🐱 ‘Karen is a slur’

CatParty

Over the weekend, renowned anti-trans activist Julie Bindel had a thought she decided to share with the internet. Karen, the archetypal racist, classist, and entitled white woman, is clearly, according to Ms. Bindel a “woman-hating” slur “based on class prejudice.”

Some had trouble believing that in the middle of a global crisis this is what Ms. Bindel and her TERF allies were getting het up about. But sadly, yes, the Karen discourse is real and it hasn’t stopped even after several days of it making its way around Twitter.

Karen’s across the internet were in fact quick to agree with Ms. Bindel. Writer Katrina Gulliver felt the need to bring back an old tweet in which she’d claimed that Karen was actually about policing women for asserting their rights in a consumer setting.

However, Karen has never been about that. As screenwriter Camilla Blackett explained so succinctly, “Karen is a catchall for entitled middle-class CIS white women who weaponize their status against the working class and minorities.”. Karen isn’t valiantly asserting her consumer rights, Karen is trying to get someone fired for not accepting an expired coupon—and she absolutely is not oppressed for doing so.

Its an act of incredible Karenness that people are still attempting to argue that Karen is a slur after several days of this, but at least it’s brought us all some great Twitter humor to lighten up another Monday in lockdown.

Yet more obnoxious middle-aged women being a bunch of stuck up cunts. You know, a lot of east asian countries have a similar phenomena, Singapore is notorious for "aunties", women 50 years or older, being rude, loud, aggressive and annoying. I wonder how much similarity there is between that and this Karen bullshit?
It honestly wouldn't surprise me if the Ancient fucking Greeks had an equivalent term. The spectre of Karen has been haunting mankind since the dawn of civilization.

Because they're still in awe of friggin' Hagrid's massive shit encrusted cock.

Okay so if they're not okay with being called "Karens" and shit. How about they stop calling men that they disagree with "incels?" Like that'll ever happen.

maybe if the older generations were sympathetic and more patient with the millenials and gen zeds who make up the majority of retail and customer service workers, they wouldn't get stereotyped.
This. I'm kind of with the troons and SJWs on this one because Karens are a genuine phenomenon, just one that aren't complained about much except by SJWs, who to be fair tend to cluster around dead end jobs like retail (or like to try to hamfistedly advocate for them, anyway).

To me the archetypal Karen isn't an elder boomer in her 60s or 70s, it's a younger boomer or Gen X maybe as young as her late 30s. She grew up being fed pantsuit ideology, that being combative, aggressive, and pretend-masculine would lead to respect and empowerment. Instead her career has probably stalled around lower management, and her husband makes more money. She's insecure, stressed, and has had a lifetime of believing that abusing underlings is a form of empowerment.

Women like her are a nightmare to deal with her in any context. Casual social situations, family situations, the workplace. But especially in a situation where she feels superior to you, which I imagine retail workers suffer under (I've never worked retail). It's entirely reasonable for them to complain about it and have a derogatory term for people who should absolutely be degraded.

👏 Bravo! Exactly! Thank you! They're entitled, narcissistic cunts who think the world revolves around them. They don't care who they hurt or how, just as long as they get their way. That's been my experience with Karens.

Not to mention Karen’s isn’t a new thing. They were just called soccer moms previously. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer_mom

I just feel bad for people actually named Karen. It’s not like they chose that name (unless they’re a troon).
I have an aunt named Karen and she’s the opposite of what people describe as a “Karen”. She’s a loving, generous and thoughtful person. When people call others “Karens”, all I can think of is my aunt, which is why the insult doesn’t make any sense to me.

Seeing that Wu-Flu has arisen the authoritarian Karen crowd, to use it as a facade to further their man hating agenda. Seems to me that the term Karen is quite a respectful way to address bitchy narcissistic women. But I think if anything I will still use the term CUNT because it's better suited for these type of women. Karen just seems to much of a politically correct way of phrasing how CUNTY these women are.

I love seeing the bubble in action. Always way behind the curve and the last to notice everything. "Karen" as an insult has been around for months, if not years. Naturally it's only become important (to this bint anyway) now that mighty Twitter has noticed it.

They're almost as slow as the media at picking up (and reporting) on trends.

Dumb Karen. No manager for you.
It's been around for years. The first I remember seeing soccer moms being collectively called Karens was sometime around 2015.

So... Exactly like troons and SJWs?

So if Karens are annoying middle aged white women, what do we call annoying young white women like this?
