I agree with everything you said except the quoted sentence. Frog has said his per-unit production cost for the most expensive book he sells is $2-3. Gemini mailers are $.50 and below in bulk quantities of 750+. Shipping is at most $4.46 within the US.

So that's $8 TOTAL cost per book that he sells for $35 or more ($25 + $10+ shipping). Headsketch books are $100 and above. Do the math on that, fucker is rolling in it.

That's not even counting the YT money.

Those are optimistic numbers. Ethan mailed ashcans separately and fucked up on multiple occasions in the fullfilment which was a clusterfuck. Generally clusterfucks raise costs massively and I see no reason to doubt that's the case here. Even Ethan admited that his profit from the first campaign was not in the same ballpark as what people were assuming.

Ethan made a lot of cash off that book but not the "rolling in it" kind of cash.

He also lives in a Dem state with taxes that could choke a porn star. His margins will probably be better on the new book provided he doesn't fuck himself on stretch goals which seems like a danger.

I'm not gonna be MATI, but what you just said is something a vast majority of people would likely find offensive.

The mailer price came from Gemini's site and the shipping came off the packages I have right here that have never been opened. Based on the shipping labels the most it costs is $4.46 to/from the two furthest points in the US.

Whatever leeway there is from international order shipping and his printing fuckups has more than been made up in $100 sketch covers and fried-chicken boxes. His profit margins are better than heroin.

Zac owes the success of his first 2 book to the movement (not Ethan) and Ethan has helped with JB2 and the others but the majority of Ethan's fans don't really know or care who Zack is. Most of Ethan's fans came while or after Zack noped out.

Regardless, you are right, no one is likely to copy Zack's model of success by starting an internet movement by accident because they shot silly videos of comics in their laps.

EVS over charges for US shipping to make up the difference on international. It's a gamble. Australians are paying $10 US for shipping just like the guy in Hoboken.

In business margins are never what the casual onlooker thinks. They are always less and generally way less.

I did the math on Jeff Hick's grift and estimated his expenses at around 15% if IIRC but realistically they were probably double that after all the bullshit and taxes that come with running a business when you've never run one before.

I'll just say my piece on CG. @FROG has legitimate talent from what I've seen. I can barely draw a stick figure, but I can respect that Ethan has actual artistic talent. The problem is that in his haste to create CG as a "legitimate" movement, he really didn't consider who he was bringing in; this is why people like Micah Curtis, Matthew Lewis, and Liam Gray all were able to get a foothold and you started to see the shift away from a quality product that came out when promised more towards dramamongering.

Originally CG was supposed to be about anybody going around mainstream gatekeepers. Was EVS to know that TUG and co would be such dumpsterfires when most of their shit was still anonymous?

He didn't jump into the autism sewer and doesn't critize CG members enough seem to be the biggest issue people have.

I wouldn't call Meyer a failure but at the moment he appears to be on a downward slide, his campaigns are making less money and generating less backers each time.

Everybody compares to the first JB, which would never have made as much money without the stores and then Waid fucking with it. It was on track for about $150-175k when the store info was released it jumped to $190-200k, then Waid fuckery doubled his numbers. I think he has found a niche of ~200k for JB and ~125k for his IS books, falling backers and lazier campaigns seems true though.

Anna brings the Fandom Menace, a natural crossover audience for a group with tons of disposable income. If CG ever hopes to attract new customers that's the first place to start. WC shitting on Anna was a shot across the bow to protect the turf they've carved out. In my mind that's the root of the current split between Frog and WC. Frog didn't really get traction on YT until he went after Disney Star Wars, then he exploded. FM accepted him with open arms and he was a hit.

WC is the landing point for every outcast who've been shit on their entire lives (probably for good reason). Suddenly they woke up one day to find they were the cool kids for the first time ever and many will protect that status to the death. Bringing in a whole new fan group that are already established, actually well-adjusted to society and having A LOT more money to throw around pushes WC to the side. They've become a liability.
