They're derailing it by saying it's not enough? Fuck yeah they're right. 1,200 a month for people that can't even look for work, on top of losing their healthcare, is practically peanuts. It's practically a consolation prize for not dying from this yet.
I mean shit dude, this would help YOU out. Didn't you just lose your job?
The damage to the economy could very well be permanent. This will change the U.S. forever. The welfare program could be modified easily.Yep. I got savings and can probably go 2 months without much stress but it's going to nuke my cushion. Even one check for 1200 bucks should get me through till July. Especially since I can defer my car payment this month.
As for a massive expansion of unemployment insurance instead....that's a big if. To even qualify for it you need to accept the very first job offer you get. Which could be a total dumpster fire. I also question how we can even afford the TrumpBucks peanuts, let alone what Pelosi seems to want which would be massive and be a permanent expansion.
It's shit like this that gives me a real real big. These are not the responses of a bad chest cold. These are the responses of something that is "oh fuck, hope you were in your bunker already" levels of bad.
Remember during the speech when Trump mentioned AIDS and everyone on stage looked super uncomfortable?
... Does this thing fuck with your immune system? I heard mention of it earlier but passed that off as crankery.
Out of darkness, into light?
In all seriousness, I don't have an issue with being tested or vaccinated for anything.
My real beef is with the lack of testing for asymptomatic people, such as women in advanced pregnancy, who can bring the virus in to L&D like a Trojan Horse. Basically the OB-Gyn, all the nurses on the floor, the perinatologist and their team, Post Partum and the NICU staff can be exposed to a lot of virus, and pass it on to their patients and newborns. I would feel safer for everybody, if they tested women a month, two weeks, and a week before their due-date, for the safety of the staff and the newborn.
I know that kids (even newborns) are not particularly likely to succumb. But the fact that there is an absence of information on the risks, should not imply that they aren't lurking in the shadows.
Like if a newborn dies of coronavirus, is that the primary cause of death, or is the cause of death neonatal sepsis, complicated by Corona? How is this reported?
Sorry, just concerned.
we are not testing the dead. I will repeat that.If only we had that much testing available.
As far as reporting goes, it's up to whoever pronounces it. Or the medical examiner. There isn't any testing protocol for neonates as far as I'm aware, so...it's doubtful that it would be chalked up to vertical transmission of SARS-CoV-2.

As for where it comes from? We don't need to be spends nearly a trillion on the military yearly. Start there maybe?
I agree and they're gonna have to pull a rabbit out of their ass to make this work. The only problem is that it's either the E. Coli rabbit or a depression.I also question how we can even afford the TrumpBucks peanuts, let alone what Pelosi seems to want which would be massive and be a permanent expansion.
My shit idea was to at least transfer that spending to the army corp of engineers and let them have more leeway in their contractors. Revive the Civilian Conservation Corps and use them to work on infrastructure, beautification, etc. A lot of shit in this country needs fixing or straight up tearing down. One could argue that this is our chance to really move into the 21st century. As for where it comes from? We don't need to be spends nearly a trillion on the military yearly. Start there maybe?
$1200 wouldn't even cover a mortgage in most areas. Its ridiculous. They're derailing it by saying it's not enough? Also, they're pointing out the objective bullshit amount the trumpbux bill is going to give people:
"I couldn't believe that they were talking about lowest income people getting $600 and somebody making $75,000 getting twice as much as that, $1,200," she said. "Those numbers don't make any sense.
The crisis could last for years regardless. You once said in a thread the US navy had a department to handle outbreaks in coastal cities, and that by the logic there is precedent for governmental assistance in healthcare. The damage to the economy will be permanent for sure if we transition the workforce over to government programs. Cutting everyone a one or two time check isnt a panacea, but it will be helpful at getting people through the immediate crisis. The major systemic danger to the economy is people defaulting on all their loans, rents and so on. Getting through the next two months without that happening is more important then expanding the beaurocracry.

We need a solution that doesn't end with half the population dying in the streets.
I agree as well. The next few years are going to require some hard decisions, with plenty of them being what nobody wants. The problem is that our current leadership doesn't understand that yet. That as much I agree with. There is honestly no easy fix here. We also cant forget we will need to dump huge amounts of cash to fight the virus itself.

Coronavirus Stimulus: That $1,200 Check And Two Other Numbers That Will Affect Your Wallet
All eyes are on Trump’s economic stimulus plan.www.forbes.com
The most interesting thing I noticed: PT will be at squad level. I can hear officer's brains exploding at the idea of not being able to strut around and yell at grown men to do more pushups while balancing a tray of Hohos on their guts.
Unfortunately the whole blackout babies phenomenon has proven to be wishful thinking. With all the boomer hate, I saw someone joke that this is only giving rise to the next batch of boomers, given that lots of couples are forced now to stay at home with nothing else to do.![]()
think more like... mumps. I can't get more detailed, we don't have the data yet.
it's a really nasty death, if you die. it leaves permanent effects if you don't. enough said
personally I'm reporting every single death with firm lungs after a respiratory course of illness as covid. fuck em. they can't fire me.
depends on funds. bleach mixture, disinfectant, Lysol, or plain soapy water.
we are not testing the dead. I will repeat that.
the dead aren't getting tested. only the living. if you didn't get a test before you died, it's up to us to call it without a test available. in the US at least, there are not enough tests available to spare a single one on this.
to call it a covid-related death we look at the course of disease (known symptoms) length of that course, and physical signs on autopsy:
firm, sticky, filled lungs
lack of oxygen evident in organs and extremities
enlarged spleen
intestinal lining disturbances
lack of oxygenation to reproductive parts
if it hits a few of those marks we can add it to the count and right now, here, we are. other places are likely not going to do so, many are invested in keeping these numbers down as far as possible.
