I just sent this to a buddy.

30 seconds later I get two texts. "Fake news." "All actors."

:stress:

Canuckistan will get hit just as badly as Italy.

Canada has 40 Million People living on a landmass 9.985 million km²

Italy has 61 Million Living on a landmass 301,338 km²

Canada has closed the border to all non-essential travel. Flights internationally are grounded barring bringing stranded Canadians home and even those are getting leaner. Inter-province travel is becoming more and more difficult. Newfoundland just announced it's 4th case and then made it clear you have to quarantine for travel from anywhere- including other provinces. This will likely be mimicked by other provinces in the coming days. Several provinces have declared not just public health emergencies but states of emergency. Stores are closing, many before it's been ordered. Those who remain open have hours cut and just aren't seeing people anyway. A lot of people are stocked up and making the choice to hibernate. Canada is locking down more and more with every passing day.

Parts of Canada will be hit hard because people are idiots but on the whole we've got better chances here. A lot of the video in Italy show people living in apartments, close quarters, which makes it even easier to spread. Cities here will get hit hard in the most populated provinces; Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, BC but there are some areas that will probably be fairly unscathed by virtue of fear already being in them and so rural that there's nobody around anyway.

So from reading this we should just blow the bridges and tunnels and turn NYC into a Leper Colony? It's probably for the best.
What an era to be genre-savvy.

Illinois will be the second state to issue a shelter-in-place order, starting Saturday.
Also note:
Though the governor activated the Illinois National Guard earlier this week to help combat the virus, the service members will have no role in enforcing any potential order. Instead, 60 service members will be deployed to establish drive-up testing sites, help with food delivery to disadvantaged families impacted by school closures and possibly prepare closed hospitals to reopen.
Presumably the quarantine will be enforced by local police, like in California.

Took a walk along a different route today. Every eating place I saw was either closed or had signs saying take-out or delivery only.

Walked by urgent care clinic. They were having patients wait in their cars until called. Anyone suspected of having ChiCom Flu was to go home, call clinic for telehealth consultation.

Went to a local (very expensive) supermarket. No paper products. Had some milk, meat. No fresh donuts. Went to the large chain drugstore next door. Again, no paper products. Place nearly deserted. Walked by donut shop. Tables/chairs removed, take-out only. Some businesses closed.

Looked in at a hardware store. They had a few cases of bottled water, one per customer. They were putting out a couple of small cases of toilet paper.

Went to the auto repair/tire shop we use. Still open. "We have to stay open." Told the proprietor I'd have at least one car soon for oil change.

Heading back, walked through discount grocery store. They had milk. Watched them remove the item limit sign.

Wonder how long it will be after normal supplies are resumed before everyone starts taking a normal supply for granted again. For too many people, not long. For others, a while, and they'll maintain reserves of certain items. Personally have never taken anything for granted.

Orange County (Florida) has put in a 11p-5a curfew, apparently "essential personnel" excluded but not sure who that specifically means.

Does anyone have that source from China a month or two ago about what they were spraying? The source that said it was like fermented kitchen waste?

Apparently, with the two strains of corona-chan, if you get the S strain and you get over it, the antibodies will work on the L strain. To remind, the S strain is the more virulent but less deadly version that aerosolized and the L strain is the deadly version that spreads through fecal matter but not droplets. Could it be, that the CCP were spraying their people with S strain to rush-innoculate their people?

Uh steep thesis, but the source for that kitchen waste spray stuff is here

I just had another thought. With a majority of hospitals staffed, what about the pregnant women? Someone posted a few pages back that a mother died after birth, Corona-chan finishing her off. And even with hospitals staffed, what are mothers-to-be are going to do anyway? Home birth is already dangerous, increased by a lot with Corona-chan looming about.

Update on the kids playing basketball in my neighborhood:

I posted on the neighborhood community website last night, complaining like an old person. lol. I explained my concern upon seeing that many people in a single spot. My post was met with overwhelming agreement-- to the point where multiple posts started to show up complaining about the same thing.

Welp. Today, the neighborhood had the basketball court entrance boarded up, and nobody has been there today. Hope the Zoomers don't find out it was me ...

I guess the lesson is this: If you see people being stupid and careless and you can actually do something productive about it, then don't be afraid to speak up.

Wow. I was just checking on Madagascar this morning.

Greenland also got cases a little while ago and that's a tricky one in Plague, Inc. I'm starting to think the flaw with those games is that the diseases spread too slowly.

The asshole playing probably has the "Corruption & Cover-Ups" and "People are Idiots" DLC installed.

Why couldn't they just have President Madagascar be a lifetime leader?

He would've at least shut down everything.

No one, absolutely no one, and nothing stops a baby when it's ready. The risks of giving birth are already high, this situation just makes them higher. In Canada we've stopped all medical except what has to be one of those things being childbirthing. So I imagine the last people they'll be pulling into standard Corona-care will be labor and delivery.
