You know about the card-game poker right? You can't show your hand in such a game, until the end when asked for a showdown.

A big part of that game is bluffing. If your cards are good, you try to keep a straight face, and bluff people into throwing more money into the pot before raking in everything. If your cards are shit, you still bluff, but you try to convince the others with your bluff that your cards are great. All whilst holding them to your chest.
