The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

There's some Mass Effect (Lawson), Lara Croft.....
*Googling*
Blood(Rayne)
Some of the Mortal Kombat ladies?
But yeah, the meme seems to hold pretty well. Even OW and Witcher gals are usually edited a lot when they are 34'd.
you forgot Shantae and Cortana. Theres also possibly a couple others that I can’t recall But yeah the vast majority fall into the category of butt ugly or would be attractive if not held back by technological constraints of the time

I was extremely surprised when I found out that Nolan North voiced and mocapped David. From Drake to David? That was a good performance

Nolan's got a great range, even if the voice itself is distinctly Drake. Steven Heck from Alpha Protocol and Captain Walker from Spec Ops are great examples - it's very clearly him, but cheerful sociopathic lunatic living out spy fantasies, and weary soldier gradually losing his mind to the horrors of warfare are two very different roles he absolutely nails.

Dont pretend that this did not start long ago with devs making ReaLiStUk BelIeVaBle FemAle ChARatErs.
Gorilla literally said that they wanted to desexualize the main female lead.
Also there will be more of these Abby monsters in games.

Oh no!
You sound creepophobic.

This is stupid and exceptional. Are you really wanting to start a hot war because you want to pop some jollies to every remotely female thing you see in a game?

I don't typically like ugly female characters either, dude, especially when there's obviously a clear agenda behind it. But I recognize that many of them serve a point other than being your goddamn cum-dumpster. Do I think female characters are being harmfully desexualized? Hell yeah. See my previous posts on how shitty Abby's model is. I don't like politics in gaming, especially when it comes to how bad lots of female characters are these days. But I also don't think that every female character you come across has to be conventionally attractive. Simple as that. Obviously I don't want them repulsive. But I appreciate having different model dynamics to look at depending on the scenario the game is presenting you with.

So yeah. You're a creep. Stop shitting up the thread and go fap to lolis elsewhere.

Saw this floating around. Probably reddit fuckery. If true then Druckmann probably has a book on nihilism in his office only for other people to see it.

Interesting. So basically this alleged new leaker contends that the leaks the far - which have had a fair amount of video backing them up - omit the last two hours of the game to make it look worse than it is. Technically possible, but color me skeptical. Even if every word of this was true, it's not an improvement, and looking it over it rings hollow and false.

What exactly is going on with the pile on here? This went from 4chan-lite to Resetera real quick with people intentionally missing the point Truthseeking was making.

There has been a hard push for "photo realism" in video games for a while now. Resident Evil has started to do it, heck even Uncharted and The Last of Us have done it and shed their video game looks. God of War was another one. SONY has been pushing developers to do this for nearly a decade now. With this comes an argument in favor of SJWs - "We need our photorealistic games to represent my shitty life, so make that character ugly so I don't feel like I need to compete with big titty females on the screen"

It's a problem.

Aloy had some real weird proportions when all the armor was removed.

Killing off Joel in such a heartless, cold-blooded manner is a MASSIVE killing blow no matter what the game's ending is.

Hmm...yeah but that tends to be the case for games set more in the real world.

Except none of them are set in the real world. Spiderman was set in NYC but it's their fantasy version of NYC.

If you're doing a visual form of media, part of it has to be making it look visually appealing.

Ugliness can be made to look visually appealing, but realism cannot work within the confines of anything fantastical. People confuse believability with realism.

Realism is the death of art because it won't show you how far you can push something.

Games have been set in the real world for years now, but they weren't pushed to look photo realistic. Compare OG Resident Evil 1-3 to the remakes. Nobody feels like they have to compete with big titty low res polygon girls. When you turn out the same game in a crisp 4k photo realistic textures, then suddenly that thing you see on screen becomes a lot more intimidating to the sexual hierarchy.

Resident Evil was supposed to be a play on B-Level horror movies. It embraced it's camp. Now it's photo realism with a tomboy rather than a model looking chick showing off her shoulders and legs killing zombies. Like I said, this is becoming a huge problem with SONY. They're garbage.

Its also the refuge of the poorly creative. Copy/pasting real life with great detail isn't creative, its at best technical problem solving unless they found some novel way to execute it but then just the method is creative, not the results.

Resident Evil was entirely Capcom's doing

Jill also is not photorealistic. Her skin being flawless on the newer model is a big sign of this. They designed Jill to be like a fashion model, those are also still heroic porportions on her new model so she'll stand out.

Everything for resident evil sides with things being believable and not realistic. Look at the enemies from it, Nemesis is in no way's realistic nor are ones like The Lickers and regular zombies. They all have very exaggerated proportions and animations. They also have very strong silhouettes.

Capcom's designs again are not realistic but they're believable in a fantasy sense, they look like they could work on a surface level and they're also visually interesting to look at. the designs draw your attention to them. The same texture artist team in MHW also worked on the REMakes

I saw a lot of meming about Jill on /v/ but I don't see what the problem is here. She looks like a cross between OG RE3 and the actress Mila whoever from the Resident Evil movies.
In fact lately there's a lot of criticism at games for using real life models to base videogame faces off of. DMCV got flak for the mo-cap team botching their job and making for a somewhat uncanny result, and if my likeness was used for Mass Effect: Andromeda I would sue Bioware for defamation.... digressing, the Resident Evil team have been doing a good job. The main characters in RE2 & RE3 all look gorgeous imo and given its HD, creates a good subconscious contrast between beauty/life and the body horror surrounding you.

EDIT: To contrast this with TLOU, there isn't a contrast between clickers and people. The world has gone to hell, and if you wanna stay alive in hell, you've gotta inhabit some of the negatives. Nothing wrong with that, only problem is TLOU ushered in the Sony-brand games for the PS4 era. It works for some but not for others. Like look at the concept art for Horizon and contrast it with the pic above. Aloy didn't need to be homely for the narrative to work. Hell, other designs in that same game actually look really cool. If it sounds rude that I want to look at beautiful characters rather than average ones then so be it. I see normal looking people for free all the time. I'm not enthused to experience an unpleasant art-style, and when you're backed by tremendous cash there's no excuse.
I wonder what Abby's IRL model thinks of everybody thinking the character is pseudo-trans. Nobody seriously would think she's a man just by looking at her, but if ND were trying to authentically present a masculine cis-woman in this game... I think they failed, and that's on them, not the original face / body model

Really? The bodies alone are a huge difference, especially the waist lines. And while RE3 remake didn't go full TLOU, the proportions are still aimed to imitate your average every day thin female. The OG Jill has a far more model-like shape.

Her skin looks pretty off actually, a little too pale.
