You're talking about people for whom that was an accepted form of dealing with business. You could run around doing that shit three thousand years ago and it was fine and proper. In 2020, however, us civilized people have methods for dealing with shit that don't involve trying to kill people. You cannot compare the Torah methods of dealing with rapists and murderers to the modern methods of dealing with a supposedly drug addicted spouse. Why on earth would Elohim allow all these systems to be established if they weren't intended to be used at some point to save lives?
Instead of the common sense method of dealing with the situation, Marshall endangered his life (what if his wife had attacked him with a weapon in self defense and killed him?), his child's life and his wife's life because he has a fetish for beating up women he thinks are too uppity and he's too stupid and prideful to deal with his problems like an adult.

Being "charged" doesn't mean he was found "guilty". Those are two different steps in the legal process

No, he pled guilty, which means he admitted his guilt. You can bet if Marshall had taken his charges to trial he would have been found guilty and received a considerably harsher sentence. The only smart decision Marshall has made in his whole life was pleading guilty. I just wonder how long it took for his attorney (court appointed, since Marshall's a deadbeat) to pound it into his head that he really really needed to take the plea.

Melinda referring to male concubines seemed off. Unless Marshall is a trans man, concubines are biological women meant to carry children for their ‘husband‘ in the case that his wife could not. Women concubines lived with the man, but had a lower status than the wife.
This was a common practice in China.
