The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Sob. How do you wokeify 40K. Decide that there are female space marines? Given that they're all transhuman eight foot tall half-ton killing machines with handheld rocket launchers encased head to toe in ceramic composite plate armour, how do you tell the difference?

Thankfully, we'll always have Fantasy from before it got squatted and replaced with Age of Shitmar. The World that Was is about as unwoke as you can get.
I don't know when it started. I think it was with some calarts diversity covers on some Warhammer YA novels, but now they're promoting tumblr comics and Tweeting out the usual "you're not welcome if you're a bigot" shit.

I don't follow Warhammer that closely, but I've seen people predict that the new editions are going to start being bad. Games Workshop never listened to fans when it came to balance changes and new models, so there is a chance wokness is limited to the official community branch and the games proper don't give a fuck what anyone says.

That's actually tastefully done. Doesn't make those questions like "did he go in dry," "have they showered" pop into your head.
Someone mentioned earlier that having the scene cut out like that actually makes the scene even more sexual because cutting to black like that leaves it to player imagination which can actually enhance the scene all together.

Still doesn't change that Abby is shite though.

Saw this pic in the comments section and couldn't agree more. People can hate on RDR2 and RockStar for some of their more shitty Progressive behavior but there are solid diamond moments of excellent writing that make their games stand out light years beyond other studios and Arthur Morgans redemption arc and death were one that stuck with me long after the game finished. I felt closure on this death, it wasn't wasted, it wasn't political or ham fisted, this was a man who fucked up his entire life, felt regret and remorse, and with death looming said "Fuck it, I'm gonna do something about this shitfest I put us into." That's a hero's arc, that's a death worth remembering, and a life worth celebrating. Arthur is no saint, in the end he did the work only a devil could to to make things right.

Yeah, RDR2 is Rockstar's best story since San Andreas, even better than RDR1.

Unfortunately, this isn't the RDR thread, it's TLOU2.

I don't know, I've always liked GTA IV's story.

Funnily enough, it's also a great story about the cycle of revenge and the main character is someone who's done some really awful shit and is now struggling to live with his decisions.

It was a contrast of one characters death in a video game vs. another with a similar desired outcome that failed miserably on TLOUS2 and worked damn well in RDR2. Shows that death, tragic and awful, can be powerful in story telling and that revenge is not always a fruitless enterprise but rewarding for righting past misdeeds.

GTA IV's story was great, its grim tone just doesn't match GTA's wacky open world and comedic radio and TV shows.

Sorry, I meant if if this was the RDR thread I'd go into more detail on how great RDR 2, not that you comparing them is off topic.

Don't forget our grim as fuck cartoons as well: Plague Dogs, Watership Down, Animal Farm, Animals of Farthing Wood and When The Wind Blows.
Ah, yes, Animals of Farthing Wood... One of those delightful cartoons that look vaguely like they'd be fun and kid-friendly about, well, animals of Farthing Wood, but instead of being kid-friendly it depicts the grim reality.

The classic scene of the Shrike having killed all the newborn mice babies, and it doesn't give a fuck because that's what shrikes do.

So, what's TLOU3 gonna be like? I hope it goes for the "The Mist" twist ending, with the game focusing on Abby and the other person on the boat, and wether Abby is gonna turn or not, and when the other character finally kills Abby, the Army rolls along proclaiming they have a cure and are restoring order.
