Wuhan Coronavirus: Lockdowns, Quarantines, Cancellations

California is on lockdown. The entire goddamn state. No idea if that order is enforceable or just a strong suggestion. Los Angeles specifically WILL enforce their lockdown order with fines and jailtime.

Essential businesses are staying open (which includes my job thankfully) and LA's website gives you mayor approved activities.

See you all in Comrade Newsom's gulag.

I know I am really late with a response but 'respiratory virus', what the fuck is the coronavirus?

That's what they said at the ER. I didn't have a fever so they didn't swab me. But I still feel bad. Who knows really. But I don't feel like I'm dying. At least there's that. I am not coughing as long as I don't walk around a lot.

I would not be surprised if people who had indeterminate symptoms were just told to go home and rest. At least they aren't forcing quarantine in some facility like in the movies.

I wish the testing situation was better.

Pennsylvanian here, boss just called me this morning and said we're on the list as non essential. Still have jobs but who knows how long we'll be shut down now.

I can only hope at least to the end of the initial 14 days. If not a week after. I REALLY don't want the government bux with how strained shit already feels like.

Happy birthday to me I guess. (:_(

My aunt works at a recreational facility and they are closed until April 20th. They are having the employees file for unemployment. Initially they were supposed to be closed until the 31st of March. I don't know if this is being handed down from the city or Governor Wolf or if it's the decision of the owners. But the place had been dead for days amidst the initial panic anyway. People were cancelling parties.

I am surprised the beer distributors are allowed to be open considering around here many of them are hangouts. There is one near me that has been busted multiple times for gang and drug activity. Hopefully the people hanging there will have the sense not to congregate right now. I guess beer is considered essential during the wupocalypse.

The parks in Philly are closed. But that's not going to stop Ny'Quil and his friends from jumping the fence at night. I have heard a lot more sirens lately than usual. Hope that doesn't get any worse. The high today is 78. If it gets that high dumb people are going to start hanging out like it's summer.

Down goes Orlando... https://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs...nces-coronavirus-curfew-starting-friday-night (archive -- it's #3,100 in the queue, so it'll be awhile before that shows up).

That was inevitable. I was actually in Orlando last Thursday to perform. I got there 10am. The promoters ended up cancelling the show because of everything and put me on a 6am Friday morning flight back home. But since I was now off Thursday night I walked to an ihop by my hotel and it was half full with college kids. I asked the waitress what was up and she was like, "Oh, spring break starts tomorrow!". Fucking nuts.

I ordered pancakes and halfway through eating there was a table diagonal from me on the other side of the place with 5 college girls. One kept coughing and not even bothering to cover her mouth. I was halfway through my pancakes by the time the bitch coughed her 6th time. I just got up and threw a $20 on the table and walked out. I didn't even want my change or anything - fuck that. I went right back to the hotel. One of my buddies was like, "She's a college girl. She probably vapes" but whatever - I didn't want to be around that shit. I was happy to be on a 6am flight outta there the next morning before Spring Break really hit. But man, that's a disaster waiting to happen.

There were like 11 people on my whole flight back as well...damn, it was a 737 (3 seats on each side) and it was just empty. Anyway, all my shows for the next few weeks are cancelled anyway so I literally haven't left my house since I got back last Friday morning.

It's kind of surreal. All of the gyms, bars, and dine-in restaurants have closed in Texas...but military bases don't have to give a fuck about state orders, so we've got pretty much everything that was shut down still running.

Movie theaters, bars, gyms, restaurants...nothing is closed. Mind you, there's no way in hell I'm going to them at this time, but the options are there.

Aww gee, you made the mistake of having a good job instead of a bullshit one like mine. Considered essential, of course.

That's Michigan; They'll be fine. You want to see sperging? Wait until they pull that in L.A. Postponing anal bleaching in L.A. might be the spark that ignites the boogaloo...

Changed my mind, I've been out for a week but apparently the company president has gone from bullshit about how eternal our industry is to talking pay cuts and layoffs over the course of ten days. Wheeeee, can't wait to get back.

Guess what isn't closing, apparently? Gamestop!

While GameStop is best known as a provider of gaming and home entertainment systems, we also offer a wide array of products and devices that are important to facilitate remote work, distance learning, and virtual connectivity. As millions of Americans face unprecedented challenges adapting to virtual learning, working and interaction, there is significant need for technology solutions and we are one of many providers of these products that are remaining open at this time. Schools, businesses and families are now suddenly dependent on being able to connect through technology. While there are many businesses and organizations far more critical than ours, we believe we can have a positive impact during this very challenging time. The health and safety of our employees and customers is of utmost importance and we have and will continue to take extensive precautions consistent with CDC guidelines. We are complying with all state, county, city and local ordinances and we will continue to adjust to any future developments.

Rumors are starting to circulate that Pennsylvania retaliated by revoking Gamestop's business license. I can't find anything other than one printout allegedly stuck on a Gamestop's door though, so it might just be a load of shit.
