The hymen, despite its historical significance, is actually a pretty basic structure. It’s a small piece of membrane found at the entrance to the vagina. It is usually shaped like a crescent piece of tissue and does not cover the entire dainty hole. (If it does - this is called an imperforate hymen and needs to be surgically cut - it’s usually found out when a girl doesn’t seem to menstruate despite being of age/other puberty symptoms. Amber has periods - she is currently passing tissue, she does not have an imperforate hymen. Not even a micro hymen) The hymen, as most intelligent people know, is not a symbol of virginity - it has usually ruptured long before sexual activity takes place. Any girl who horses rides or used tampons, indulges in some frisky fingers or, as in my case- clam slams a cross bar on a bike after a sudden stop, will have likely lost their hymen long before being rogered by a spotty, fumbling teenage boy.

Reported bleeding at losing ones virginity can usually be attributed to micro tears caused by the vagina stretching, or vaginal dryness/not quite being ready/nerves etc. Some women do indeed have their hymen ‘broken’ at intercourse.

Disclaimer: I haven’t watched this video so am just making assumptions right now. If she was admitted with heavy vaginal bleeding, she would have been on the business end of a speculum pretty quickly. This in itself causes issues - most women are familiar with stirrups to get into position (lithotomy) to allow the cervix to be visualised. This is nigh on impossible for Amber. Likely she would have needed nurses or HCAs to support her legs back and possibly even part flesh to allow access. Secondly, it probably wouldn’t even show much. The fatter you are, the more the flesh of your vagina is pushed inwards. You are literally trying to squeeze a speculum through flabby pink flesh that you are having to assert massive pressure to keep open.

Also doctors are busy. There is no fucking way a doctor is going to perform a hymen repair in ER. I repair perineums regularly. You assess the damage and decide if sutures are necessary or will the damage heal naturally and neatly. There are excellent blood supplies down there and the female body naturally sits together so healing is usually efficient and effective. If sutures are required, it’s just to encourage the tissues to join again, or to subdue a feisty little blood vessel. Labial grazes can be left unless they are a matching pair - in which case you usually repair one side to prevent the labia healing together and encourage regular, er, parting.

Hymen repairs are big business and usually require knocking out a patient - and I admire the gas man/woman who would volunteer to anaesthetise Amber. My colleagues get twitchy with BMIs over 35 - fat throats collapsing, reflux, apnoea, it’s definitely on hard mode. In other words - Amber is lying.

Briefly - as this isn’t my speciality, having excess fat literally gives you an extra endocrine system. PCOS is common in fatties for this reason. My guess is that Amber has irregular periods. A period is the shedding of the uterine lining after non conception. If you are irregular and a massive fatty, you can get an extremely thickened lining and when this finally decides to shed - big clots and tissue. Although it can also be a symptom of cervical cancer so kudos to the doctors for covering all bases.

Amber forgers that there are all sorts of people on the internet. Most of them have more brain cells than her and can analyse what she is saying and come to the conclusion that she’s either completely misunderstood the situation, or more likely, lying through her misaligned teeth. Some people on the internet, gasp, are even medical. And get days off to point and laugh at fatties.

Edit: She had a D&C? Godspeed to that anaesthestist. And to the team caring for her. She says they were shocked? I bet they were - 600lb women are always shocking. Horrifying is another word I would use. Biggest person I’ve encountered had a BMI of 59 but was also 6ft tall.

I'm guessing double that if she had anesthesia. The Anesthesiologist will be an extra charge, as will all the medications involved, she no doubt had to go to a room to recover, so there'll be a room charge, and the above comment is correct, the ER charges are astronomical.

That's my guess as well. This could easily have been a $20k procedure without insurance, and the anesthesia required to keep her sedated but alive will eat up a big chunk of that bill at the end of the day. God bless the anesthesiologist tasked with THAT responsibility! I wonder what dose of Propofol is required to knock out a monster, but not kill it. Are we talking Michael Jackson levels here or what?

That sounds like something that could've waited for office hours and be done in local anesthesia. I agree. A hymen is not something you would generally bother to fix. Even if it bleeding, you might cauterize but overall a hymen is rather useless. It is entirely possible that they ended up dilating the vaginal canal surgically so they can move around or something got traumatized and had to be fixed. I very much doubt our gorl has good understanding of anatomy or medical procedures and is just throwing out what she understood, not what actually happened.

she had serious bleeding, uterine bleeding. it is pretty strange for bleeding to be that bad without childbirth. A lot of serious post partum bleeding looks like what she is describing with huge clots. Usually when people have periods they expel endometrial tissue and a small amount of blood that comes with it from the sloughing process. The uterus is supposed to contract to stop the bleeding (this is part of why cramping is felt during periods, it serves the purpose of helping to slough off the endometrium but also stop bleeding). It seems to me, after watching the video, that she had very thick endometrium that the uterus could not expel and so the blood supply was stuck open by partially sloughed endometrial tissue.

Obesity puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the pelvic organs, many people develop hemorrhoids from being overweight because the veins in the rectum have a harder time returning blood with extra weight pressed down upon them. This likely made her bleeding that much worse. The huge amount of weight might have been why the bleeding didn't resolve on its own. A shift in the position in the uterus can sometimes resolve bleeding like this, but everything is pretty stuck in place when you have 100+ pounds sitting on your pelvis. She would have died if she didn't get surgery tbh.

A D&C stands for dilation (of the cervix) and curettage (a type of blade used to scrape a uterus). Some doctors use a vaccuum instead of a blade, the point of the procedure is to get the endometrium off of the uterine wall. it is the same exact procedure as an abortion, but they can do it to stop menstrual bleeding that is out of control.

I would be totally unsurprised if she has endometrial cancer. Obesity is a risk for it. However, it isn't like they found a uterus and ovaries full of tumors either, or they would have tried to remove all of her reproductive organs like they did with chantal. So if she has endometrial cancer its probably the only one she has right now.

Pathology reports take more than a week to come back, usually two weeks. Pathologists are always on a back log of gross body parts to examine and take their time so they don't miss anything serious. everything is preserved so they can wait awhile before moving on to the next specimen.

She was under general anesthesia for the surgery since it was emergency surgery. her throat is probably sounding raw from being intubated for a little while.

D&C surgeries are through the vagina and cervix, it takes like 20 minutes most of the time, it is really weird for her to have stopped breathing more than once in a very short surgery.

I have no idea why the surgeon sewed her hymen back together. I have heard of doing that for women who might get honor killed or something for it not being intact, but not for obese white lesbians. The hymen usually breaks before adulthood through normal physical activity.

Women who aren‘t 500 lbs can deal with this - get in the shower as needed, wear tampons, use big pads, monitor the amount of blood, etc... and call their doctor to get checked out the next day if needed. (Plenty of women deal with far worse at home after childbirth, miscarriages, OBGYN procedures or because of fibroids)

Amber can not easily clean herself, can’t get in and out of a shower as needed, probably can’t use tampons/cups, can’t quickly get up to deal with leaks, change pads, etc. Any accidents she has can’t easily bend down to clean up. She’s probably just started camping on the toilet till her legs went numb. All that water in the toilet makes it seem like you are losing a ton of blood, when you’re not. Doctors ask women to use pads to truly monitor the amount of blood flow.

Keep in mind that one teaspoon! of blood soaks a normal pad or tampon. (Because there is other fluid and tissue, the blood just makes it all red so it seems like there’s far more blood.) So even if you go through 4 pads in an hour you have lost 4-6 teaspoons of blood - big whoop.

I think the trip to the ER was mostly due to Amber getting scared because she’s lost the ability to clean up after herself properly. If she was having a super heavy flow from her cervix not being able to lower properly for months she would not be able to lay on pillow mountain for hours. She would have to get up every 15-20 minutes to check/monitor herself, change her pad, clean up, etc... she can’t do that so probably accidents happen and she can’t bend to clean it up either. Yuck.

Add to this she has two gay men as roommates. No one is more terrified of vaginas and their menstrual voodoo than gay men. I can’t imagine they were happy with a stanky 500 lb woman bleeding all over the place. Becky would have been the nurse/janitor. I’m sure everyone wanted Amber to go to the hospital and let them deal with her mess.

agree she probably did this out of hysteria and inability to realize how much blood there actually was. She likely hasn’t menstruated in forever because of her weight, and when she does it was possibly only a small amount, so a heavier than normal flow must seem a shock.
