Kind of dumb to suggest everyone who is prevented from working could get a job as an essential worker. In fact, the whole thing is dumb.

Oddly enough if you look at the comments on Raw Story the consensus is that Cuomo was right and pwned the reporter with facts and logic but on Youtube, the response is that he's a horrifically bad leader and should go.
Cuomo is a cretin and everyome who voted for him should feel extra stupid right now.

A quite informative summary of why Ecuador got screwed so hard. (tl:dr general incompetence, attempts of covering it up, and politicians bein interested only in getting/holding power).

Also, a few days ago, the Polish edition of Newsweek (which should be taken with a few grains of salt) ran a story about the PPE delivered from China to Poland, bought by one of the companies. According to the story they were not tested in any way and the whole transaction was based on the documentation presented by the Chinese. Supposedly the producers have some kinds of international certificates for their products from both the US and EU, but buying a great load of such cargo from China and using arguments about having "trusted Chinese trade partners for 20 years" does not sound reassuring.

Also the Polish numbers for today: cases 10 169(+ 313) , deaths 426(+ 25), cured cases: 1513(+ 216) with 14 460 tests performed today.

Think of how many flavors of Soylent we could have it we started melting people at the age of 60 like the Kaelons.

I'd probably taste pretty nasty.

And to those who bitch about "boomers" - as previously stated, it's retarded to tar every member of any generation with the same brush. Am quite sure you will find many "boomers", risking, and sometimes losing their lives while treating those afflicted with this ChiCom Flu, world-wide. Going to see plenty of "boomers" working in labs worldwide developing a vaccine or treatment for this disorder. Got shitloads of "boomers" worldwide driving trucks, captaining ships/barge tows, driving trains, and flying planes carrying goods and people where they need to go. 55's a "boomer", and from where I sit 55 isn't that old. Matter of fact, in many lines of work 55 is prime - lots of experience, made their mistakes, know how to get things done. Would YOU prefer a 22-year-old heart/brain/whatever surgeon, just out of medical school, to operate on your heart/brain/whatever, or someone 55 years old who's been doing these operations for 25 years and has seen damned near everything? I'll always prefer the more experienced surgeon, because it's my ass on the line.

Life's a team effort. Everyone has a place on the team. Youth and skill is always good, but when you add age and cunning things can get even better, in any endeavor.

Look at people as people, not as ages or generations. Not that hard.

I’m surprised about the amount of people who criticize the people wanting to go back to work? Is it a fear of death for people or is it something more sinister?

I worry that, as a society, we've become addicted to fear and outrage. That we view those who would rather go on with their lives despite the risks as the real deviants. Obsessively checking Twitter and Reddit for the latest iterations of "WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE AND IT'S ALL __________'S FAULT!" or "OH MY GOD CAN YOU BELIEVE WHAT ________ DID TODAY?" is a horrible way to live. When you spend all of your free time looking at how awful the world is, that really does some damage on your psyche. Given a choice between that and the WuFlu, I'll take my chances with the latter. Life is not a fucking safe space.

Let me guess: something like this?

Hehehehehehe. Yeah they sent that to us. Btw it was the AMERICAN company that sent them to us, the Gary Gallaxy. Turns out their factory is in china. As the packaging indicates they claim the UE and FDA and CE.

And then we checked using the protocol from UNE 149: 2001+A1:2010. Turns out they're shit. And we now got a buncha sick hospital personnel. I mean. A bunch more.

BTW there were 2 packages. Green was that. Blue had no marks or claims of anyone checking anything. Blue one was actually up to snuff. Food for thought.

My biggest hopes

1. The New York serology studies shows metric-shittons of people were infected and recovered. In early april they found 15% of pregnant women ACTIVELY were infected with the virus. Throw in everyone infected since then and everyone who recovered from it since January and you could have a quarter population infected with antibodies or even more. In random sampling in Boston a third of people had antibodies. Wuhan number is said to be 10%.

2. Ivermectin, the BCG vaccine, remdesivir, avigan, or the rubella vaccine work out. Ivermection has had hella good trials so far. It is incredibly cheap, safe, easily made, FDA approved.

3. Sweden doesn't suffer some calamity in the next month.

He might as well have just said stop being poor lmao

I think it's a lot of genuine fear, and while I don't think the fear is unwarranted it's also leading into hysteria. Once the protestors can be easily associated as Trump supporters it just becomes TDS fueled by even more hysteria than usual.

While I understand the need to open the economy back up soon, I do hope there will be protections in place for vulnerable people. I’m a vulnerable person; I have an autoimmune disorder that causes scar tissue to build up in my throat, meaning my airway is much narrower than normal and I have breathing problems. It’s much better than it used to be thanks to medication and numerous surgeries, but if I got a respiratory infection or anything that affects my breathing I’d be in severe trouble. So needless to say I’ve been extremely cautious over the past few weeks.

I’m still working but as a receptionist I’m required to be in the office to answer the phone. I’m actually doing double the work because I’m covering for the other receptionist, who is elderly (still kind of peeved my employer thought she was too much at risk but I’m not despite telling them my medical history, but whatever, I’m managing it). They do let me do projects from home twice a week, though (they do have someone who can cover me, just not full time) minimizing my exposure. It also helps that everyone else is working from home so there’s usually fewer than 10 people in the building and we all keep our distance.

I hope once the official restrictions are lifted they’ll continue to allow some people to work from home so this place doesn’t get crowded again. And I really hope I’ll be allowed to keep working from home 2 days a week so I can minimize my exposure to the outside world while this virus is still widespread. I usually keep my head down and do what I’m told at work, but if they want me to expose myself to danger when I’m vulnerable I guess I’ll have to be ready to fight it.

Ya, that's why WWII Americans and Great Depression Americans would be laughing their asses off at us right now. The WWII Americans knew what it was like to be part of a country fighting for its' life. The Great Depression Americans would have died and gone to heaven to get even a $100 "stimulus" check. Matter of fact, the US Government during the Great Depression did all it could to keep from paying WWI veterans their bonus before the planned date of 1945. The vets finally got their bonus in 1936, but not without one hell of a lot of turmoil.

I always seem to sound like I'm giving a history lesson. Maybe more Americans should study their history. The USA has been through many tough times in the past, but our people were tougher.

America didn't used to run scared. It had the confidence born from weathering wars, depressions, epidemics, and natural disasters. Best I can figure, America as a whole started to lose that self-confidence at or about the time of 9-11. Too many people, at too many levels, took counsel of their fears. And we all know what happened. Same damned thing has happened here. Way too many people have taken counsel of their fears, especially those in most state governors' seats. And we see what's happening. Got a lot of little Hitlers creaming their jeans and panties while on their personal power trips. And because so many people have taken counsel of their fears, most accepted the ukases these fucks promulgated at face value. Not so much, now.

Happily, we aren't Chinese. When Americans stop buying the politicians' bullshit, they act. Seeing it now. Getting support from the President and Attorney General. Believe the next time there is a calamity, and there will be another one at some time, people will have much less faith in politicians' proclamations and work around/ignore them from te get-go. And the politicians will have only themselves to blame.

It's been said nobody gets out of life alive. Matter of fact, tomorrow isn't guaranteed to you, to me, to anyone. You learn to use your brain and live with a degree of risk, at least if you have a life worth living. Could well be that when a person dies, God is more likely to ask them, "What did you do with your life?" instead of "Where did you hide and cower all your life?"

no fuck off with the propaganda crap.

The h1n1 flu didn't originate in america it came from mexico.

America didn't try to cover up H1N1 or make sure it spread like China did with Covid-19.

China needs to go back to being a closed country. Just cut it off. It's a net negative to the global community.

Also real convenient of them to change the story now.

If you're that bad off I don't know how you manage to do that kind of job during a regular flu season.

Understatement. That said, yeah, they might happen to be right. Finland already screwed itself over with Chinese trash, if we get away with this it will be just thanks to luck. I hope we can get around to actually producing protective gear and selling the surplus to other countries. We have the means to compete for the market niche and provide an alternative to defective stuff from China.

I've seen a homeless person wearing a mask today. I have no idea where he got it, but considering his life circumstances, it's pretty damn thoughtful.

Fun fact. While the H1N1 virus was first detected in america, through its genetic sequence it has been confirmed to come from eurasian pigs imported into the farm they were detected in. From CHINA. And while the supposed initial outbreak was actually stopped in the EEUU, it misteriously kept reapearing in all countries without seemingly any connection to the original farm. Want us to demand reparations for that one too? I'm all for it.

And that right there is why I said we should wait and see. Honestly. I wish sweeden was right. But I suspect they are in the process of finding out the hard way just how filthy their new refugee pals are. If corona purges the migrants... don't look a gift horse in the mouth?

The people who say that are fucking stupid and show the true socialist colors of not understanding what "economy" means. They hear "the economy is going to collapse" and they think it's all wallstreetbets memes and the stock market. They don't understand that the food on their plate, the clothes on their back, and the roof over the heads are all a product of the economy. These are the kind of exceptional individuals that went out and stood in lines for hours to get toilet paper because of ticktock memes and media panic stories. Absolute micro-brains.
When these types go on about "we can't sacrifice lives by sending people to work! That's evil!" ask them about the lives of food supply chain workers, the people who keep the electricity running, sanitation workers and any other critical infrastructure workers. Because they're 100% ok with sacrificing people's lives if they think it's for the greater good, just as long it's not them. They absolutely malfunction when you bring this up.
