Oldboy is a piece of huge fucking shit. It's funny, others on the board are starting to smell him out and as the hopeless loser asshole he is. It is sad in a way, despite his utter horrid tone and messages, you know in real life he is a lost lonely shell of a person.

Anyways, maybe the mistake here is trying to single out the likes of fschimidt and oldboy as typical...maybe i'm just a big old pollyanna optimist, but i believe most people on the board just want to get better and don't know how....even though i wish more would follow my advice.

You know, I can honestly see how a person with a utilitarian mindset who doesn't get out much could end up being pulled into this stuff, even if they're otherwise level-headed.

Like, looking at @MarineTrainedTard 's innernet duhtektivizing on Happier Abroad, that guy teaching in China seems almost kinda cool. He is actively trying to learn a new language in order to forge connections with others, approaching people in a friendly way, extending and accepting invitations to social activities - anyone who wants to expand their social circle and meet potential partners would do well to emulate this behavior. But then again, he's posting on Happier Abroad.

Larding it up with hostility toward "Western" or "Westernized" women seems like a way to make generic good advice seem exclusive and appealing to people who are otherwise so defeatist that they believe ordinary self-improvement strategies will not work for them. I feel like bad advice can still be useful, if it gets one out of a rut and one is able to discard it when it ceases to serve one well. But if one starts buying into it and approaching "western women" with an ever-growing chip on one's shoulder, it's going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy that makes the world smaller rather than larger, in the long run.

my mother is more-or-less the root cause of my pain. Up until the age of 18 she fervently did her best to isolate me away from any female interaction; and she basically succeeded. Until the age of 18 I was absolutely isolated away from the female sex. It is no wonder why I was a social freak when I went to college.

When I was 24 I brought home the most beautiful girl I probably have ever dated. My mother's reaction: burst into my room and start screaming at the girl. The girl dumped me obviously very quickly after this incident.

There are other stories. Suffice to say that she destroyed my life.
But saying all this however, I do not hate her, at least not nearly as much as I used to. She is my mother, and according to the Bible I must respect her for this. In her warped mind I guess maybe she was doing what she thought was OK.

You can hate the world with Eminem as much as something like Slipknot or any other metal band that taps into that emotion. Hell you can even get your martial arts on with Wu Tang just like you would with the Ash song "Jackie Chan."
