If you're talking about "trendercore", it's pretty much the end result of the great Transmed vs Tucute war on tumblr.

It's a pushback from the Tucutes against the phrase "transtrenders" and other stuff they see as "gatekeeping" like dysphoria being a requirement for trans identity, being against neopronouns, etc. Basically they're confronting the accusation that they're making transgenderism into an aesthetic by... making it into an aesthetic. The aesthetic is based on them "reclaiming" Transmed caricatures, which depict Tucute FTMs as ultra-feminine, flamboyant, and non-dysphoric attention-seekers. Instead of defusing these stereotypes, Tucutes incorporate them into the trendercore aesthetic and make "trendersonas", which are meant to represent themselves while fighting back against the Transmed school of thought.

To sum it up, it's an aesthetic created as a result of the inane slapfights between two divisions of tumblr's trans community. The people drawing the images do identify as transgender, so the "trendersonas" aren't them imagining themselves as trans, but rather them asserting themselves against what they call gatekeeping of the trans identity.

If that was one and done reinterpretation for the portfolio I will be fine with it, but this punk Sailor Moon trend, especially with agressive slogans got popular (nowadays less than in 2016 when it peaked I think), because I find it really OOC. Usagi is airhead, impulsive, but very emphatethic and sweet girl and this seems like almost exact opposite of her.

And I just don't like using cartoon/existing characters for activism.
