The Final Fantasy Thread

IGN gave the game an 8 out of 10, I don't see this ending well.

That's a lower score than they gave 15. They also gave Breath of the Wild a 10 out of 10.

And the way they spoke about the ending, it should have been lower than an 8. The fact that people don't think reviewers pander at this point is beyond me.

It's certainly a more finished and complete game than 15 was.

And people saying "OH BUT I MIGHT TAKE FOUR GAMES TO FINISH", it's like bitch you don't know nothing we've been waiting 9 games for Calvard.

You can't exactly say a game is finished....until it's finished. And while FFXV was a mess, it had a beginning, middle, and end that wrapped up the main story. It also had the benefit of media and DLC to flesh things out.

I watched the ending on Youtube and I still don't believe this. All you had to do was follow the damn plot, SE! :stress:

But seriously, I'll just play the original blocky version whenever I feel like it. The only thing that really annoys me about all this is that they tried to slip this under the radar to sell more pre-orders. None of this would be an issue if this was marketed as Final Fantasy 7: Kingdom Hearts Edition from the start.

Y'know a lot of people on 4chan are lining up to say Nomura just wanted to copy Avengers: Endgame, but I actually think he's ripping off Doctor Who.

There's an episode where they go 18 years into the past and the companion stops her dad from dying, and about 20 minutes into the story these transdimensional Reapers start killing anyone they can get their claws on in an attempt to brute force the timeline out of a paradox. The only meaningful difference I'm seeing between the Reapers and the brown sperm is that the Reapers show up after the timeline's been subverted.

Poe.png

From GameFAQs, with a screen name like that, I can only say: Poe's Law is at work, hard.

For real, it's Nomura. Square should know better by now. The time ghost stuff has probably killed a few preorders and the continuing games will probably be less and less successful. :optimistic:

Again talking about Sakaguchi, but at least he knew when he fucked up.

Endgame isn't the first to do this, so that would be silly - though I think they are saying this because he mentioned how excited he was for Endgame.

But his love for psycho babble time travel nonsense has been there for a long time. Only person that has him beat is Kojima, who has an even more annoying fan base.

Here we go again with "it's deep" and "if you don't like it, then it's because you don't get it" BS. That's the exact same thing I heard with TLJ or for that matter MGS5 and Evangelion (yeah I went there). Goddamn "coonsumer" shills/apologists.

Exactly, but the point I was going for there is I can't tell if that's a fake person posting sarcastically (I mean their name is Juggalo Sora, it's hard to imagine even the GameFAQs autists having that as their name unironicially) and poking fun at those same apologists.

At least Kojima has directed a good game at one point.

Just did the Wall Market section and oh my god, that was a laugh. Honestly, plot-stuff aside - that segment was hilarious. They've done the whole cross-dressing side quest well, including all the original elements but twisted up a little bit. Don Corneo is just as creepy as he is in the original and the tune that plays in sector 6 is probably one of my favourite FF remix's so far. Though I must admit, I can see a lot of assholes getting angry over the honeybee inn scenes. It's very tongue-in-cheek, very gay and super flamboyant. Not as gay as a hot tub with a bunch of burly dudes, but still very gay. It's awesome.

Honestly that's good to hear. Wall Market's one of the most memorable parts of FF7, and certainly the most politically incorrect. Even back when the remake was announced I was worried that they would have to neuter the sequence somehow and I was especially worried that they would cut the crossdressing sequence in an effort to be more "serious."

At the very least I am glad it's kept mostly intact.

All of wall market is very balls to the wall. Not only are the remixed tracks for sector 6 / wall market definitely the best I've heard so far. The entire segment is just mad and every line of character dialogue had me laughing.
Tifa, Aerith and Cloud still threaten to cut/smash/rip the Don's balls off. Cloud is transformed into a woman after a dance sequence with an extremely camp dude - him and Cloud are doing like, a stripper dance (minus the clothes coming off)? Anyway, it's a button prompt section but it's also hilarious. I kept missing buttons purely because I was distracted. The squats are still a minigame and the gym bunnies say things like 'your muscles are aching with joy!' and other gay shit. Wall Market looks like the slum areas of Blade Runner and all of the people surrounding Don are sick. There were a few lines said during the entire sequence that made me openly say like 'how the fuck did they get away with that? / do that?' I expected them to really water the whole part down, but they didn't. It's very faithful; just no hot tub gang bang.
I don't think I did all of the requirements for the side quest properly either but Cloud still got chosen as the bride, so I don't know if that's still a three-way thing or not dependent on your actions.
