I wonder how she accounts for mother's who aren't producing enough to fully nourish their babies. Some women have twins or other multiple births and simply must supplement with formula. If a woman has a degenerate boyfriend into drugs/crime/abuse (or vice versa) CPS will sometimes order the custodial parent to lose the live-in louse or lose the kids instead.

At one point she credited it as being a lifestyle choice, LTS, or living together separately. Where a married couple just can't live together because umm reasons, but stays married in all other respects. Most of us would call this being separated, but. Melinda, as always is super duper special and calls it something else.
This doesn't take into account that they are likely not legally married, due to the possible benefits cut it might cause. And they undoubtedly do live together, except when Marshall is out getting his "card" punched.

As far as I know he's still on probation from his child beating charge, in which case a possible explanation would be that he's precluded from living with minors until his probation is completed.

Most people would be horrified and surprised to find themselves the target of even one CPS complaint, much less multiple complaints and multiple investigations. Embarrassed, too. For Melinda? It's just another day. It's just an ongoing part of her life. Why wouldn't it be? CPS was intimately involved in her parents' life, after all. CPS being intimately involved in her life isn't the least bit surprising. This is a second-generation (at least) abusive environment. Melinda has never had a normal family life and has no idea what one looks like.

Marshall's "cruel and unusual" punishment was probably sitting in jail because he couldn't raise his bail. Courts don't consider that cruel or unusual, Melinda.
