can you gun assholes make a special thread so I can school you why AK is the fucking best!
This is like a fucking third time this shit comes up in this thread.
Fine, I'll shut up about it. I love me some AK's but getting good with it takes some dedicated work. Only enthusiasts can get to the point where they can load and rack consistently quickly. Love 'em, everyone should have them, but for people who just want functional gear that they don't have to spend a lot of time thinkin' about, simplicity is key.
Not to mention caliber confusion, I've known more than a few people who had an SD arm but totally incompatible ammo for it. M&P in .40? No problem, I've got "tons" of ammo. (A 50 rd box of .380)

i love shotguns too (I have that mossy actually) but they're not a great pick for an insurrection weapon. Most people won't load up on mags for the mag fed, and they just can't carry that much ammo. Live in the city and you need to leave for grandma's? Hope you have a backpack, because each mag weighs a couple pounds!
Pumps are cool and all but too many non-shooters choke and short stroke in operation. It takes a bit of methodical, non-stressed actuation to make sure you're running it right. Between tube-feeding, bumbling with rounds, grabbing them out of pockets while they're keeping their head down and unfocused, not to mention flailing to pump, it's a hard system to run. Not that difficult to figure out, but I'm used to setting people up who wanna shoot once and leave their stuff in the closet until the fever pitch comes out. Little practice is awful, but I can't force people to do dry runs. :/
I wouldn't do an AR pistol shorter than a 10-11" barrel. It's a rifle round that's meant to burn at 20". Short barrels do a number on your hearing and in a cramped apartment it feels about 40% of a flash bang. There are some muzzle devices to direct the shockwave forward, but I'd not wanna wake up at two AM, miss my earmuffs, and become permanently deaf to a degree. Not to mention losing ballistic efficacy. 10.5" is a fair length that gets pretty good performance at least.
