That LBP autism tutorial started pretty decently (by cwc standards) and then just went deep down with his rants on dating, trolls and his hate of asperger.

Bob was tired. He had every right to be tired. He raised Chris mostly on his own for over a decade, after already raising two kids and being a successful engineer, surviving two heart attacks and cancer, and a tour in South Korea. He died at a good age for someone who went through all that shit. Were some of his opinions and outlooks antiquated? Yes. But he was also more tolerant than most of the people from his generation. Yeah he might have said “Negro” or cursed the gays, but he overall really did enjoy learning and sharing what he knew with anyone who would talk to him.
Barb? Total bitch. Literally burned every bridge she ever established and held things over people’s heads to get her way every time she could. I wouldn’t be surprised if she even let Chris did the Tomgirl stuff as a way to manipulate Chris into other stuff. At the end of the day, she didn’t give a fuck about Chris or Bob and certainly didn’t care about Cole. She might have cared about her sisters and that’s all but even then tried to fuck ones husband if our narrator is reliable.
I don’t understand a lot of the hate Bob gets. The speculation is funny, but that’s it. He was mostly just old and tired and didn’t understand Chris’ condition at all. He never tried to actively manipulate Chris beyond “Just get on the tugboat and help out with the bills.” Which wasn’t good but wasn’t actively malicious either. Barb was malicious.
Also I started drinking at like 2 PM today and helped a buddy with an essay so long winded rants are just in my head. Sorry.

Bob is like a bud light. Easy going, mellow and mostly tolerable.
Barb on the other hand is like more like bootlegged prison hooch. Unpredictable, unstable and was never even worth the effort in the first place.

Honestly I feel that without Barb’s influence, Bob would’ve opted to actually get Chris the help he needed. Bob was too smart and inquisitive of a person to not realize the help the State would offer Chris didn’t consist of a strict diet of pudding. Even if he may have been in denial about Chris’ condition at first, he eventually realized Chris would never make any real friends on his own and thus began paying galpals. Barb on the other hand strikes me as the kind of person not to accept help for Chris, mainly because of her pride and the fact it would involve both money and effort on her part. She probably came up with the idea that Chris would get sent to the looney bin to deter him from wanting the help himself. Bob was too old to fight Barb on this and just went along with it just like her hoarding.

This episode was a bit of a slog. I find the Little Big Planet bullshit incredibly boring, but I guess Chris is incredibly boring 90% of the time so you can’t avoid it if you are going to paint an accurate portrait of his life.

Thats essentially the Chris-chan mentality without the tism. I personally don't like bob because he's an example of what happens when men do nothing. he never put his foot down at any point in his life with barb which resulted in his fucked up son, a lot of Chris's weird quirks and phrase can be traced back to him. (tugboat, ibc, homophobia, miscegenation, views on women and dating)
and honestly the only difference between Chris-chan and bob is the tism. Bob was also desperate for a boyfriend-free sweetheart and probably was manipulated at least a few times because of it; obviously not to the point of Chris, but just the fact that he married Barb means he was probably used to toxic manipulative women, hell when you look at the bob+barb relationship it makes a lot more sense why Chris-chan essentially was a puppet to the whims of whatever some woman that gave him the time of day said. I'm sure if Barb demanded Bob dress up every day and sing songs for her, he would do it too. He would understand how humiliating it is but do it anyway with some old man rationalization (she's the wife, she's the boss; it will be easier if i just do it instead of letting her be angry [he probably used one of these rationalizations when his wife wanted to allow change Chris to change his name])
and mind you we all know a guy like this, its been a trope since the dawn of time, Chris-chan is essentially just the natural result of essentially taking away the ability or chance to learn social cues, even if Chris didn't have the tism, the homophobia and racism, and isolation from family would have led to him having a pretty rough go at it. but presumably him hanging out at the game center and bob paying for friends would have given him the boost he needed. He would have just been a late bloomer like Bob was. even Bob himself is rather shit at talking with people, the young like him because of his stories but you naturally get those from having years of experience, and if you notice, you never hear him talk about past relationships, only stuff he worked on. I'm sure if you cut Chris's life down to the games he played he would seem ok too. I'm sure he has a lot of dumb opinions on how to play pokemon and sonic and the different games, etc. Honestly if it weren't for the fact that everyone that knew Bob is dead, i'd research that, i'm sure whatever rural shithole Bob was born and raised in, they have stories of him doing very Chris-chan esque things in pursuit of a woman. hell just the fact that bob was in his 50s at karaoke should be a bit of a red flag. If some guy that age was busting out tunes and had a video of it posting back in 2009, people would be mocking him too, i guarantee you people in the rural south were mocking him just as much back in the 70s. Barb is exactly who i would expect to be fucking an old man she met at a karaoke night. just going by Barb's known history of suitors, shes pretty much the only woman that would knowingly fuck someone like Chris
Also can we all admit AutoCAD is a terrible fucking degree if you live in fucking ruckersville? Bob knew for a fact that Chris would never be able to leave the Charlottesville area. Yet he had him get a degree in a field that would never be needed or used in rural virginia. Just another example of Bob's bad decisions fucking over Chris.
Barb only visited on the weekends during Chris' early puberty AKA prime change the direction of your son's life time.
on the offchance there was a way to get Chris the help he needed; he could have done it without her knowledge then.

Totally agree, the few interactions (The phone call he did, the pickle suit encounter date, the secretly recorded church meeting) he seem to be just as self scentered as Chris, might be because he was old and had no social life anymore but god damn could he babble on.

There is a lot to unpack there. Not saying tl;dr, just hard to respond to all of it. I don't know if I can disagree with you completely. Some of what you're saying is at least perfectly reasonable. However, I would argue that Bob was hanging out at karaoke simply because Bob loved music his entire life. As for why Bob went along with Barb, who knows -- you might be spot on. I would only point out that women like Barb are very careful not to let people realize what they are really like until their prey is trapped. And I say "prey" because Barb is the very definition of a predator in that sense. In the case of Bob, she used an unexpected/age-defying pregnancy as a snare. Bob was old-fashioned as fuck and probably saw it as an obligation to stay with her simply because she was pregnant with his child. However, you really made me think when you implied we would probably learn a lot if we could speak to people from Bob's earlier life. In all these years that has never occurred to me. I can't say for certain whether or not it would reveal CWCisms in Bob's early life, but it would go a long way in explaining why Bob made a lot of the parenting decisions he made. Do we even know anything substantive about Bob's father and mother -- or even just meaningful details about his upbringing?

I can almost see Bob's point of view when he met Barb. He finds himself in his mid 50's, short and looks like Cotton Hill, just got out of a long term marriage and the kids are grown and out of the house. He goes out to enjoy some music and some singing, one of the biggest passions in his life. There's an auburn haired chick in her late 30's checking him out in the audience while he sings and she's smiling. Later, she chases him down the hall to talk to him. What are the prospects for a and old Cotton Hill look-a-like getting laid? This was his best chance. Too bad Count Ejaculon ruined everything. Decades later he wears a frayed sweater, hasn't had sex in years, has a delusional tard for a son, his wife is a hoarder and has filled the house with garbage that makes him fear the wrath of the Greene County Department of Health and Welfare and his body is infested with parasites. I do kind feel bad for Bob in the last years of his life. He may have been a shitty person at some point. Something that drove his other two kids away. I doubt anyone will ever hear from them so we may never know. I wonder if there was ever a dreaming studio for Mr C. and Little A. where dreams did come true.
