Also that maybe it's justifiable for someone who puts boxes on shelves at the grocery store to not make the same amount of money as a doctor or nurse, because they're doing a job that, while essential, literally anyone who's not completely retarded (including some people who are actually medically retarded if they're high functioning enough) can do.Nobody here thinks that, lol. We're just saying that they aren't currently making minimum wage.
The main thing is, Labelle for some reason seems to think that essential employees are people who can't take work off because they don't make enough money, not people who need to keep working so everyone can have food, water, electricity, and emergency medical treatment. If all of those people made a million bucks a year and just quit their jobs during the pandemic, that would cause a whole lot of deaths. There are people who made very little money who are out of work now and people who make lots of money who are still working. As is the case with people bitching about capitalism about 60-70% of the time, this has nothing to do with capitalism. Any remotely competent state run economy would force essential employees to keep working. I'm sure China has, even though it's not really being reported on, like a lot of things China has been doing recently.
