Dammit, I hit the character limit. Okay, Part 2.
Severe host response was something that was noted in SARS, as well. COVID-19 and SARS pathology are very, very similar, as best as I can tell. The key difference with COVID-19 is that SARS-CoV-2 has furin cleavage sites on its spike glycoproteins that enable highly efficient fusion with human cells. This makes it spread a lot faster than SARS-CoV ever could, and it also might enable it to infect cell lines that SARS-CoV can't, like this immunosuppressive, T-cell-destroying effect that we're seeing.
More research is needed. More data is desperately needed on the potential vascular and neurological complications, as well as this immune-system-suppressing effect.
Hey, I’m not into CP. That’s fucking disgusting. Drawings are just fucking drawings. Some sicko abusing a child and filming it is a completely different story. That’s totally unacceptable.
I have a brokerage account where I sock away money, and my investments have actually consistently gained value. I made a modest amount off that. Like $1400 last year and $700 this one. My savings were doing okay, but they’re not looking so hot after I bought thousands in prepper supplies.
Also, the calculations for how much I drink are completely wrong. I don't buy $140 in liquor every month. I buy $140 in liquor like every five months. I don't do 16 fucking shots a day. I can go weeks without having a drop of liquor, and when I do drink, it's usually like between five to ten shots worth. I'll binge for one day, and then go another few weeks without anything. Most of the time, I have like one or two beers a day is all.
Most of the cash that I
do blow goes into big-ticket, durable items. I'm a mechanical keyboard nut and I have a fondness for audio gear and cameras and electronic shit.
I have
plenty of money. I don't have any money issues at all. I always keep a backup fund of $10,000 at minimum and never go below that.
Well, at first, maybe I did think that people weren't taking it seriously. But now, I see that they are. That's reassuring.
It's in a safe location. It was aboard a ship that's been in the shipyard for a couple weeks already. All the fomites on surfaces are dead, and there's no one around. I've been wearing a mask to and from the job site. I have assessed the risks properly and I am taking all appropriate precautions, including spraying touch surfaces with disinfectant, not touching my face, avoiding people and their aerosols, et cetera. There's no point in wearing a mask in an open, well-ventilated space if there isn't anyone around. It's only if you're near people, or in an enclosed space where aerosols may linger in the air, that you should wear a mask outside.
I'm planning on it, actually.
I like Space Engineers, Starmade, KSP, et cetera. I like doing large and complicated builds. I once did a ship in Starmade that had 13 million blocks.

I'm also into digital audio workstation stuff on my desktop rig. I make music. That's why my rig has 128 gigs of RAM. It needs to be able to run Spitfire and Vienna Symphonic Library. I own something like $8 to $10k in virtual instruments.

I'm a little out of practice. I need to get back into it and compose a bit more seriously. The orchestral stuff I do, I like doing layered ostinato sections and odd-meter stuff, almost like math rock. I like to experiment with uncommon sounds, textures, and rhythms. Very often, I sketch pieces simply by singing them
a cappella.
One of my tics is singing improv a cappella stuff just, everywhere. Any time I'm alone and I'm not listening to music, I have to make music by singing it. If I'm in the shower, or if I'm alone at work, I'll come up with ideas for my music. Not singing or humming any particular pre-existing song, mind you, but coming up with entirely new compositions.

I don't wish to comment on my exact IQ score. Suffice it to say, I am a midwit. Neither a genius nor a dummy. I'm right in that sweet spot where I play second-fiddle to the 130 and 140 IQ people while also being horrified at the mind-numbing stupidity of the average person.
Well, I'm into a little bit of Bakunin, a little of Kropotkin, a little Stirner, and so on, but I'm mainly into Thorstein Veblen.
A lot of people have me confused for an Anarcho-Socialist and Marxist when really, I'm more of a Veblenite/Technocrat.
I don't understand why no one ever debates it when I bring up Thorstein Veblen. His name is like the Fnords from Discordianism.
It's like, people don't
see it when you say Thorstein Veblen. His name is invisible. I can say it over and over again, and they still don't see it.
Thorstein Veblen, Thorstein Veblen, Thorstein Veblen.
... and yet, I cannot find a single person willing to discuss the topic at all. It feels almost like a practical joke. Did a person named Thorstein Veblen ever really exist, or did I merely hallucinate it? I'm not sure. I keep naming him, and people keep ignoring it and calling me a Marxist.

I became an anarchist over time due to disillusionment with the state of modern society. I'm not a smashie or a tankie. I take a very dim view of people breaking shit and rioting in the street. I also have an intense dislike of authoritarianism.
I am an American, of course, and since 9/11, I have been subjected to the cavalcade of horrors that is American foreign policy. It's kind of ironic. I love weapons and military technology, but I am a pacifist and generally despise war. From one president to the next, each one promises to end the excesses and warmongering of the last one, but they don't deliver on that promise at all. The Clintoncrats went into Kosovo, and Bush was like "I'm gonna put a stop to that", and then, he started the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Obama was like "I'm going to end the Bush-era policies of warmongering and close Gitmo", and not only did he
not close Gitmo, he started wars in Libya and Syria.
The CIA straight-up
gave a pile of guns, ammo, and TOW missiles to nutcases shouting Takbirs! What the fuck did American troops die in Iraq and Afghanistan for, if we were just gonna give free weapons to another bunch of Salafi lunatics and repeat the same mistake we made when we armed the Mujahideen against the Soviets?

So, basically, American blood was spilled for nothing. We go from fighting terrorists and insurgents to arming them at the drop of a hat, and no one questions it.
Meanwhile, public services in the US are a complete shambles. Our infrastructure is decaying, people are struggling with medical debt and student debt, and yet, somehow, we have trillions of dollars to blow on these ridiculous wars that serve no purpose.
Saddam didn't have any fucking WMDs.
Afghanistan is a shithole and the Graveyard of Empires and there's no point in being there.
Gaddafi didn't do a fucking thing wrong, he was friends with Sarkozy and supported his campaign only to get backstabbed by that son of a bitch, and the so-called "responsibility to protect" was used as an excuse to invade his country. Oh, gee. I guess if American citizens started rioting and bulldozing government buildings and burning down police stations, the National Guard wouldn't fuck 'em up like they did at Kent State. Gee, I guess that means someone ought to invade us if that happened! Sovereign nations have no right to protect their own sovereignty against rebellion in their own borders. We must bomb them to rubble and deprive people of their government.
Just like we supported rebels in Syria, when people there overwhelmingly supported Bashar al-Assad. The chemical attack in Douma was a complete fabrication, and the OPCW covered up a contradictory report.
You know what I'd like to see as an American? I'd like to see my government quit spending trillions of dollars on military adventurism, and spend a little on revitalizing our goddamn country so we're no longer the laughingstock of the world.
Redevelop and repair the goddamn infrastructure, dammit! They're letting everything fall to fucking ruin!
NBC News found cases from across the country where pieces of crumbling bridges broke off and fell to the roadway, sometimes hitting vehicles.

And that's just to start. I could tell you all sorts of shit about capitalism, conspicuous consumption, planned obsolescence, the throwaway economy, all that, but I'll try and summarize it in just a couple sentences.
Basically, Chinese sweatshop workers make useless fucking plastic trinkets that smell like old car tires, and then they load them on a container ship burning disgusting bunker fuel, and then, that ship comes into port in the US and that shit gets distributed to every Walmart so every dumbass mouth-breathing American can proffer their credit card at the register and go into fucking debt to own more useless plastic junk. This plastic junk is then thrown away in the space of about a year, where it ends up in a landfill, or dismantled by Malaysian children ripping toxic garbage apart with their teeth. All the money goes to China so Xi Jinping can buy more dragon dildos, I don't know.
Basically, I am an anarchist because I realize that I'm living in the prequel to Idiocracy and Wall-E, and I would like to tear this system down before the literal garbage mountains begin to appear.
Yes, yes, I realize that I'm a consoomer. You don't have to pull that "LOL why do you have electronics then?" thing.
I repair all my stuff. I have a soldering iron and bit driver sets. I hardly ever throw anything away.
And I don't buy junk, either. I buy only the best.
Anyway, I've been shifting more towards Classical Liberalism lately because I realized that my anarchist friends were brain-dead morons who didn't give a fuck about the virus and actively shunned me for my very reasonable concerns about it.
Fuck it. I may as well get into investing, make my money, and enjoy myself, and fuck everyone else. Fuck 'em. Altruism is worthless at this point.
I mean, look. They're nominating Joe Biden. Joe Biden. That exceptional kiddie-fiddling, demented fucking freak.
Durr, dey rub mah leg down!
Okay, grandpa.
There is only one thing to do, this coming election. Bring the fucking popcorn. Bring all of it.
We are about to witness levels of salt and butthurt and insanity never-before-seen. This is going to be the stuff of legends.
I wasn't trying to imply that SARS-CoV-2 was related to any of those viruses. Rather, what I was suggesting is that direct immune-suppression (rather than mere avoidance of immune responses) is a trait of some of the most vicious viruses out there. We have to be wary of this thing.
Herpes and Epstein-Barr can avoid immune responses by trying to hide from immune surveillance and going dormant. Ebola and HIV are nasty, but herpes and EBV are fairly common infections that are only really an issue if someone has a weak immune system and they're roused from their dormant state.
SARS-CoV-2 is neurotropic. What if it can hide and go dormant in nerves like herpes? What if it never goes away? We need answers to these questions.
I was discussing the ways this virus avoids immune surveillance with WesternBlotter, a PhD immunologist, and he was seriously creeped the hell out by this thing.
You have no idea how happy I am that a few people on here actually understand the terminology and what I'm getting at with this thing.
