The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Just curious is there any other game out there that does anything remotely like this? A game that forces you to play as a villain that mutilates and tortures the protagonists? I play way more video games than is safe or healthy and I can't name one.
Zone of the enders 2 has you playing as a bad guy turned anti hero who dabs on the last game protagonist and i think you kill sonic in one of the endings of ow the edge

Anyone get those youtube videos that were up? Someone linked me, but, they were taken down before I even thought about archiving. Basically showing the first 3 hours of the game, and showing Joel does in the first 2. Not at the half way mark.

This really funny you know, at first, i was skeptical about the leaks, and how much it would affect the game's sales, i thought most people still interested to buy the game probably don't bother to finish like 90% the stuff they buy, they just buy product and get exited for next product, so if Joel's death is the big climax wouldn't mean much since most players probably won't play up at that point, however if Joel's death actually happens so early into the game, i think even the most shallow consoomer inevitably will get to that part, if that's the case boy the bad word of mouth will spread fast, hopefully the next few fays are going to be quite a ride

If Joel died at the end, ND would at least have all of Friday to hope for no word of mouth in a 30 hour runtime.

It happened so early though that people will be streaming it by 3 AM Eastern. So by Friday morning, it will be all over Twitch.

Here's a real interesting Tidbit, apparently Sony got one of the dudes from Chernobyl to direct and executive produce the pilot.

Meanwhile Druckman's title is essentially a glorified creative consultant.

What the hell are you talking about? Zone of the Enders 2 isn't anything like what he was asking for, has only one ending, and barely resembles what you describe.
The part where he’s talking about killing Sonic, multiple endings, and ow the edge is Shadow the Hedgehog.

What the fuck is even the point of a TV show when the game is basically a movie and the plot of the original is basically The Road + Generic Zombie Cliches? If Mazin was working on anything I'd rather him be working on a TV adaptation of Blood Meridian than this shit.

I love seeing the trophy percentages for games to see how far people get into it. Like Death Stranding. Looking at the trophy list, first 1, "Delivering Is What I Do". 97.3% of people who have played the game got it. You just have to beat the prologue. In sinking city, the first trophy that isn't optional, 80.7%. Too many people just buy stuff wothout ever playing it.

I blame steam. Something like 27% of games bought are played.

It's the same reason why marvel had test runs for less than popular superheros like Daredevil before bringing in the more popular and well known heroes.

It's to lay the groundwork for stuff like God of War and Sony's Spiderman TV series.

Aside from the other ones folks have played, in the original Crackdown, IIRC, you apparently play through the game as a sort of superhero cop taking down street gangs at the instruction of a dispatcher you never see and only hear via radio, but in the epilogue of the game, the dispatcher reveals you were basically just helping another violent gang take over the city the whole time. Perhaps a commentary on policing as a whole? You don't really "mutilate" or "torture" NPCs to the extent as in this game, though.

Trevor's also offset by the other two characters who are also more level-headed and sane. You also get the sense that nobody likes him and only has him around because they're terrified of him otherwise. Trevor's so insane and over-the-top that you aren't supposed to "like" him as a traditional character, not like Abby where the game is expecting you to sympathize with her even as she kills Joel.
I don't think Michael is level-headed or sane. He has clear anger issues and seems devoid of a moral compass - even Trevor's insane behaviors have a relatively conventional morality behind them. Maybe Michael is a sociopath whereas Trevor is a psychopath. I'm hardly qualified to make those sorts of evaluations, though. I'd say only Franklin has something approaching sanity, inasmuch as a GTA PC can be sane.

Friend fowarded this to me but apparently even one of the few things Joel actually is supposed to do?

It's Jessie instead.

Oh god they even made Joel do the line when it was really jessie

Edit: Reading this sub, there is a picture that could point to the beach ending leak being real

now It's not subverting expectations

IT'S STRAIGHT UP FALSE ADVERTISING

DRUCKMANN IS INSANE AND JUST MADE EXCUSE TO LOLSUIT HIM :story:
I doubt anyone would win if they tried, especially since Sony somehow wormed their way out of a similar suit for advertising a game as 60fps when it straight up wasn't.

I didn't know what that video was supposed to show since we knew (ok I forgot) that Jesse comes back so he could be killed off later, but here is the original trailer.

What makes it even worse is the fact that this trailer was the first time they showed Joels face for part 2, previously only being a voice.
