A few days. Sore throat, slight cough, lethargy and mild fever. It's really nothing, which is both great and not great. I got someone I can call if it goes to shit. I got tested as one of the last people before they just gave up testing.
There's mild PL and then there's hi, here's my resume:
I live in a major European city, and I'm pretty sure I know exactly where I got it - I'm one of the first cases of untraceable internal contagion in my country, which is why I even got tested. Tl;Dr friend was infected by rando on public transport, she infected me on Monday. Symptoms started Wednesday morning. I'm doing ok, friend isn't feeling too hot. More worried about her tbh.
I've been working remotely since last week, so I haven't infected anyone but spouse, probably.
I went to PAX East Two Weeks ago. Woke up today with my chest feeling tingly and congested. I don't feel bad, beyond that. No coughing or fever. It is allergy season so I'm trying not to get ahead of myself but I am self quarantining just in case. What sucks is my state won't test me yet because I'm not above 60 or have a chronic health condition so I have no way of knowing.
Mild powerlevel but oh well, I picked up the Wu Flu and am now quarantined. So is my wife because she's probably infected. Luckily we're both not feeling too bad.
I'm not a fan of Trump but the actual last thing we need right now is for him and/or Pence to drop dead of Corona. His apparent refusal to get tested is worrying, because he's not in a low risk group. Take care of yourself you old fat moron, the rest of us need you not to fucking die for at least a couple of months.
Dense communities are always more at risk for any pathogen. Homosexuals tend to come in close contact with other homosexuals with little buffer from less affected outgroups between them and carriers. In particular homosexual males, who, due to all being male, are pretty promiscuous.
If the activities you have planned are going to require you to be in close quarters with other people, I probably would cancel. Or if it may require you to take a bus, train or god forbid a plane.
Other than that, though, if you're driving your own car to go camping or hiking, that might be a good thing. Get a break from the media shitstorm and you'll be away from people and probably isolated from the chaos that may ensue when the smooth-brains start to catch on that this shit isn't going to just fade away overnight.
As long as you're going alone or with a very small group of known non-infected, then an outdoorsy trip may be the safest way to spend that time. Depends on the social situation in your city though, maybe you won't want to leave your house unattended for a week.
Yeah so when Trump gonna make them cough up the hand sanitizer? If you want us to get back to normal we need masks (to avoid infection/infecting others) and hand sanitizer. Issue everyone a fucking monthly ration coupon for things like that and bleach, alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. Jail any hoarders/scalpers.
Of course it comes from Communist China so we need to get some factories going for domestic production of these things and MEDICINE. Whoever allowed a bunch of mentally re.tarded sub IQ mongoloid Commie Chinks take over our supply of medicine should hang as traitors. Yeah, looking at you Obama and Hillary. Fuck you both, I hope Corona-chan rapes you both with a splintered log and no lube for 24 hours..
No, that was true. The official in question wasn't Bolsonaro. That's why Bolsonaro was tested too, and media was claiming he tested positive earlier today, but apparently that wasn't true,
Candians just won't stand for that kind of shit any more.
I gave up on trying to get TP from a supermarket. One was just completely wiped out (ho ho ho) and the other was just selling super-expensive 4-packs. Already got some. Not too bothered about it. You can wipe your nether regions and clean them in other ways. Having no food in the larder, however...
And what is it with tinned veg? It's nutritionally poorer (on the whole) compared to frozen veg. I guess some people just like mushy peas in a can. But ever tasted tinned carrots? Potatoes?
And lol at the fucking flour running out. I wonder how many of the people hoarding that even know how to bake a loaf of bread. They can't all be old granny types from back in the day. But it makes sense. In a prolonged quarantine bread is one of the first things to run out of. I've stocked up a bit on it but I've resigned myself to the fact it will be a no-bread diet after the first week or two. No biggie. I eat that shit soft white bread anyway coz I like it. I ate brown/seeded bread for decades, but just went off it recently for some reason. It's all shit anyway. Unless you're starving. In which case there are other ways to keep alive.
Just got my south britbong shop delivered today by Asda. What a joke. I mentioned before in my last post to try and get a shop delivered by a couple of supermarkets. Do you know what those britbong walllyworld bastards did? They stripped a third of my fucking shopping right out of the equation. Let's see.
No rice. No vegetable oil. No eggs. No porridge oats. No sardines. And no fucking paracetamol (acetaminophen).
Plus a few other missing things.
I had to wait nearly a week for this delivery and they said they had all those things. I can understand them goofing off on the eggs because if supply is low it's better to give them to someone else so they don't go off. Limited shelf-life. But big bags of rice and porridge? If I order them and you say you have them you should put them aside to deliver to me even if it is days later. How hard can it be? They've got a fuck you attitude. They obviously just take your order and if it sells out in the week it takes to get to you well tough titty we'll sell it to some other mug punter.
Moral of this story: don't trust the fuckers. Do two shops with two different suppliers. Better to be over-stocked than under stocked. You can't get sardines anywhere now. Even in my new shop with Tescos they were rationing them to 2 tins per person! Coz they are cheap (40p), and non-perishable. So canny preppers are snapping them up. Shame they didn't ration the big bags of rice and whatnot. They don't care.
So, what was missing from that order, I added on to my order with tescos. Who seem to have most the stuff if not a little more expensive, but who's counting at this stage of the game.
But really, running out of paracetamol? A big shop like wallyworld owned asda with that big supply chain and you can't get a few packs of painkillers. They are supposed to be rationed as well so how did they run out? This doesn't bode well for the future. So much panic buying but so much ineptitude on the part of the supermarket chains.
And I couldn't even get eggs at tescos. Ok some expensive multi-size packs of 10. I bought two. I mean eggs don't last much longer than a few weeks either. I guess people just bought as many as they could off the shelf, hoping they would last. I only buy free range anyway so maybe that don't help but still. Don't forget to hard boil them and store them properly to get a few more days shelf-life out of them (look it up on the net). Yolks freeze a whole lot better than whites.
But apart from that I got my new bags of rice and oats. Still out of peanut butter though. I bought as many tins of fish as I was allowed in my ration. Pilchards are a good bet, they are actually sardines. And that semi-horrible tomato sauce them drown them in is an acquired taste. Except if you are hungry. And a massive tin of them only costs a little over a quid. Mix that in with some rice and frozen veg and tin of beans and some spices. Freeze what you have left over.
The trick is not to eat the same thing every day. So even if it's a little unpalatable you can squirrel it away for later. You might be glad of it. Buy fresh veg now and cook it in to food portions you can save for later in your freezer. That and the frozen veg should keep you going. It's a lot more than people had half a century ago on rations in WWII (then again some of them grew their own veg, so...).
I'm hoping that my new delivery tomorrow has most the stuff and if it does I might be a little over-stocked, but it won't go to waste. I have a shed load of beans. I like to make chilli. Most people don't realise that baked beans are just in fact harricot beans. They go for 50p a pop, so instead of bugging out because you can't get a six-pack of heinz beans for 3 quid (duh!), just buy six fucking tins of harricot beans instead. And they taste even better.
Buy every bean you can. There's hardly a bad bean out there. Long life, nutritionally dense protein bombs. All a chilli is, is a couple of tins of tomatoes with some onions chopped in and some tins of beans and rice thrown on top. Great if you have some peppers and peas and sweetcorn to add as well.
I can cook a half-decent chilli in my slow cooker in a few hours and get 5/6/7 servings depending on recipe. What I don't eat that night and keep for the next day goes in the freezer. Very simple and quick. Cheap, tasty and nutritious. I cook my Risotto in there too.
Talking of Risotto I got a few packs of decent proper rice for it (more expensive than normal rice) and I even bought some extra basmati and jasmine rice (not as expensive as Risotto rice but more expensive than easy cook rice) on top. So thanks and fuck you asda. Tesco does seem a lot more together with their shit.
So now I have easy cook rice, brown rice, risotto rice, basmati rice, jasmine rice and normal long grain rice. And I got more coming tomorrow as well. Or maybe not. I might have gone a bit over the top but the whole moral of this story once again is this: you can't trust the fuckers to deliver the stuff to you after a week waiting. I might end up with too much. Or I might end up with just enough of stuff that is still available in a month's time but has gone seriously up in price in the meantime.
The wait for tesco's was even longer. It's not even that long at xmas. A whole week nearly.
The delivery driver was looking at me very strange. The cogs were really turning over in his head. What is going on here - this is the 3rd or 4th nutter today that has nearly put my back out. Oh, I bought a load of water as well. That has been selling out fast. I made a mistake on my order and went back and hours later all the big cheap water had gone. I don't expect to need it but water is one thing you don't want to run out of. It's not unheard of for them to close the taps here to fix pipes as well, so, it was a few quid well spent. If I still have it summertime I'll give it to my plants.
I also bought some very cheap Spirit vinegar for cleaning and some Distilled vinegar for cooking (40p/Liter). It's basically the same stuff but Spirit vinegar is a slightly higher concentration and slightly better for cleaning where as Distilled vinegar is slightly weaker and slightly better for cooking/pickling/medicinal use. For 40p a Litre (iirc - might have been half liter) it's throwaway stuff and a no-brainer. I'd rather splash that all over my worktops and be chopping veg 30 seconds later once it's dried than fussing with hydrogen peroxide or dettol or wtf.
There are about 20 different types of vinegars but these are the more common and cheaper and utilitarian ones. Consider them if you can't get hold of disinfectant at the last minute. You can even use it for burns and all kinds of things. Some people just put it on their chips, which is prolly just what I'm gonna do.
Finally, I found a source for some vitamin C powder and also NAC.
Both are great for fighting viral shit and in fact have been used in China to treat patients with the WuFlu.
N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is the supplement form of the amino acid cysteine, which plays several important roles in human health. Here are the top 9 health benefits of NAC.
www.healthline.com
NAC especially aids lung stuff. And vitamin C is a low cost and proven aid in fighting all this stuff. And it does little harm even if it doesn't work (might give you the runs). I take these to help with my auto immune stuff. They do help a bit. I'm taking 12000 Grams of Vitamin C a day at the moment. I buy kilos of the stuff.
I've not bothered with masks as I don't plan on going out of the house much and even if I did I wouldn't be wearing goggles so what's the point?
There are so many bits and pieces I've missed out on but I've got the basics. I'm used to being shut in.
But you can still catch the flu even if you don't leave the house. I had one at the end of last year that was a nasty little cold for 3 days. And I had not left my house for 3 weeks. I could only have caught it off a delivery driver. No other explanation. Bad luck I guess.
I'm goint to do a shop with Sainsbury's in the next day or two and see how the wind is blowing there and what the delivery times are like and what they have in stock. I envision in a few more days that rationing will be much more widespread. But it should calm down in a bit, I mean, there's only so much space in our little britbong houses to hoard 45 fucking rolls of god damn bog roll.
Anyway, be gentle with me, I'm still learning the (new) rules here (even though I've lurked for a long time). If I get something wrong I'm sure you'll let me know. I'll figure it out.
I think these are the 'interesting times' the Chinese of old used to curse their enemies with.
Well guess what motherfuckers, we're all in interesting times now.
The thing is with all of this, is that we are all still in very early days with it all, both in what we know and also what nobody knows. Too many variables to calculate on the fly from an incomplete and ever-moving data set. Add in public ignorance and greed. Add in political grandstanding and opportunism.
The coming days, weeks, months, probably years, we are going to see the very best of people and the very worst of them as well, all coming to light and out of the darkness eventually.
I think everyone knows by this point though, it's going to be a bit of a wild ride.
Please relocate your autistic shower thoughts to reddit, we are trying to keep up with the news and no one cares about why you like to eat shitty white bread you autist.
Mild powerlevel but oh well, I picked up the Wu Flu and am now quarantined. So is my wife because she's probably infected. Luckily we're both not feeling too bad.

What these two guys are experiencing, if that. Many of us will be infected and never even know it.
Problem is it's now established that even when (sometimes indefinitely) asymptomatic, people can spread it to vulnerable people. The current policies are to slow that as much as possible so everyone can get the care that is required to pull through in cases of pneumonia or other complications.
I'll probably do that. TBH, I'm not worried about me. I know if I do catch this, I'll most likely be ok. I'm worried if I spread this to my family, especially my grandparents who are kicking and fine but in their 90s/80s. So right now I'm just self isolating, drinking a fuckton of water and rewatching the Venture Bros and gauging how I feel.
TBH if you don't live with someone older, chronic health condition or have one yourself, getting the virus at the onset may be a little better. Gives your body a chance to build up anti-bodies. While cases of reinfection are reported, that's more dependent on the person rather the virus itself. This may help you if there is a second, deadiler wave like what happened with the Spanish Flu. People who got sick in the first wave where generally ok during the much worse second wave.
Went to our local chain (HEB) and home depot early this morning. Home Depot was a busier than I expected for 6:30 but I got what I needed (handsoap and Odaban) without any fuss.
HEB was a different story. I was waiting in line for about an hour to check out but they did have the large refill tubs of handsoap, TP, and the usual shit people were freaking out over. The only things that they were out of was hand sanitizer and vitamin C. Most people were pretty cool excluding a bunch of old mexican grandmas.
Girlfriend had me go to Bath & Body Works for overpriced hand sanitizer but fuck does it smell good.
Is there yet any reason to believe cases of re-infection aren't extremely rare flukes? If enough people get infected, every once in awhile that's going to happen. Doesn't make it a standard feature to expect from the thing.
I have a relative that's an ICU nurse, and she gets a lot of info from the "front lines" in New York. Here's what she's said:
- New York/Brooklyn situation is disintegrating rapidly. Hospitals begging people from around the country to take up shifts.
- Hospital shifts are lengthy, stretching thin
- People in their 20's and 30's in the ICU for Coronavirus
- "We have eight young patients dying"
- People attempting to/successfully stealing wall units of hand sanitizer
- N95 masks under lock and key
- National Guard being sent to areas around the country
- "Family visitors in hospitals are being hysterical. Entering COVID rooms without PPE, stealing supplies, getting into physical fights with staff"
- California readying hotels for emergency COVID hospitals
Can't 100% confirm, but these are from trusted sources, according to the relative.

It mostly likely flukes. The LA Times did post a good article on this. Chances are it was people who where not fully recovered or who had damaged immune systems in the first place.
Can you get the coronavirus twice? Scientists say it's highly unlikely, but China is tightening hospital discharge standards as "recovered" patients in multiple provinces appear to get sick again.
Well, just tried to do a little grocery shopping. Normally, the middle of the day isn't busy. Today, everyone is out panic buying food now instead of just toilet paper.
Tried normal location, King Soopers.
No potatoes:
No meat ground beef and no chicken:
Then I went to Walmart and saw much the same thing.
Meat area:
I stocked some food, but not a lot. We have some frozen ground beef and canned food (corn, and chili), and plenty of rice.
Also at Walmart, they appeared to be keeping the toilet paper in the back, just inside the big entrance to the back and were handing it out to people one at a time. King Soopers had a sign outside about limiting water to one gallon I think, but inside I saw some spics loading up a cart with water. Pretty sure they didn't make it outside.
IT'S NOT IN THE WATER SUPPLY, STOP BUYING WATER YOU FUCKING MORONS. Guess what? It's also not in the meat supply so stop buying all the fucking meat.
