Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Sorry if someone already mentionned it, but a Wuhan writer takes on the CCP and become a online star. https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-wuha...achine-and-becomes-an-online-star-11585733403

How long before she dies due to "Corona-chan" or by "accident"?

If she gets enough people angry, she'll just vanish, all records about her even existing will vanish and she'll be in a better place.
Several better places, to be precise: Cut up and slaughtered for organ donation and her kidneys, liver, lungs, heart and some other choice parts will be given to the filthy rich upper class assholes of Beijing and Shanghai.

Since we need some humor in this trying time...

Hahah, this is amazing. Bolsonaro is continuing to behave like the puppet of the banksters that he is. He's continuing to just a flu post, with Facebook removing several of his posts for attempting to mislead the Brazilian people.

Bolsonaro has defined a wide range of services as essential, including call centers involved in telemarketing, and has suspended the rights of workers in these nonessential essentials to strike.

EDIT: Some food for thought

Didn't he defined churches as an essential service as well? [Edit: He did. Here's the archive.] I remember watching some bit of international news that seemed to imply that.

Aren't the majority of churchgoers in Brazil over sixty years old?

Is this some sort of 4d chess to get rid of the large number of pensioners in the country and cut government's expenses with social security? 🤔

My relative who most likely had wuflu but never got officially tested has finally recovered. Relative has some minor coughs but is otherwise feeling well and so is relative's family.

I'm relieved :-)

WattsUpWithThat actually had an article on the Xiao Botao paper

Archive

It includes an archive of the deleted Xiao Botao paper that got memory-holed with this abstract

https://web.archive.org/web/2020021...The_possible_origins_of_2019-nCoV_coronavirus

The 2019-nCoV has caused an epidemic of 28,060 laboratory-confirmed infections in human including 564 deaths in China by February 6, 2020. Two descriptions of the virus published on Nature this week indicated that the genome sequences from patients were almost identical to the Bat CoV ZC45 coronavirus. It was critical to study where the pathogen came from and how it passed onto human. An article published on The Lancet reported that 27 of 41 infected patients were found to have contact with the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan. We noted two laboratories conducting research on bat coronavirus in Wuhan, one of which was only 280 meters from the seafood market. We briefly examined the histories of the laboratories and proposed that the coronavirus probably originated from a laboratory. Our proposal provided an alternative origin of the coronavirus in addition to natural recombination and intermediate host.

Even from the abstract, you can see the paper is pointing at Wuhan Institute of Virology as a possible source because that is 280m from the seafood market.

No kidding. Can you imagine the press refusing to broadcast a message from the President during WW2? I think this is opening a lot of people's eyes to the agenda of some press outfits.

Didn't FDR do his fireside chats as a way to bypass a media that was skeptical of his New Deal policies?

Of course, when FDR bypassed the old media with his fireside chats it was a sign that he was a brilliant politician. When Trump bypasses the media via Twitter it's a sign he's vulgar and an orange poopy head.

Absolutely horrifying. Not only are Chinamen being insulted over the supposed origin of the coronavirus, but people are questioning the group behavior of Trump's Chosen People.

One man angry at the behaviour of the Lakewood, NJ colony of Yehudis in America has been arrested over joking threats to go there to enforce social distancing rules with a baseball bat, and has been charged with terroristic threats.

Another man, a public safety worker who similarly condemned the refusal of the colony to comply with public health measures is likely going to be fired and may face prosecution under New York's anti-free speech laws.
Is Allah still killing large groups of Iranians?

Ireland- 212 new cases and 14 new deaths announced, making 3,447 total cases and 85 dead. They said they'd start updating the number of recovered people again this week but haven't yet. The median age of death is 82. 126 have been admitted to ICU in total, the current number hasn't been reported but they have said the majority are still in there. That's the most worrying number, before this started the country's ICU capacity was only about 250. They have increased that by about 80% by approving more beds and nationalising the private hospitals, but it still shows how fucked we are. Healthcare workers make up about a quarter of all confirmed cases, but the majority of those transmission can't be definitively linked to their work.

Testing capacity was supposed to be up to 5k per day during this week but it's down to 1500 due to a shortage of the reagent. They still seem to be taking samples but can't test them all. Some of these tests may never get processed, anecdotally there are still people who have been waiting more than two weeks for results. Do any medkiwis know if samples would become non-viable if they were left sitting around too long?

Hospitals are starting to sign patients up for clinical trials of hydroxychloroquine.

New laws are expected to come into force in the next couple of days allowing police to arrest people who refuse to quarantine themselves, and to stop people from making unnecessary journeys.

The chief medical officer wasn't at the briefing today because he's in hospital for reasons unrelated to the virus. Speculation is that he had a heart attack, which wouldn't be surprising given the amount of stress he must be under.

Looks like Dems are concerned about this taking a bite out of their voter base

If Liz were actually Native American, she'd understand why a lot of us would be very opposed to that.

Michigan, USA

I think he's likely right about patient zero. That does seem suspicious that all of her info has been deleted, and no one knows where she is.
The possibility was raised early in the thread and that paper is archived here somewhere too.
The media is doubling down on pooh-poohing any suggestion that this was ‘ a bio weapon’ or ‘made in a lab’ but I think that just ignores or misrepresents what may have have happened. My own thoughts, from the start were that this is not ‘constructed.’ Nobody has sat down and designed this and built it. BUT... it’s very possibly a virus that has been collected in the wild and studied in the lab, and somebody has fucked up. That has happened in western labs (second recent foot and mouth outbreak was an escape from Pirbright labs.) SARS has escaped a lab environment a few times in China as well.
There was an assertion a while back that one of the Wuhan labs was using wild caught bats as a lab model which is horrifying.

Thoughts on bats: You don’t need to eat bat to get a bat bourne virus. The most usual route is the bat is the host / main vector and unaffected by the virus. Bats crap on a food source of a second animal, which then becomes infected and often is sick, then infects the human. This is how Hendra virus for example spreads in Australia (bat to horse to human.)
the fact that bat soup isn’t a local delicacy is not a gotcha. If bats are in the area then bat shit is too.
The fact that this outbreak and the previous SARS outbreak started in November is interesting as well. I know nothing about the local ecology but if I was a virus hunter I would be looking at what events happen just before that - rains? Harvests? Rodent population increase? fruiting of a certain plant that attracts bats feeding? Are the bats feeding and ranging more widely before hibernation?
It may well be that the animals in the wet market had little to do with it, and the market was just the area of infection.
Maybe: A worker at the lab was infected, and went to the market. She infected one person, maybe The shrimp seller lady. The market is an enclosed area where the same people will be in contact daily, that one person infected everyone around them, and their customers. That’s all it takes.

Think like a Chinese person.
Do you buy test animals from a professional medical supply company, or walk 300 meters to the wet market, buy a few cages full and then pocket the extra cash?

No, your masters are still doing their best to kill large groups of Iranians.
girls, girls
we don't need to bicker, what if Allah and YHWH are working together to wipe out Iran!

also for those Floridians who get too much of their news from the Farms, just to clarify that order takes effect on Midnight Thursday night going into Friday morning, not tonight

CORONAVIRUS IS THE NO. 3 CAUSE OF DEATH IN THE U.S., AFTER HEART DISEASE AND CANCER

COVID-19 has moved past accidents, chronic lung disease, strokes, Alzheimer's, diabetes, flu and pneumonia, and kidney disease as the third most likely cause of death in the U.S.

Honestly, given the stunts Chinese scientists have done in the past like with that recent "HIV resistant twins", I'm willing to put money down on them fucking around with a virus to understand it better and opened the can of worms in the process. As far as I know they don't really have an ethos on par with the rest of the developed world in which we take a lot of that shit seriously. Unless of course you're making cars or managing vast amounts of information, then you can fuck around. Still, I don't think this is a bioweapon or anything of the sort, at least not intentionally... but I do think it's in the realm of possibility that China was messing with shit they shouldn't have been like they often do.

Would that be a fair assumption?
