" is mostly for show, even a broke country can simply accrue more debt and have it sorted out later, there's always a way to cook the books if you're a government.
and the money aside, what would you do with it? it won't make more nurses or doctors appear or create more beds, the only thing you could really spend it on would be equipment and medicine, and a lot of those don't get produced in the EU, good luck trying to get another order in right now together with the rest of the world, when the producing countries stopped all exports and are imploding - and even if not, it would still need time to be produced and shipped. which is also the reason you won't get legions of doctors etc send over because countries need them themselves. and I highly doubt anyone wants the german army off all people to help with quarantine efforts.

This is very true, but doesn't cover the Germans, who also don't do the kissy bullshit the dagos and wops do to the south. Which only leaves money as a factor.

not really, the were 2 "big" spreads in germany. remember way back the car supplier in bavaria that was infected by a chinese exec in a meeting? that was contained pretty easily since it was before the big wave - which brings something else to mind, maybe another krautkiwi wants to look into it because it was 3-4 weeks ago with different age groups infected, which could provide some idea how things will turn out. I didn't really follow it, but none of them has died (or they never announced it or credited it to something else, but I doubt that).
the second outbreak they're dealing with now showed up after italy and spread from there like you'd expect. coming back from vacation, just having the sniffles or no symptoms at all and go about their daily lives, which then infects someone else that travels somewhere else asf. the cases they can't trace back are probably from people they came in contact with that never had any severe issues and only now got tested or most likely recovered since.

while money sounds like a vector, I haven't heard of any studies that made a big deal about it (else they would bring it up constantly trying to get everyone adopt digital currency). there are probably tests how viable bills are for holding a virus, but then you'd still need to study how money gets treated and spreads. most of it will be used locally and majority of people just carries it around in their wallet, so washing your hands afterwards already reduces it's effectiveness (which is something you should do anyway).

Unfortunately you are 100% wrong with your assessment. King of Prussia Mall is in the echelon of shopping centers that are known as "destinations"; that is to say people come to the country specifically to shop there.

wait, what? people still got to shpping malls (even before corona)?

My only gripe is that I wish they would trust people to realize why they need to shoulder the risk and carry on.

like I said before people are dumb. and I mean people in general, before someone gets triggered again. you have DOCTORS going out and possibly infecting others, anyone saying "well, if trump would've been honest no one would have died!!!11" is beyond stupid at this point.

it means fuck for all the poor mistreated sheeple if they want to keep the wheels going for shekels or because they fucking have to keep the flow of supplies going and public order somewhat intact.

that people still haven't figured out those simple facts says more than enough why government and politicians behave like they do.

Yeah, from my experience if Walmart is willing to loosen up it's draconian attendance policy to allow their slaves some time off when they're almost dead, I'd be inclined to think that this shit is starting to get serious.
I worked there in my younger years and they didn't give a fuck if you had a broken bone, were in traction or near dying from pneumonia, if you have a pulse, be there or be fucking square.

PR and getting ahead of it is probably also a huge part, before the media or even the government tears them a new one. nothing beats outrage clickbait, and walmart forcing people to get sick basically writes itself. not to mention possibly getting sued over it.

I dunno why people are claiming quarantines won't work. First of all they will never shut down the entire country. Just the major cities. Second off all Tyrone and his Gangsta Crip Disciples might try chimping out at your run of the mill cop trying to enforce the quarantine, but when the tanks start rolling into town only the dumbest of the dumb would try to fuck with military hardware. What is with the pessimism on this point? I'm sure at least half a dozen different alphabet soup agencies have been modeling lockdowns and quarantines for fucking decades now. IF there is one thing the federal government can do is oppress a large number of people. And it's not like our military is underfunded. This will be a great pretense to start rolling out and normalizing the coming police state. ♫ Deus Ex theme begins swelling in volume in the background.♫

Speaking of police states; I wonder if we can use all that fancy NSA spy tech for contact tracing....IIRC the Chinese did just that.

not gonna happen, not in the us. wasn't that the main reason the second amendment was put into place?
tanks also can't kick down doors and patrol street corners, and as big as the us military is, they can't do it in several cities at once.
it's also not very effective. what's gonna happen when shit hits the fan is they'll block off an area at strategic points (think manhattan and all bridges) and wait it out. tough luck when you're the one stuck inside.

not to mention, soldiers can get sick too. and there isn't enough protective gear for each one. and that's before they say "fuck it" and go awol.

Resident Indian here. We have had 11 more cases since the last time I wrote on this thread. What makes these 11 cases special is the fact they occurred in Bangalore. For those who don't know, Bangalore is the Silicon Valley of India(this is also the place the bangalore torpedo was developed btw). Lot of tech companies: microsoft, google, wipro, infosys, oracle, TCS, etc are here. Power leveling here but I live in Bangalore. Its like Toyko/NYC in that people rely on public transportation like metro, buses and ubers since traffic is atrocious. Also Bangalore gets flights daily from London, Milan, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Dubai, Moscow and Africa. I expect cases to flare up in 7 to 10 days give or take. Personally if the number of cases rise to 150, I'll take extended leave and move to the countryside. Godspeed Italian kiwis and Godspeed Europe.

Further Reading:

One of paypals largest data/call centers is there. Paypal was able to handle its Shanghai center going down. Bangalore is 4 to 6 times the size and they wont be able to handle that.

Target sent me a similar email about disinfecting the store, stocking things (they're limiting things now, well it's too late) which was nice as I usually order from them but there's no bleach, gloves or masks so I went elsewhere. Hope this makes them rethink that Chinese supply line.

King of Prussia? That's no bueno. I've been waiting for the names "Mall of America", King of Prussia", and "American Dream" to appear in this thread. And not with any anticipation, mind you.

The King of Prussia Mall is the second largest shopping venue in the United States. Buckle the fuck up...

I do not feel good at all. My chest burns and I keep coughing and getting short of breath. Hope it's nothing major. But I have had pneumonia multiple times in the past. If it doesn't stop in a couple of days I'll go to a doctor. Or the ER might be better.

alright you autistic screechers listen
the real threat here isn't people dying in the streets, it's the health system being more overloaded than it already is and the long-term economic impacts of supply chain breakdown, coupled with an already artificially-propped up economic system.
look at italy right now:

complete standstill with overloaded hospitals. this illness hits the elderly and those with respiratory issues the hardest so these will be the ones actually filling the hospital beds (even in italy presumably, which would also explain the higher fatality rate). problem is that the US healthcare system is absolute fucking shit if you're not on a decent insurance policy. combine that with economic tough times and now you've got a serious long-term problem that will take awhile to recover from, societally speaking.
americans are generally mentally ill (stupid, fat, etc) and/or can't afford healthcare so there will be people refusing to go to the doctor and either staying at home or infecting others despite "knowing better" (they don't actually know better).
on top of that, closing down various sectors of society (schools/public events/work) will cause again economic slowdown requiring a stimulus immediately. who the fuck knows how this will actually go in congress and who will get this round of stimulus. next week, imagine bernanke's helicopter again but this time it's mnuchin, and the helicopter is on fire as it lands at the white house.
so the troubles here will be general unrest (both economic and perhaps a little bit social as well) and heartbreak as opposed to autistic coof zombie apocalypse.
however if somehow trump manages to catch the virus, then yeah probably panic because the market will abso-fucking-lutely tank.

LA County again ... Husband came home telling me that his company is considering sending everybody home, to work from home. Not going to go into details, but it is a US -based international corporation that does "white collar" stuff. So this will be every branch, across the USA not just the LA office.

I was like "Thank God," but then, you know, I got to thinking "how is it realistic, to shut down the entire economy?"

People with Pre-X know they are diabetic, or have cancer or are TB survivors or whatever. Why not push the responsibility on them, to self-quarantine? I mean I think that we have established that this is not the bubonic plague ... it DOES discriminate.

Plus not everybody can quarantine, to save their sick relatives. But sick relatives can quarantine themselves. Right?

If it doesn't stop in a couple of days I'll go to a doctor. Or the ER might be better.
Don't just go to the doc/ER. CALL before going and tell them your symptoms. If you do have it and just go then your going to just infect other people. Your city may have a dedicated location for suspected carona cases to go to rather then the ER anyways .

I have a question for you, tovarishch Stalin. It is related to your earlier post about how the governments knew about this pandemic well in advance and already have plans in place.

I guess that big part of plan is how to stem the panic and how to divulge the news to the public . I guess the strategy was to downplay it severely at first, and to test very small group. And to dispatch people to media with the refrain: "it's just a flu bro" until it will become clear to everyone it's not really a flu. Amrite?

I only spoke for the US Government, since that's where I have experience. And I do believe they picked up on what was happening and had made certain preparations.

Believe it's important to keep the public informed without causing a panic. And I can see it being downplayed at first.

Far as the WuFlu being "just a flu", presently it is nowhere near as deadly as the present strains of flu active.

Check this out. Latest I could find.

The map shows regional or widespread influenza activity throughout the entire country, Numbers of hospitalized and dead from the "regular" flu dwarf those from the WuFlu. Says here death rate from pneumonia and influenza is 6.9%, just below the epidemic threshold of 7.3%. Plenty more info here.

Yet people aren't going apeshit about the "regular" flu as they seem to be about the WuFlu. The "regular" flu can hit and kill anyone. The WuFlu strain here seems to primarily target the elderly with health issues and those with immune system problems. Far as can be told babies and children not affected.

No reason to panic about the WuFlu, but as always, it never hurts to be prudent.

Not sure if I answered your question, but panicking people is counterproductive.

Burning in your chest?
Crap. I wouldn't mess with that, if you are in a hot zone ...
Only you know who and what you might have been exposed to, when and how.

Another plan you could consider, if you have a 24 hr. nurses line, on your insurance card. Call them and see what they advise.

Also, it is possible to have developed walking pneumonia or any other lung condition, that requires urgent attention, and test negative for the wu-flu.

You should go now. If you have had pneumonia multiple times you fall into the high risk category. These sorts of things dont get better with time.

Though I fully agree with you the main FUCKING PROBLEM is the REEEETARDS who do not look at this site are circle jerking themselves to death.

The governments and media are not telling the truth and are making things far worse to the mass sheeple out there. Those people who do not think. I watch today my local news caster stated the Virus spreading is SLOWING down... WTF man the sheeple will look at that and go back to their usual stupid routine and then of course get infected.

These sheeple are the ones buying up the TP or the wipes because the assholes on the media circuit wants the viewing/ click ratings.

I can go right now to my local walley world and buy the right disinfectant for this problem for $1.67 and there are 2 pallets full of this stuff. AND yet there are no wipes because again some asshole on twitter is reporting pseudo news.

What people on Kiwifarm should do is to point NORMAL people to this site so they can get what is really going on so they can see and take action on how to deal with this virus. In this way our helpful information can spread more to the masses.

So that more people can avoid of being a statistic. Spread the word about our logical think tank so that more people can not only learn what is going on but give us their input on what is going on with them.

This is how we can win and be safe against any virus/illness/disaster/situation.

By working together.

Absolutely! Have pointed people to this site if they want timely, good info from a variety of sources. Guess Null would know if traffic to KF has increased.

Indeed, hope everyone refers friends here. Information prevents hysteria.

But, hey, who says we aren't normal? 🙂

i'm actually flabbergasted that india hasn't exploded in cases yet considering population density. i guess we'll see if the "heat kills the virus" statement carries water here.

I still maintain that anything and anyone raised in close proximity to the Ganges probably has an immune system far beyond that of normal men. What can a puny virus do that the local environment and drinking water hasn't already infliced on them in spades?
