Wuhan Coronavirus: Lockdowns, Quarantines, Cancellations

No need to panic until Amazon stops delivering. If they started to care about their employees, you'd know shit was getting real.
I hate to break it to you...

They're not flat out ending delivery, but they say "essential supplies" only

edit: ^^ not accurate

As of today the hair store was still open. A lot of places were open that shouldn't have been. I didn't realise that the only liquor stores they closed were state stores. The other ones are still open. And some of them are hangouts for bums and other trash who stand there all day long.

Exactly what counts as non life-sustaining? Liquor stores, hair stores, clothing stores, Are they just going to keep the food stores and pharmacies open?

The liquor stores would probably remain open with limited hours just to keep people from going insane and to get some form of tax revenue open. The rest will be closed until further notice so if you want clothes better go to Target or Wal-Mart.

So, we have to shut down the country all because of because of some boomers? The generation before them sacrificed a ton for them and they expect the generations after them to sacrifice even more for them.
Yeah. This is literally why. On the upshot, unless you get regular influenza or a myocardial infarction as a result of wuflu, you're not dead. If you have O type blood you have better chances. A form of quinine seems to be helping. My dad has O blood and he has to undergo malaria treatments every few years, so he's not gonna die anytime soon.

That being said, Detroit News is reporting that the Detroit Police department is even more fucked than usual

Three Detroit police officers have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, while 80 members of the department are out of commission in quarantine, according to two police sources.

Unlike CNN or MSNBC, when local newspapers have "unnamed sources" in regards local news it's generally not false.

I posted this in the quarrantine thread instead of the general because this literally has to do with quarrantines.

March 19.
US Gov't announced promising results with a quinine derivative today. The drug showing promise is hydroxychloroquine.
This time-tested anti-malarial will be made available (by prescription for now) to the affected residents of NY.
Victims show complete remission in 6 days or less.
Good News. This news also points researchers towards additional treatments/cures.

This is only for sellers sending inventory to the warehouses. And it's only until April 5th at the latest. People can still buy anything and Amazon has TONS of stock of non essentials they're still shipping, they just need a window of time to prioritize getting more essentials into their warehouses to sell.
Amazon isn't going anywhere, quite the contrary.

Oh man, those fuckers all loved me being on vacation so much that they decided to join me. Its truly HAPPENING now.

Also, good on Wolf. This is a ballsy decision and people will hate him for it, for about a month. Then they'll realize its the best thing a PA governor has done in 40 some years.

Everyone in the world's going to realize how incredibly fucking retarded and destructive this whole thing was by the end of the decade. Probably less time than that, but going on the safe side because of how shitty my prescient skills have been.

I looked over at Free Republic, just for my own amusement, they're already planning on stocking up on ammo, and claiming it's the end times. 🙄

(And the liquor stores closed just a few days ago. 😢 Hmmm...maybe the Freepers are right.)
Oddly enough, they are listed as essential in the chart I've seen. Sheetz sells beer and wine now anyways so you can just get it there.

How sudden have the statewide complete business shutdowns been? Were they incrementally tightened to that point, or was it a very sudden 0 to 100 kind of deal?

Guess what isn't closing, apparently? Gamestop!

While GameStop is best known as a provider of gaming and home entertainment systems, we also offer a wide array of products and devices that are important to facilitate remote work, distance learning, and virtual connectivity. As millions of Americans face unprecedented challenges adapting to virtual learning, working and interaction, there is significant need for technology solutions and we are one of many providers of these products that are remaining open at this time. Schools, businesses and families are now suddenly dependent on being able to connect through technology. While there are many businesses and organizations far more critical than ours, we believe we can have a positive impact during this very challenging time. The health and safety of our employees and customers is of utmost importance and we have and will continue to take extensive precautions consistent with CDC guidelines. We are complying with all state, county, city and local ordinances and we will continue to adjust to any future developments.

PA is the only one and it was pretty drop of a hat. Nobody had any notion that this would happen yesterday. We did have a shutdown on restaurants ordered on Monday.

Unfortunately for GS the PA government has an actual list of what industries are and are not required to shut down and there is no such thing as "essential retail" there's simly types of retail that are allowed to remain open (grocery stores, gas stations, etc.) and those that are not (gaming isn't big enough so it goes under "other" and is to be shut down.) They say comply with all state regulations at the end of that memo, AKA they will be shutting down in PA.

I live near a big park in a certain plagued Washington city and the parking lot is completely full with cars circling the block trying to find spots. Place is packed. We’re sure to get our parks closed if this autism keeps up. *sigh*
(Edit -typo)
Might also be a high-end Pokemon Go hotspot. I'm seeing other strange driving habits intensify revolving around the game ramping up in popularity in these hard times. It's both become easier/more active, and people are fucking bored indoors and want to play an outdoor game on their phones, so the activity has gone up.

I personally do just fine all alone. I cant imagine needing social interaction outside of work this badly.
To be fair, you have pretty regular activity on this forum. You need social interaction too, but the way you satisfy it is less annoying than a boomer woman phoning folks that she would otherwise not talk to.
