Dan has done 5 films, TV series and plays in that same span of time. He's managed to move on a bit, probably helped by the beard he's grown on his face, or growing his hair out.
That ain't the reason.
Emma can talk all she wants about how women are sexually exploited and all that, but do you know what Dan had to do to walk away from his Harry Potter image?

Equus.
He had just turned 18 and he was still doing Harry Potter, but this was his "not a child anymore" statement: he had to be naked on stage in a highly sexually charged play to be taken seriously as an actor, his way to say "yes, I can do more than a wizard boy, hire me". Whether people think this worked or not, or if he's just dragging the Potter fame with him and would have happened anyway is irrelevant. The fact he felt he had to try this talks a lot about the alleged double standard that Emma and other Hollywood feminists are always talking about. That, of course, without even saying he's the more talented of the trio (followed by Grint, not Emma).
