Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

5) Finally, Kylo Ren interrogates Chewie and taunts him, goading him to try and kill him. Chewie obviously doesn't do it, but Kylo mocks him and tells him that Chewie feels the Dark Side. Chewie can feel the Force now, apparently.
I mean in the book Catalyst Lyra erso could feel the force, but wasn't force sensitive.
One last thing is, this book is really short! It's only 247 pages, I had read it was supposed to be 350 pages. It did get pushed back 2 weeks so I guess they cut a load of shit out. Remember: this is supposed to be the super fancy director's cut, imagine what was in those 100 pages. Welp, I'll keep reading and hopefully I'll be done tomorrow.
At least you have 100 pages less to read, I wonder if the upcoming Clone Wars anthology book will be longer.

I don't think we're doomed to have stupid people as the only writers media companies will use forever. The problem is right now you need to either have or being willing to bow to SJW beliefs to get the jobs. That doesn't attract smart people. It attracts people who are either dumb enough to buy into the group think or just clever enough to know pretending to buy into it can get them promotions they can't earn with their talent.

It's perfectly possible to make a movie that promotes positive values that doesn't come off as propaganda, but the SJW movement demands direct rather than symbolic messages. It demands a lack of nuance in the enemy. It demands a perfect protagonist. It demands things that make it very difficult for a any writer, skilled or a hack, to finally get down to the business of telling a good story because so many other priorities are placed before that goal. I think if you get rid of the need for the post-modern crap it immediately makes it a lot easier for the writers to do their jobs.

oh, I never thought it will be the status quo from here on out, for the simple fact it's just not sustainable. at a certain point there aren't any more franchises to rape and companies to drive into the ground, so if they (or someone else) wants to make money they have to come up with new and actually good stuff. but boy till then it's gonna suck.

as for the movies, even without the obvious pandering they are simply shit on a basic level like pacing etc., stuff most SJWs don't care about or wouldn't even notice. you could cut 1/3 of TROS, it's not like zorii bliss is a feminist icon that has to be in the movie. the problem isn't people in charge having an agenda, the problem is they outright suck at their job. it's kinda fascinating that it seems almost always mutually exclusive.

Tho this isnt a ME thread so...

not much happening with star wars right now (and hopefully for a while), and it's still somewhat relevant comparing formerly beloved multi-billion dollar franchises that crashed and burned. after me3 lot of people were probably already desensitized when star wars crashed into a brick wall, might as well talk about it for reference while some are still in the 5 stages...

I don't wanna jump the gun just yet, but if Disney's stock fall will continue, they maybe soon up for grabs.

apple has been rumored for a while, but recently tencent got mentioned too. it would be karma on an epic scale that disney's pandering to china (and falling for communist subversion tactics if you wanna go that route) led to them being digested into china's forefront political media company. while I'd say most of those fucks deserve it they'll most likely jump ship like plague-rats anyway.

China's economy is fucked too for the time being, so horrifyingly funny as it would be, does Tencent really have the money to buy Disney?

Ya know, if they eventually go full dune-sequels and have Chewie become the Duncan Idaho "the TRUE chosen one who will destroy the TRUE sith" figure of the franchise then that would be so fucking stupid and schlocky I might actually love it

Plus the Star Wars: Galactic Starcrusier is responsible for spreading COVID-19 to Coruscant. That's gonna be a whole other mess.

Are they seriously still building that piece of shit? They couldn't fill the rooms in that overpriced Riviera thing and Galaxy's Edge never even approached the popularity it was expected to have. There's simply NO market for that hotel - they're better off just knocking holes in the walls for windows and calling them high-end VIP suites with a generic theme.

I hope the coronavirus gets this guy.

I don't know what mental gymnastics you have to pull to hate the prequels yet gush over the Disney Trilogy.
It's one thing to like Force Awakens over them, since while a memberberry filled reboot of A New Hope, there was something your brain thought was there due to JarJar being a lazy asshole who likes you to do the thinking for him. It was familiar and was designed to guide you into a ride.

It's a whole new ballgame to think Last Jedi is better than any of them, and laughable as hell for Plan IX to be deemed better than any of them save MAYBE Attack of the Clones.

They're as bad in many ways, and far worse in others.

To think that episode IX is even remotely a satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga in spite of all the ways it shits on the original 6 movies as well as the two previous Disney films is a mystery of the ages.

Which begs the question, why call it the Skywalker Saga when 7-9 are about Palpatine's granddaughter.
